How to upgrade to quicktime 7 pro on mac osx10.6

I purchased the upgrade to QT 7 pro mac osx but i cant figure out how to upgrade from my current QT player on leopard 10.6.2 to the pro. can any help?

Those seem like OS error codes. Are they the same for all Apple programs?
The default QT player for Snow Leopard is QT X which cannot be upgraded to "Pro" status. Check to see if the QT 7 Player is installed (found in the "Utilities" folder if already installed). If not, then use the Snow Leopard installation disk to custom install just the QT 7 (v7.6.3) package which then can be QT Pro registered using the File menu "Registration" option when QT 7 is open.

In most cases the problem is associated with a failure to follow the installation and activation instructions HERE. However, since you have not really described your problem, it is diffucult to know for sure. Suggest you read these instruction and see if they help. If not, then describe the problem in more detail since "cannot get the upgrade to kick in" could refere to anything from failure to press the "Tab" key to failure to enter a name salutation or suffix to purchasing a key for the wrong system.

I've got a new computer and I want to uninstall Quicktime Pro 7.4.5 and then install on the new system. Maybe I'm overlooking something, but a bunch of other applications have easy 'uninstall' functions right in the application toolbar. Why doesn't Quicktime?????

I've read that Q/T is not just a simple application but in reality, a major component of the OS. This is where it varies from other similar acting apps like WMV, AVI, FLV etc. To butress this statement, in a vague way, I remember seeing a graphic of the Mac OS when Apple was first pushing "X". QuickTime was in the same general area of depth in programming as UNIX.
So, you might not want to delete all of QuickTime just the Reg Key which should/could/might put you back to the non Q/T Pro functionality and thence legal to install on another machine.
Just be certain that the version on the new machine is the same as on the old machine or expect to buy a new $30 key.

How can I reinstall QuickTime Pro on Win7?

I purchased QuickTime Pro in September. Then this week, I upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7. In doing so, I had to wipe out my PC's partition and re-install every program back on my PC.
This has been a relatively painless process, except for QuickTime Pro. I re-installed Quick Time 7 (the free version) on my PC but there appears to be no way to upgrade the free version of QT back to Pro without purchasing this product all over again (and I refuse to do that).
I've tried talking to Apple's technical support. They've given me directions written for previous versions of Windows, but there appears to be no instructions for how to upgrade to QT Pro if you have Windows 7.
I've been on the phone with their technical support for the past two hours and no one at Apple appears to know how I could reinstall QuickTime Pro.
I'm astonished.

What version of QT did you have on XP? If you had QT version 6.X pro then you would have to purchase a new QT pro key for QT 7. As Apple releases complete new versions of QT they require a new pro key, updates to a version do not. In other words the pro key for QT 6 does not work with QT 7.
And if you were using QT pro 6.X you cannot revert back to that version. Because QT 6 doesn't support windows 7

There is no QuickTime System Preferences pane in 10.6.8 or later.
You enter the registration under the player 7 menu.

How do I launch Quicktime Player on Mac Book Air? I know that my computer came with it, and when I try to launch it, the icon tells me that it is Version 10.1. Nothing else happens. I wanted to watch some online videos which require the plug in, but the plug in says that it needs my permission to run. In Chrome, it is enabled, and yet it doesn't play, In Safari as well.

XVID Avi's not working once upgraded to Quicktime Pro

This may be related to the post earlier this week.
I just upgraded to Quicktime Pro, and now most of my .avi files, which playedback fine before, just give me the white screen with no audio.
When I check the file format, it says:
XVID, 624 x 352, Unknown MPEG Layer 3, Stereo, 48.000 kHz
My QT is the following: QuickTime™ Version 7.1.3, Player Version 7.0.1, which I believe is the most up to date version.
I looked at the solution for the pervious post about this, but if the files worked before, is this a simple codec issue, where I just need to re-aqcuire a codec?

Upgrading to Pro doesn't add or subtract any files from the installed version of QuickTime. It merely activates the Pro features.
Did you upgrade from version 6 to version 7? That would remove and add files.
Find and install the XVID codec appropriate for your machine.

3) Click radio button, 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives
4) close Windows Explorer
5) Re-open Windows Explorer
6) Naviagate to folder 'C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\QuickTime\'
7) Delete the file, 'com.apple.QuickTime.plist'
Note: This file is readable in notepad and contains the registration name and serial key.
8) Reopen Quicktime Pro and the registration is now blank

The unlocking instructions I have for quicktime pro 7 that I received with the key do not correspond with what the system preferences now show. Any assistance would be appreciated. I bought a registration code from apple.com to upgrade to Quicktime Pro, and even though the system preferences says that I have a registered quicktime pro in my computer, I still can not download videos from Safari and save them to my desktop. I have tried resetting Safari but it didn't work. Any sugestions? Thanks!
