You can transfer from your Windows to your Mac if you want to. This would require you to set up Home Sharing. Also, this other article will help you better understand Home Sharing.

  • Itunes on Windows laptop need to transfer to Mac Book Pro

I am new to my Mac Book Pro (4 days) and love it. However, my iTunes library is on my Windows laptop and I want to know how to transfer my iTunes account (and the songs that I have bought via iTunes) to my new Mac. There are only purchased tracks on the iTunes library, but my iPod (80gb) contains some of my CD collection as well as the purchased tracks. As I am in the process of getting my CD collection onto the iPod, I sync manually. Also, the iPod is set up to work on Windows and not Mac. Could somebody please help me and advise what I need to do, and in what order - Help! Many thanks

Macs can read Windows drives so you should be able to connect the iPod to the Mac without any issue. One proviso is that up until now Apple has only fully supported using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac (unless the range has been expanded to include the iPhone and the iPod Touch which I've no experience of). What this means effectively is that if you need to apply a firmware update for your iPod and you wanted to maintain the Windows format you would have to do it on a PC. If you were to try and update a Windows based iPod on a Mac it would be restored and reformatted to the Mac file system and have the Mac firmware installed.
Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to load your Mac iTunes from the iPod. The transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. You'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod to a computer
The transfer of content from other sources such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. This is just a small selection of what's available, you can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

"At least 16 GB of free space on the disk onto which you’re installing for 32-bit, or 20 GB for 64-bit (for Microsoft Windows and Windows-based applications)."
That's what Apple proposes in here Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows
Personally I would double these amounts and add to that the diskspace needed for your Windows games.

Do you have a SD slot? If not you get a USB to SD memory card adpater at the computer/office/online store and use that.
It appears as a drive on your machine and you can use Export from iPhoto or drag and drop methods too.

  • Do I have to uninstall itunes on my old PC before importing/populating my Mac Book Pro with My iPad stuff?

    Good Day,
My apologies for the cumbersome subject line/question. In a nut shell, I currently, have my itunes account on my spouses PC and on my iPad(3). I love the Mac stuff so much that recently, I purchased a Mac Book Pro so I could work from two Mac products. I want to take all the apps that I purchased, music, photos etcetera that is on my ipad and put it on to my Mac Book, but it is my understanding that I can only have my music and purchased apps or itunes account on two procducts that includes a PC. So my first question is do I have to, uninstall the itunes on my spouses PC before I can synch my iPad to the Mac, keeping in mind that the itunes account is in my name.
Second, do you have any tips (best practices, pitfalls to look out for) for the best way to populate my Mac Book Pro with my iPad Apps and Music, I would like the apps and music to be on both the mac book and the iPad. I realize the most obvious answer to my second question is synching the iPad with my Mac but before I do that I would be greatful for any insight and expertise in this area.
Thanks so much for you time.
    L.

No you do not have to uninstall iTunes on the PC in order to unsync with the Mac. And where you got that information about having iTunes content on two products only is beyond me. You can associate your Apple ID and iTunes content with up to 10 devices but no more than 5 devices can be computers.
If you could copy the iTunes library to your new Mac, that would be the ideal thing to do in order to transfer the iTunes library over. That would make the process pretty easy. You can also download most purchased content again as long as you use the same Apple ID and you could move content into your iTunes library that way.
You will need to authorize the new Mac for your iTunes content. Launch iTunes on the Mac and got to Store>authorize this computer.
There are many articles that will guide you through copying the iTunes library to the Mac and you can look through a bunch of them here.

  • Wanting to access iTunes library on our iMac from our Mac Book Pro

    Hello - Can anyone help?
Wanting to access iTunes library on our iMac from our Mac Book Pro - home sharing is switched on and can play both via Apple TV but how do I copy a playlist from the IMAC library to my library on the Mac book pro.

Hi Michael and thanks for your help.
I had worked out how to play the itunes library as I did find that page but I can't copy anything.
As soon as I click on Music (from the shared library on the Library-pop-up-menu) I get my husbands library which is good and we can play it. But we cant figure out how to copy and cant  do step 2 (as per below) as we can't find the "Show menu at the bottom of the iTunes window, choose “Items not in my library.” Any further advice?
    Many thanks...Elaine
Import items from other libraries using Home Sharing
Choose a computer on your Home Sharing network from the Library pop-up menu. The library loads and a list of categories appears.
Choose a category (Music, for example).
In the Show menu at the bottom of the iTunes window, choose “Items not in my library.”
Select the items you want to import, and click Import.

how to upload a song from the i phone to itunes match

    Hi Chandrapp,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you want to upload a song from your iPhone to iTunes Match. Local songs on your iPhone will not be uploaded to iCloud, you will need to transfer that song into your iTunes Library on your computer and upload it to the iCloud from there. The information can be found in the following article.
iTunes Store: Subscribing to iTunes Match
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4914
When you subscribe to iTunes Match from an iOS device, your local tracks will not be matched or uploaded to iCloud. You will need to sign in with your Apple ID from a computer in order to match and upload your local music library.
    Hope this helps,
    -Joe

  • How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs

How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs & artists? What is the correct way to transfer my 3000 songs to Time capsule, to free the memory of my Mac? Thanks a lot. Carlo Molinari (Rome - Italy)

How can I do to transfer all iTunes library from my Mac book Pro to Time capsule without to lost the alphabetic sequence of songs & artists? What is the correct way to transfer my 3000 songs to Time capsule, to free the memory of my Mac?
The following are the basic steps to transfer your iTunes Media folder from your MacBook Pro to the Time Capsule (TC). Note: You will leave the iTunes Library, and its associated files, on the MacBook Pro as you will only be moving the media files.
Be sure to shutdown iTunes before starting.
Next, move the "iTunes Music" folder, located in ~/Music/iTunes/, to wherever you want on your TC's internal hard drive. Remember to leave the Album Artwork folder, as well as the three individual library files where they are on the MacBook Pro.
Wait a while. If you have a large library, this will take a bit of time.
Once the iTunes Media folder has been transferred, open iTunes. Note: It will still be looking at your local iTunes Library on the MBP. As such it will think that the iTunes Media folder is still on the MBP as well. However, we just relocated it to the TC. If you attempt to select any song, you will get an error that the song is "missing." Not to worry, we will correct this in the next step.
We need to tell iTunes the media has moved to the TC's internal HDD. To change where iTunes "looks" for the media, open iTunes and go to the Advanced > General tab and use the "Change..." button to tell it where your new "iTunes Music" library is located.
Once this is done iTunes will likely pop up a progress window telling you that it's re-analyzing your library. Let it complete this step.
As a final check to make sure everything when as planned, click on any library file from within iTunes and press cmd + i (or View > Get Info). At the bottom of the Summary tab in that window is a "Where:" section that tells you the actual file path to that piece of media; be sure that path begins with the name of your TC's drive, and not "Macintosh HD."

I've just got a new computer does any one know how to transfer my song to my new computer. I've installed itunes but can't seem to transfer the songs.

    you can use home sharing.
or, assuming you have all your media files in the default location, copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) from the old to the exact same location on the new machine.
you can either use your network or an external HD for that.

  • How do I delete songs from my iphone that are not on my itunes account?

How do I delete songs from my iphone that are not on my itunes account?

You mean music that was not purchased from the iTunes Store?
If so, that means the music was transferred from your iTunes library on computer via the iTunes sync process - unless you are an iTunes Match subscriber.
Music transferred from your computer can be removed the same way - via the iTunes sync process or you should be able to delete individual songs direct from the iPhone.

For iTunes purchases, you can transfer them back to iTunes by plugging  your iPod into her iTunes library and choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.
