How to upgrade to iphoto 6

i am running iphoto 5, and when i check for updates, it will not offer an upgrade to iphoto 6.x
can i still get this upgrade, or do i have to buy ilife 08 in order to upgrade iphoto

You need to purchase iLife 06 or newer to upgrade iPhoto. There is no free update and no discount price.

  • HELP Please, I NEED to know HOW to upgrade from iPhoto 8.1.2 to the latest

I cannot find link where to buy the upgrade to iPhoto 9 in the app store which will enable further updates.
Need to do this before updating to OSX Yosemite.
I do not want or need the entire ilife 11 suite just the iPhoto component.
Can anyone provide the link please? :-)
Have searched and searched to no avail.
    TIA

Back up your other data, use the Disk Utility or a product such as Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable clone of Mavericks on an external drive, and click here for information.

  • I am running OS 10.5.8 along with ipoto 6. i can't seem to figure out how to upgrade. i can't upgrade to 11 but what can i do??

i need to upgrade my iphoto on my intel based imac. running 10.5.8. can't seem to figure out how to upgrade this iphoto. i also have a new macbook on which this version of iphoto won't open. the macbook is running 10.6.7. what can i do to run iphoto on both machines??

iLife 11 and iPhoto 9 require  OS X10.6.3 as a minimum.  So you will need to upgrade your iMac to Leopard or Snow Leopard and then purchase iPhoto 11 from the App Store.  If you can find a copy of iLife 11 somewhere you'll get all of the latest iApps.
You're new MBP should be running iPhoto 11 and the other iLIfe 11 apps.

  • How do I upgrade my iPhoto library on Yosemite??

I downloaded Yosemite and the new iPhoto that is compatible with it. I'm able to open iPhoto, but then I get a message saying I have to upgrade my iPhoto library. When I try to do this, it will start "examining my library" but then iPhoto will stop responding and I have to force quit. How do I fix this?? I want my pictures!

If the Apple library rebuild does not work (did not for me) then download "iPhoto Library Manager" and when launching that app click on rebuild.  It worked for me.

  • I upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?

i upgraded to snow leopard but iphoto was not included. How do I install iphoto on snow leopard 10.6.8?

IPhoto is not included in any OS upgrade. It is a seperate application. Unless you choose to erase your drive when you upgrade no application including iPhoto is affected by the upgrade (except potential compatibility issues). If you need to reinstall iPhoto for and reason you do it from the original source. Either
1- the restore disks that came with your computer
    Or
2- the iLife DVD upgrade that you purchased
    Or
    3- the App store

You can upgrade to iPhoto '11 with OS X 10.8.5 by purchasing an iPhoto '11 DVD from Amazon, eBay or other source - or you can upgrade your OS to Mavericks for free if your system meets the requirements and then purchase the upgrade to iPhoto '11 version 9.5.x from the App store - in either case backup first in case of problems

  • How can i upgrade from iphoto 7.1.5 to 8.1.2 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8 ?

How can I upgrade from iphoto 7.1.5 to 8.1.2 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8 ?

With the above listed config that I have (iphoto 7.1.5 on an older iMac running OSX 10.6.8), how can I move my iPhoto library from this old iMac (2006) to my NEW iMac (2011) that is running iPhoto 9.5.1 ?
To open an iPhoto 7.1.x version in iPhoto '11 you need to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader. See this Support document:
iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrade
Download and install the upgrader,  then run it on your iPhoto 7.1.5 library. After that, iPhoto will be able to open your library and upgrade it to version 9.5.1. And you will be able to merge the libraries with if Library Manager.

How do I get iphoto to upgrade photo library after upgrading os from snowleopard to yosemite?

    To add to OT's advice:
You may need to delete your current iPhoto from the Applications folder, if it is a version of iPhoto '11, before the App Store will allow you to download it from the main page.
To locate iPhoto at the AppStore, open the "Featured" tab and enter "iPhoto" into the search field.

  • When I upgraded my iPhoto thumbnails, my photos disappeared.  How can I recover them?  I have iPhoto '08.

When I upgraded my iPhoto thumbnails, my photos disappeared.  How do I recover them?

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

See this link:   iPhoto '11: Restoring from Time Machine with iPhoto '11 (9.2 or later) and OS X Lion 10.7.2 (or later) - Apple Support
Follow the steps below to view and restore from your Time Machine drive.
    To restore photos:
    Quit iPhoto.
    Connect your Time Machine drive.
In the Finder, open the folder containing your iPhoto Library. Unless you've moved your iPhoto Library, it can be found in Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library.
Enter Time Machine.  (Time Machine can be found in the Dock or in the /Applications folder.)
Choose your desired backup. The timeline on the right side of the screen displays a purple tick mark for each of the backups stored on your Time Machine drive.
Select the iPhoto library you would like to restore, and click the Restore button.
iPhoto may prompt you to repair your library if there are some inconsistencies in your files. If so, please allow it to proceed by clicking the Repair button. If you notice blank thumbnails, reopen iPhoto while holding down the Command and Option keys. When the Rebuild iPhoto Library window appears, enable the "Rebuild all of the photos’ thumbnails" checkbox. This may take a long time, depending on the size of the library.
Quit iPhoto, before you do that.
