How to upload Published site?

Okay I am entirely new to Dreamweaver and this forum so I apologize if this is incorrectly placed and for my lack of knowledge in general.
My question is, after I create and publish my website fully, how exactly do I publish it?
I know I have seen several references and understand generally that you would use your own FTP hosting server or whatever you want to call it. My only concern is I am not sure if my ISP provides a fast enough server to host my site on. Thats what you would consider it right? Whenever I made websites in the past even simply HTML editing it was all done on WYSIWYG site builders like Yahoo, Freewebs, you get the idea, so I was always using their servers to host my site on. Also, am I even saying all this correctly haha that I need a server to host my site on? Well anyway, if someone could shed some light on all this that would be lovely.
I further apologize I am sure this has been mentioned somewhere else on these forums too I just have not seen it yet.
Thanks in advance everyone!

You set up your site using the site manager, and input your  publishing (FTP) settings during that process.
You can also do it any time later in the Advanced settings.
As far as having your ISP host your site....Not good.
They aren't really in the business of hosting. They're a service provider. If they offer hosting it's a premium service for them and you'll pay anywhere from 500 to 3000% more than you would through a hosting service.
Example: Cox Communications (my ISP) is a good high speed Internet provider. I get upto 9mbps download speed and 2.6mbps upload speed for $46.00 a month. Web hosting through Cox requires a $240 up front fee, and costs $30 a month in addition to the $46 I'm paying them for Internet access. That's $600 for the first year and $360 after that. There's a 500Mb quarterly traffic limit for FTP, and downloads before they hit you with another $15 per month.
My hosting service ICDSoft (http://www.icdsoft.com) is not the biggest hosting company, but they are very reasonable price-wise, and provide reliable service, and 24/7 support for $4.35 a month now that I have a few accounts with them ($5.90 for single domain). They offer free user-friendly scripts for e-mail (cgi.bin), guestbook (comments on your site), photo galleries, CRON jobs, and they support PHP, & ASP scripting and third party applications. Unlimited email addresses (100 Mb storage) and I get 20 Gigs of traffic monthly. There is Webalyzer and Webstat tracking for traffic, and it's very detailed. Cox doesn't even offer that.
There are lots of other hosting services out there, and plenty of people here can tell you the benefits of them. I've been with these guys since 2005, and have never had any problems.
I looked at GoDaddy, but they have hidden fees and charges to get their "best price", and you end up paying more than what they advertise. I just didn't like the "bait and switch" tactics they employed when I talked to them. Have an acquaintance who swears by them though.
But go with a hosting service. not your ISP.

  • How do upload a site to a server and make it work

i designed a site using dreamweaver cs3 and uploaded it to a remote  server, but when i tried to test it i couldnt see the flash elements i  had embeded this happens with pictures too. is there anyone who can help  me?

So, what you are saying is that when you view your site locally in the browser everything is looking and working as expected, but when you upload the site then view it in the browser on the web images and flash elements are not showing up, correct?
What are yopu seeing?  Is there a little red x for your images?  Do you have a URL we can look at?
It is possible that Dreamweaver didn't upload everything correctly - it does this some times.  Did you upload your entire site using an actual FTP program? This is often a good failsafe to be sure everything is there.
Hope this helps - please do share the URL so we can be of more help.

  • How to upload/publish Items in CCM ?

    Hi everybody,
I'm just begining to work with CCM and I want to upload some items and publish them.
I dont have Trex installed yet nor Xi.
Both SRM & CCM are installed in the same server.
The steps that I have followed:
    1. Initialize CCM and create Master Catalog
    2. Upload Master Catalog Schema
    3. Create a Supplier Catalog
    4. Upload the supplier catalog Schema
    5. Upload some items to my supplier catalog: in this moment I can see my items in the Content Tab.
    6. Map the categories, etc.
    7. Then I edit my MASTER CATALOG in order to create a view, but for my surprise I CANT SEE ANY ITEM in the View Tab, neither in the Content tab !!!
Somebody of you know what could be wrong ?  =(
Thanks for your help guys !
    Regards from Mexico,
    Diego

    Hi everybody,
Well... I found the solution, now I create a view in my Master Catalog and everything seems to be ok..
HOWEVER, I dont know how to "logon" to the CCM in EBP, these are the steps that I followed:
    I create a service with the following data;
    0                 .../main.do               URL
    10   SAP-CLIENT        120                    Fixed Value
    20   CATALOGID        /CCM/MASTER_CATALOG          Fixed Value
    30   SAP-LANGUAGE  SY-LANGU               SAP Field
    60   LOCALE        ES                    Fixed Value
    70   CCM-USER        CCM_USER               Fixed Value
    80   CCM-PASSWORD  <MyCCM_USER_Password>     Fixed Value
If I logon in EBP I can see this link in the "Shop" section, however, when I click that link I receive the following error:
    - "You must log on correctly before you can use this application"
And if I check the SLG1 I have another totally different error:
    - "Catalog /CCM/MASTER_CATALOG not found"
    - Any idea of what could be wrong ?
    - How can I debug the "real" error ?
Thanks for your help, I appreciate any clue !! =)

    Diego

  • How can I publish sites separately ?

I have 3 different sites stored on IWeb and only one of them is ready for publishing.
Can someone tell me how I can do to differenciate publishings...
Can I open a new session of IWeb, (that is without my saved sites) without having to erase the "old" session.

    Welcome to the discussions MacBookPro
All of your websites are held in one file, domain.sites, this file lives here:
    User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites
If you want to publish each site seperately then you need to create seperate domain files for each site, there are some tips Here (www.willg4pb.com) that discuss the process in more depth.
Simply create duplicate domain files, ctrl+click on the domain file and then choose "Duplicate", for each site you want, and simply delete the sites that you dont want in each domain file. Be careful not to lose your data, make sure that you create backup files, before doing anything!

  • How do i publish site now that Mobile Me has shut down?

Previously published my web site to Mobile Me, now it is shut down.  I have tried to move it to iCloud but cannot find it, or nothing seems to be happening.

With iWeb '08 you need to publish your site to a local folder and upload the files to your new host using an FTP application...
    http://www.iwebformusicians.com/Search-Engine-Optimization/Upload.html
If you used a domain name with MobileMe you need to contact your domain name registrar and get this pointed to the files on the new server.

  • How do I Publish site to another .mac account

Hey I made a site for a friend and she just got herself a .mac account. What's the easiest way to tranfer the site off of my account over to hers?
I know it's probably a stupidly easy solution but I would appreciate any help.
    Dual 2.0 G5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    1. Open .Mac preferences
    2. Put in her login info
    3. open iWeb
    4. publish the site
If she does not have iWeb, then skip to step 6.
    5. Open up ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/ and copy the domain.sites file to her iDisk.
    6. open up .mac and change your preferences back.

  • How do I publish to a pre-existing site?

I'm a self-taught web designer who started doing our church website years ago because no one else would do it, so there are gaps in my understanding of how certain things work.  I have used a web design program for several years and use Smart ftp to upload it to our domain.  We have a local company that hosts our site.  The program was okay for the time, but I have been redesigning it in Muse and love what I'm doing.  Is it okay to export the Muse site to the host folder that we currently use?  Would it replace what I have there now or would it confuse things too much?  Thanks.

    Hello,
Yes you can go ahead and upload the Muse created site to the same folder at Host.
Please take a look at the link below that explains how to upload your site to a Third party FTP host. You can either select the option to "Upload to FTP Hosts" or "Export as HTML"
Adobe Muse Help | Uploading an Adobe Muse Site to a third-party hosting service
To answer the second part of you Question I would Suggest you to Get the root folder at you Host Empty and then Upload your Muse site to avoid any unexpected behavior. (Don't Forget to take back up of the file you delete from host)

  • How do I upload iWeb-site without using 'Flie Publish' feature?

Due to corporate firewall restrictions I cannot use iDisk, Sync or iWeb to connect to .mac, which presented a problem when I wanted to Publish my iWeb site.
I have uploaded the site [via webdav, with Transmit] to the Sites folder of my iDisk, but I can't find my site when I enter my .mac URL into my browser (http://web.mac.com/myusername or http://homepage.mac.com/myusername).
Theoretically, is this the right way to upload to iDisk without using iWeb? Is there anything else I need to do to link my URL to the files in iDisk/Sites?
    Thanks in advance, Lee.

Ok, my member name is leepaulvickers.
    I've tried
    http://web.mac.com/leepaulvickers
    http://web.mac.com/leepaulvickers/iweb
    http://web.mac.com/leepaulvickers/leepaulvickers
    http://homepage.mac.com/leepaulvickers
but just get the 'we can't find the HomePage you've requested' 404 error.
BTW I've used Transmit to upload to my iDisk in the past, such as files and photos with no problems. I assumed there would be no trouble with iWeb's files...

  • How to upload site created with Dreamweaver via FTP to the iWEB server?

    Hi everyone,
I recently created a site on Dreamweaver and want to upload the site, via FTP to the iWEB server. My questions are the following:
    1. What is the FTP host address?
    2. How do I connect to my website via FTP?
Any help on the following questions will be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Hello Lauretta and welcome to the forum.
You do not connect to iDisk via FTP. iDisk uses WebDAV. Also you do not need to manually upload the published files to iDisk as recommended buy others in this thread. Once the site and server is set up in DW you can publish and upload directly through DW.app Check out this post for more info.

how to upload and publish iphoto slide show to icloud on mac book pro

Just log into your MobileMe account and go to your iDisk and delete the iWeb site that is there.
You can load your other site there by simply dropping and dragging your files for your new site to the Sites folder on your iDisk. Alternatively, MobileMe uses webdav so you can use Cyberduck to publish too.

  • How to restore uploaded iWeb sites as iWeb data on your computer.

My original internal HD died. Fortunately, I had data backed up with Time Machine. Unfortunately, I had turned off automatic backup because Time Machine was giving my computer problems and I'd forgotten to do a manual backup. So the last backup my Time Machine did was in 2008. In that time when I Time Machine was turned off, I had created a few sites on iWeb and uploaded to my Mobile Me account. I now have a new HD and restored all my data from my Time Machine backup but the most up to date are from 2008. I've lost the iWeb files created in 2009. Is it possible to restore my iWeb files to my computer from the files I uploaded to the Mobile Me server? If so, how would I do it? Hope there's a way. Thanks.

As you already found out you'll have to rebuild from scratch. However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing image, audio and/or video files in the published site in the reconstruction of the site.
Also it might be a good time to develop a backup strategy.

  • How can I get iWeb to visit the proper published site?

I originally set iWeb 2.0 to published to a website for my business (www.globaltradeexpertise.com) and since then, I changed that site's host to another hosting company. I decided to use .mac for my personal website, www.jenniekessinger.com - and have changed .mac to publish to that domain name - which it has just fine. However, now, when I update the site and publish it, iWeb tells me that it is published and to go to www.globaltradeexpertise.com - which is not the right site. The published changes are made to the proper site, www.jenniekessinger.com - so how can I get iWeb to reflect that address after if finishes publishing and when I select "visit published site" from the file menu?
    Any help would be appreciated!

Maybe you could let me know which hosting service you are using so that I can add them to my list of those NOT recommended for iWeb users!
I just dealt with one today who claimed the iWeb sites were incompatible and that the first line of code should be deleted from every HTML file before upload to their server.
They didn't even offer the information that it would be a lot easier to modify the .htaccess file never mind offer to do it for a customer.
Nobody should expect to pay for service like this and the answer is to dump them and go to a company that gives you some value and support for your money. If the ones on this page don't meet your requirements for cost and service...
