How to Upgrade PowerBook Firmware( All Hardwares )

How to Upgrade PowerBook Firmware( All Hardwares )?
Thank U in advance

If there is a firmware upgrade available for your model of PowerBook, it will appear when your run Software Update and also be listed at http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
Then you download the installer and run it. Usually you have to do something like hold down the Command key and Power button while you're restarting.
Firmware updates don't come along very often. The last one I can remember installing was for my B&W G3. The last firmware upgrades I can see listed for a PowerBook were for the 550MHz or 667MHz G4s back in 2002.
Is there a specific reason why you're asking about firmware upgrades?

  • How to upgrade handheld firmware to the most available recent version

    Hi,
I have a BB 8800 (T-Mobile) and I tried to update current firmware (4.2.1.101) to the recent OS version. I went to the T-Mobile site and found that there was older version (4.2.1.74) than installed on my handheld.
So, I did the following. I checked all carries on this page and found that Orange UK offers handheld version 4.5 for BB8800.
I downloaded handheld 4.5 software from Orange UK site. Installed it on my PC.
Deleted the VENDOR.XML file located at:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\VENDOR.XML
After that I connected my handheld to the PC and ran Blackberry Desktop Manager.
And it upgraded my handheld OS to the 4.5.0.52

  • How to upgrade e50 firmware via apple mac?

    I own an E50 (RM-170) which is currently running v 06.41.3.0.
How do I tell what the most up-to-date firmware is?
And how do I upgrade the firmware into the phone using an Apple Mac? (I saw the updater software for Windows but couldn't see a Mac version).
    Thanks
    Peter Crow, New Zealand

Check on the Nokia software update site for your specific model. Be aware that they release firmware for different regions at different times.
As for upgrading via a Mac, that isn't available as yet.
Don't bother trying through Parallels. I have and it doesn't work.

  • How to upgrade driver/firmware for 3rd party airport card?

I have a Motorola WPCI810g wireless card that i have been using for over a year. Previously in Panther i tried to upgrade to Airport 4.2 to take advantage of WPA, but i ended up having to downgrade back to 4.1 because 4.2 left airport nonoperational. I have been on Tiger for quite a while and only recently noticed that i was automatically upgraded to Airport 4.2, however I do not have WPA as an encryption option (neither when joining, or creating a network). I can only assume it has to do with the firmware on the card but I cant figure out how to update it. I have tried to search these threads but the closest i can come is using Airport Admin Utility to upgrade the firmware on a base station.
    About Airport is such:
    Airport
    427.1.1
    Component Versions:
    Airport Menu Extra: 427.1.1
    Airport Framework: 429.6.0
    Airport Extreme Driver: 405.1.0
    Airport Admin Utility: 420.5.0
    Airport Setup Assistant: 420.6.0

yup, and this is what it says:
    AirPort Card Information:
    Wireless Card Type: AirPort Extreme
    Wireless Card Locale: USA
Wireless Card Firmware Version: 405.1 (3.90.34.0.p18)
Current Wireless Network: wireless network not available
in addition, I found that I can choose WPA as an encryption if i select 'other' as the network. What I would really like to do is create a network with WPA, since i use this desktop to connect my ibook to the internet. so far nothing...

  • How to upgrade SSD firmware without the CD drive?

    Hello
I have a X300 (6478-1HP) with the optional battery instad of the CD-ROM drive. That drive just stopped working, it just can't read dics anymore. I'm happy with my Samsung USB CD-ROM, runs great.
But how can I upgrade my SSD drive with the new firmware just released? The readme.txt states that we should not use USB drives to do it. What now? Anyone tried already?

  • How to upgrade PowerBook G4 1.67Ghz to 10.5.8?

So I just bought the last PowerBook model made, the awesome 1.67Ghz with 128mb vram, bluetooth, airport extreme, ect. I bought it for $75 and when I got it OS 10.5.1 was installed. I decided to update it to the latest version of leopard. When I try installing through the upater, it just freezes right away. Then I tried downloading it not through the updater and installing it that way, but that didn't work either. It got stuck at the same screen. So I am wondering what I have to do to get this thing running 10.5.8??? I have heard this is a common problem with this model. Should I install an earlier update like 10.5.6 and then try going to 10.5.8? Also, the laptop will freeze up often. It stays cool with the fan I bought for it, yet it still does it. Should I run disk utility to check the HDD? Other than that the machine is in pretty good condition. Just put 2GB of ram in it! Help is appreciated!

The Combo update for Leopard 10.5.8 should be all you'd need to update
an OS X 10.5.x from any step to the last update step; as that had been
a consolidated Combo to include earlier fixes & patches. Then, after a
Combo update, restart, repair disk permissions in Disk Utility, than then
    run Software Update again.
Two things, one is: compatible quality RAM tested on Mac computers
and specificially for Macs running OS X. Secondly: hard disk drive free
or unused capacity, since OS X in a PowerPC relies on Virtual memory
that's free space used as swap file temporary read-write system memory.
Sometimes, the applications + OS X need more RAM than is physically
possible to install; and it may not use what it has efficiently.
•Problems from insufficient RAM & free HDD space:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/lackofram.html
•Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk:
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/freeingspace.html
This is slow enough, so if the hard drive has little free space and not
necessarily in a large block, the OS X has to hunt and find the scattered
places it can use to write temporary VM files to. At hard drive rates of
speed, so that is also slow.

Do you have an externally enclosed hard drive in FW400/800 case, with
its own power supply? With oxford-type chipset... suitable for OS X clones?
You could clone the system to an external, if you may want whatever is on it,
then be sure it is a bootable clone by starting up the Mac from it; then go in
and erase/install (over-write drive at least 7-pass) to test the HDD and see if
it really should not be replaced with a new one. HDDs fail after a shorter time
span in a portable, than a desktop. Yet new models can fail in short order.
If temped to try an SSD, see what OWC has in the way of Legacy SSDs for
older portables, as they are most compatible with the hard drive data rate
and the ATA/IDE (PATA) specification. Certain rules tend to apply to using
a solid state drive, instead of a platter & styli hard disk drive.
Hopefully if you have the original grey-label install-restore disc DVD set,
you could run the Apple Hardware Test on the bootable disc, to see if
there is any hardware reason why it could be acting up.
Check to see if there are any "previous system" folders in the Mac,
since they can't be used to run it, but they do take up space... Trash
old previous user-created content, but not system parts, if the HDD
capacity is near too-full. See the link above about freeing space.

I have recently installed Windows 10 preview in Windows 8.1 pro.

You connect to the VM using the RDP Client - connecting to the IP / name of the VM over the network.
This enabled all device redirection by default.
You can possibly use Enhanced Session Mode as well.  That again uses RDP under the hood.

  • MSI DR4-A,How do I upgrade the firmware? (How do I flash?)

I can't use my MSI DR4-A for anything now since i dont know how to upgrade the firmware (flash) can somebody please explain how to flash it better then the ReadMe file the lates update came with..cause i seriously don't understand the readme neither does any of my friends..so please help me someone...

I updated the Firmware yesterday, what I did was the following.
Downloaded the latest (2.50) firmware from the download page, and putted all the files (DVFLASH.EXE and 250D.BIN) on a floppy.
Went to Bootdisk.com and downloaded the win98SE OEM bootdisk (as suggested by others here) and ran the exe by using a second floppy.
Rebooted my pc with the newly created bootdisk in the floppy drive.
After a while you'll see the prompt.
Replace the bootdisk with the disk where DVFLASH.EXE and 250D.BIN is on and make sure the promt says A:\ (assuming this is your floppy drive).
    Then type DVFLASH 250D.BIN
(also assuming the version is 250D.bin, which it is now atm).

  • What file do I use to upgrade WRT54GL firmware?

Just got a new WRT54GL wirless router and am interested in how to upgrade the firmware. Downloaded WRT54GL_v4.30.9_US.tgz from the Linsys support/download website. It's a zip file that contains WRT54GL_v4.30.9_US.tar which is another zip file that contains the source files. But there's no compiled file.  Where can I get an executable that can be downloaded to the router?

You'd have to ask Linksys that question....but if the firmware for the 1.0 and the 1.1 are the same, they may just have forgotten to update the page...or they may just consider that if there are no firmware updates for the 1.1, why bother posting it...after all, no one should ever need to re-flash their routers, right??

  • How to upgrade IP/KVM Console AF620A via serial interface?

    Hi
I've got a "HP 1x1Ex8 KVM IP Console Switch G2 with Virtual Media CAC Software - AF620A" which is not booting correctly anymore.
    Symptoms:
    - blank screen
    - status leds constantly blinking
    - serial output hangs after "Booting:1.2.10.15038"
Hooking up to the serial interface, the terminal gives me, that the current version as well as the alternate version of the used firmware is 1.2.10.15038. As far as I was able to find out, I should upgrade to the latest firmware in order to get rid of the problem and make the device usable again.
My problem is, that I don't know how to upgrade the firmware via the serial console, knowing that the device is not booting up the firmware.
Yes, I've done a factory reset as well as a configuration reset. No change ...
I've opened up the case to see if there is any hardware reset button, but there is none. The only thing I found is a 4pin header labeled "HDR2" but neither the user guide not the technical guide gives any details about the interior of the device (of course not ...).
Has anyone had the same problem with this or any similar device?
Or does anyone has a good advice what I could try to revive the KVM?
    greetings

I finally got through the helpline, but as my device is out of warranty, the official solution for my problem is to buy a new device!
Ending is better than mending ... welcome our the brave new world ...

  • FAQ Broken: How do I upgrade the firmware on a WRT54G Wireless-G Broadband Router?

I tried to view the above question in the FAQ, but it goes to the answer for a different question.
I then tried "How do I upgrade the firmware on my router?" a little further down,
but it acts like I'm not authenticated, and won't accept my Linksys Forums e-mail address
and password. When I try the password recovery, it says my e-mail address is invalid.
Can someone please point me to instructions for upgrading the firmware on my WRT54G?
Specifically, someone told me that the router needs to be listening on the default 192.168.1.1
IP address, but mine is listening on 10.1.1.2. Do I need to change this just to flash new
firmware, because that will be a little painful.
    Thanks,

Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in serach tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...

Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...
**To Check the Default Gateway of the router...Click Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> Command Prompt...A black box will appear(Command Prompt)...In the Command Prompt window type ipconfig and press 'Enter'...Look for Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection IP Address , Subnet Mask and Default Gateway...
**To all the above setting using the wired computer.
