How to upgrade to firefox 4

I am not very computer literate with technical issues. This is Windows XP. I keep getting a message almost daily, to upgrade to Firefox 4. I click on "Download now to upgrade", I then get a box that says "Do you want to save this file or cancel?" I click save, it appears that it is downloading it which takes a couple of minutes. However, I continue to get the messages to upgrade, so I am not sure if anything was done. In trying to get help with this, one site said to check under "Help" on my browser, then click "About Mozilla Firefox" and that will tell me which version I am on. That says FIREFOX Version 3.6.10. So it doesn't appear to have downloaded the upgrade to 4. Can you please help? Thank you.

Go to Tools, Options, Advanced, and click the "Update" tab.
Under the line, "Automatically check for updates to", '''uncheck''' 'Firefox'. You will no longer be asked to upgrade Firefox to the next version.

Or does one install to a new directory? If that is the case, how does one then incorporate their former customizations into the new install? Also, what happens to add-ons, plug-ins, etc.
Install instructions, including upgrade instructions, should be readily available on the same page where the download link is!

In Firefox 4 and later you can go to Help > About Firefox to check for updates and update.<br />
You can update Firefox in the same installation folder.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

How to upgrade/install firefox for Solaris 10 on Sparc 64?

I just installed Solaris 10 on a SunBlade 100, as soon as I completed the install and I opened Firefox. The system asked me to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, I downloaded the file to the Desktop, then expanded the file into "/usr/lib/firefox/" overriding the older firefox that was there. Then I created a symbolic link to "/usr/bin/".
Now, Firefox doesn't work at all, no matter what I do, if I click the icon on the Desktop, or click the Firefox icon on the Launch menu, or if I issue commands from the terminal like "./firefox" nothing works.
Any ideas?

Hi guys, I also had this situation and since I was not able to convert the package to a datastream, I downloaded it from http: //www. sunfreeware. com/mozilla .html
They also provide some readme files that can be of help.
Once you have the datastream package you can install using pkgadd utility.

It's not a good idea to allow websites to redirect to another site until you know for sure the original site is trustworthy.
But if you still want to do it (again not a good idea).
Tools>Options>Advanced>General - In Accessibility, uncheck "warn me when web sites try to redirect..." option.

Since upgrading to Firefox 6, I can't use my autofill forms. It now has my name and address but doesn't have credit card or password information that it had before and I don't know how to input it or import it from former versions of Firefox.

OK, you seem to be running Zone Alarm as your firewall. It includes a utility which checks to see whether a site is safe or not and also adds a plugin to Firefox which is listed as '''npFFApi'''. Can you disable that and see if it makes any difference?

Do you have Adblock Plus installed? If you do, disable on the page where you normally see your stock info. I've uploaded an image of what happens on another site where ABP is enabled. The Global News image disappears with ABP enabled even though it's not an ad.
