How to upload a Word doc from MacBook to iCloud?

Just going to throw in again: iCloud is to keep's Apple's products on Apple's devices synced up between multiple devices. It isn't for sharing. It isn't for storage.
iCloud is the Apple-branded cloud (see the "i"). It isn't meant to be a completely free-of-charge realization of the future that all the tech people keep calling "the cloud."
It adds a lot of very nice functionality to Apple's own products, yet people are screaming their heads off about not getting free disk space and free bandwidth to use for whatever they want online. Apple added functionality, but tons of people seem to think they took away functionality. These things were never promised with iCloud.

  • Transfer word docs from Macbook pro to Iphone and send (NO WIFI)

I am a regular business traveler and recent mac convert. With my pc and windows mobile phone, I used to be able to easily do the following:
    1. Write word documents on the computer while on the plane.
    2. When documents are complete, connect phone to computer with usb cord.
    3. Transfer files to phone.
    4. When plane lands and cell coverage is available, send documents as attachments from phone using 3G coverage.
I have found lots of suggestions that cover part of this process for mac and Iphone, but all require wifi at some point. Please note, if I HAD a WIFI connection, I wouldn't need to do this because then I would send the docs from my macbook pro. The sole purpose is to be able to work around not having a wifi connection.
Any help would be appreciated. My Iphone is not jailbroken and I'm in the US on ATT.

Thanks for the suggestion of Diskaid. I have read what I can about it, and my understanding is that while it does allow me to move the document to the phone, the OS won't let me access the document to send via email. Can you clarify? Thanks much!

  • Is there a way to sync word docs from MacBook to iPad?

I've read through some forums about this but they all seem to be pretty old with a lot of back and forth about whether or not this is possible. I'm trying to see if there is a way to sync my word documents between my iPad and Macbook. I've tried pages but am not a fan and honestly have trouble transferring from a word doc to pages doc so I can edit it on my iPad then convert it  back from pages to word once I'm back on my Macbook and I have way too many documents to spend the time doing that and unfortunately they have to be in word.
Anyway, just curious any help would be appreciated and please keep it friendly (I've seen a lot of bashing in these forums too)
    Thanks!

  • Word docs from pc to iPad

I can't figure out how to share a word doc from my pc to the iPad. I went through the steps in the manual but can't find the file share option they talk about in the app tab on iTunes. Any ideas?

Do you have Pages installed on your iPad? If not, I'm not sure that file transfer option will appear, though I'm not certain; perhaps someone else here can confirm or refute. If that is indeed the case, then you'll have to email the document to an account your iPad can pick up, or get Pages or one of the other iPad apps that supports Word docs and provides a file transfer capability.
    Regards.

  • How to delete a Word doc that won't highlight from Finder sidebar

I have a Word 'doc' in the sidebar in Finder which no longer either highlights or opens (it used to). I would like to delete it. If I double tap it I get: Open Sidebar Preferences which doesn't help. I have tried Command and both command and option and, because it will not even select (i.e. highlight) I can't drag it to trash or delete it. Any ideas how to delete it? I have successfully removed other Word docs from the sidebar.

    CMD-Drag, works for me.

  • How to open word doc. from forms 10g

  • Bulk uploads of Word docs to Portal

my client wishes to upload approx. 50 word docs from their existing file server to Portal. ....manually posting the docs into an existing content area is prohibitive.
Any hints on the most efficient way to bulk upload the docs into portal????
    thanks
    Sharon (443)994-4084

this solution sounds great, only 1 problem:
when I reach step 4 (click the "unzip" link.....), I do not see an 'unzip' link. I am logged on as the owner of the folder(with cascading privileges).
Any thoughts on why the 'unzip' link is not being displayed? the online help suggests that the unzip link will automatically be displayed when the 'zip file' item type is chosen(which I've done).
How about via a zip file:
    1) zip the docs
    2) create a new item as a zip type
    3) upload the zip file
    4) click the "unzip" link next to the new item
Portal will unzip the files and if the directory structure was stored with the zip, Portal will attempt to recreate the actual folders they existing in on the client. If the folders are already created, portal will put the docs in the appropiate folders.

  • Transferring word docs from vintage mac

Does anyone know how to transfer word docs from my old Mac plus (1985) to a modern Mac or other PC? Would a personal modem work such as was designed for the original machine?

    ccconti,
The personal modem will work but my first modem on my first Mac Plus was 300 baud. That option would be painfully slow. Five years ago I met someone who was still using a Plus and modem to email to Germany from the USA. I wanted to document her software configuration but did not get back to it. I would go with standard methods.
Hopefully you acquired an external SCSI drive some where along the way. It will move files to a newer machine with ethernet. Ethernet will allow you go to the latest computers quickly. Another alternative is zip disks. The real key is finding someone with spare hardware. If you are willing to buy some used equipment, you can do it yourself.
Do you have access to a school or club that has old equipment? Post back with a list of computers/hard drives you have access to.

  • How do I view word docs on lion?

How do I view word docs on lion? I just downloaded Lion in order to get icloud to work and am hating it so far. It's super slow, my address book keeps freezing and now I can't access my word files. Any advise out there?

    TextEdit will open Word documents.
For the problems you are otherwise describing I recommend:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
