How to upload video from Canon Vixia HF R52 to DropBox

Just purchased a new Vixia HF R52 aand want a fast way to upload videos to send to friends.
My choice is Dropbox. How to get vidios from camera to Dropbox?

Hello mikeoncamano,
The process for uploading the video to your computer is the extent of Canon technical support for the camcorder.  It may be as simple as copying and pasting the video clips over to Dropbox.  However, when it comes to uploading video to a web site, server or other third party method like this we cannot provide the proper steps.  We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause you.

  • How do import footage from Canon Vixia HV40 to Macbook Pro?

    Hello everyone,
I am in dire need of help! I have to edit video footage from a conference and all of it was filmed on the Canon Vixia HV40. I received a slip in the camcorder bag that said make sure computer and camera are off before plugging in firewire wire. Once plugged in, turn the computer on first, then turn the camera on. I've tried this but my macbook is not recognizing any external plug in.
I downloaded the Canon Vixia software but it keeps giving me this error message: No camera found.
I've searched the interwebs for different solutions but I'm at a loss as to what I should do. Also, is there a way of importing the footage directly to Final Cut Pro X?
    My macbook specs are:
    2.6 GHz intel core i7 v10.8.
If anyone can give me specific, step-by-step instructions, I would be so grateful!

    That camera shoots AVCHD.
Are you using Log & Transfer to access the footage?
Can you see the camera's storage in the Finder?

Basically the camera is not even detecting in the software , not really sure what to do??

Issue: What folder are the videos stored in on the camcorder?
Solution: List of the directory and file structure of AVCHD camcorders
For users who wish to "drag and drop" the video files created by the camcorder the videos can be located by drilling down thru the following folders.
Double click on the removeable disc drive icon to display the root folder of the drive.
Double click on the [AVCHD] folder
Double click on the [BDMV] folder.
Double click on the [STREAM] folder. The video files are located in this folder with a .mts file extension.
    - Depending on the software you are using the file extension may need to be renamed to .m2ts to be useable in your playback or editing software.

  • Downloading video from Canon Vixia HV 30 via HDMI to Mini DisplayPort

Laptop Specs: White MacBook 10.6.6, 2 x USB, Mini DisplayPort, Audio In/Out
    Camera: Canon Vixia HV30
I recently upgraded my MacBook and my new MacBook doesn't have a firewire input. I had downloaded video from my Canon Vixia HV30 to iMovie using an HDV/DV to Firewire chord.
Since the new MacBook doesn't have a firewire input, I tried an HDMI to Mini DisplayPort chord. The MacBook (via Finder, iMovie, and Final Cut Express) doesn't recognize that there is a camera connected.
    Any ideas?

That's a miniDV camera. MiniDV ALWAYS needs Firewire - there's no way around it. There are no USB to Firewire converters. If you very recently (last 14 days) bought the Macbook, and you absolutely want to continue using the camera, you could perhaps return the MB and see if the 13" Macbook Pro is within your budget.
Modern consumer HD cameras tend to use USB connections.

  • How to upload videos from imac to ipad

Hi guys, i have to learn a lot about iCloud, but i dont know how to upload my videos from my iMac via iCloud to my iPad, I have some clips like 7minutes durations 612mb, but what application i have to have to use, or where i have to go to drag and drop it? thank you.

You can only add videos to iCloud if you add them to a shared stream, and if they are 5 min. in duration or less.  To add longer videos, import them to iTunes by opening iTunes on your computer, going to File>Add to Library then navigating to the videos.  Then connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes, click on the name of your iPad in iTunes, go to the Movies tab of your iTunes sync settings, check Sync Movies and check the videos you want to sync, then click Apply at the bottom to sync.

  • Help needed: How to import video from Canon Legria Camcorder FS306?

    Dear all,
After happily purchasing Canon Legria Camcorder FS306, I realise that my IMOVIE HD could not detect the camcorder when connected to my Macbook pro.
    Have 2 questions here:
    1. Is it impossible for IMovie HD to detect newer camcorders? Should I then upgrade to IMOVIE09?
    2. Currently, Canon Legria Camcorder FS306 is not listed as 1 of the supported camcorders for IMOVIE09. It is one of the newer models. Is IMOVIE09 able to import video from this camcorder now? Or in the near future? Or it may never be supported?
    Tks!
    Gam

You would need imovie 09 to use this camcorder.
This camcorder is not on the iMovie 09 supported list. However, every Canon camcorder since 2008 has supported iMovie 08 and 09, so odds are good that this one will, too. Odds are good that it works right now. IF you want to know for sure, call Canon. ....or take your camera to an Apple Store and hook it up.
It might be possible to do some manual conversions and continue to use iMovie 6. For example, you could try converting the MPEG2 files to DV using a tool like MPEG Streamclip. You would also need the $20 Apple QuickTime MPEG2 Playback Component. I find iMovie 09 to be a much better editor, but if you are comfortable with iMovie 06, this might be worth a try for you.

  • How to import video from canon xa10

I can import video file from canon xa-10 camcorder to Final Cut Pro X. Please help.

I have an XA10 and do this all the time.
As Tom said, you just need to connect the camera using the USB cable and then do an "Import from Camera" from within FCPX.
And yes, once you choose which clips (or which portions of clips) you want to import and then close the import window, FCPX has to transcode them.  However, you can begin editing while it is working on transcoding the files.
However, if you disconnect the camera before FCPX has finished the transcode, the media won't be there the next time.  This stuff isn't magic.  It still has to transcode.  The only "magic" of FCPX is that you can start editing the footage before the transcode is complete...assuming, of course, you leave the media connected.
Copying files over first and then trying to import does not work.  You have to do it from the camera.
The difference would be if you were recording to an SD card (which the XA10 will do), instead of the camera's built-in flash memory.  You can disconnect the camera and just connect a card reader (and the card, of course).  But the same principle would apply.  You could start editing while FCPX is transcoding, but don't expect it to all be there if you disconnect the card reader or shut down FCPX before finishing the transcoding process.
    Hope that helps.

  • Import MTS video from Canon Vixia HF200 to iMovie

I am a recent convert from Windows to Mac. I was surprised to find out that my old MPG video taken over the years, and recent high definition video taken with a reasonably new Canon movie camera in MTS format, could not be easily imported into iMovie on my MacBook Pro, something that was quite easy on my Windows 7 computer. iMovie could not read the files. I purchased the new MacBook due to its capability to produce, among other things, superior movies for family use, You Tube, and similar. I bought the Canon HF200 as it recorded to a SDHC disk that made it easy, at least on my Windows computer, to transfer unedited files to my external hard drive storage system, then edit as necessary on any of the commonly available movie rendering software programs. After some internet research on the problem, and not wanting to give up on my Mac so soon, I solved the dilemma by purchasing a software package called iSkysoft Video Converter which made the conversion from MTS as well as my older MPG and all other video formats that I had, virtually seamless. In doing further research, it appears that I can convert my MTS video to either MP4 (M4V) or MOV without any degration that I could notice. I understand that there are other software packages that also convert video in a similar manner. My criticism is that with Apple's very good reputation as an excellent computer to be used for video and other media production, why is it necessary to perform this added step. While I was able to make a good conversion, the process just adds extra files and extra time to taking a movie, then producing a video.

  • How to import video from Canon HF10?

I'm probably just an idiot, but I can't figure out to import the video footage from my Canon HF10. My comp has no problem recognizing the internal hdd and the extra sd card I have for it, but I normally don't work in iMovie, so I'm a little technically ******** when it comes to it's operation. Help?

    To all who care,
I have a MacBook unibody and am running Snow Leopard. I have experienced all the same frustrations listed above and on other related posts with respect to the Canon HF10 and Leopard/Snow Leopard. I will tell you that it made absolutely NO SENSE to me why Canon, a very Mac friendly company, would make these procedures SO difficult. Why would I purchase a compact high definition camera that fits in the palm of my hand if space saving and simplification was not a premium in the decision matrix of my investment? You're telling me I need to travel with a power cord, USB cable and an installation CD/DVD at every juncture of my video editing with cords scattered from heck to breakfast? Well, I don't, and Canon didn't intend on my doing that, either.
Procedure to be able to simply place your videos into a finger sized SDHC card reader after placing them on your SDHC/Class IV or higher/card directly from your camera:
    1. Ensure your card in installed in your camera (duh)?
    2. Turn Camera On.
    3. Spin selector wheel to Video Playback.
    4. Notice Four Options: Movies: Original (Built-In Mem), Movies: Original (Card), Movies: Playlist (Built-In Mem), Movies: Playlist (Card).
    5. The work you've done all goes into the "Movies: Original" Locations. If you, like me, have popped out your card here and beat your head against your computer screen wondering why you can't get to what you know to be on the card, you've stopped here... Here, yes, you do need to follow the book procedure and play the musical cords and curse the poor ergonomic nature of this design.
    6. **Clutch Move** Highlight the work you'd like to edit on iMovie in the "Movies: Original (Card)" section and press the FUNC. button.
    7. **Clutch Move2** Select "ADD TO PLAYLIST", at which point you will be asked, All scenes on this date or simply this one scene. Do whatever you like, the camera means business. Confirm your request.
    8. Check your procedure following skills by now moving to the "Movie: Playlist (Card)" category.
    9. Whattaya know!!! Now something is there that wasn't before, that same video clip I've been trying to put on my computer now strangely exists in two locations on my camera... Well, just push the "I believe button" and trust me. When you extract your SDHC card and interface it with your computer, you will be very happy when you see iMovie respond to your request in familiar Mac style and fashion.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if any of you find success with the above procedure.
    Godspeed, Mac friends,
    Traveling Light

  • How to import video from Canon HV20

to iMovie 10.0.4 using HDMI to Thunderbold converter to iMac desktop

You need a Firewire cable for video. The USB is only good for the still camera mode; to transfer still images from a card, if you have one.

  • How to read .MTS from Canon VIXIA HF10

Hi all, I'm trying to import some .MTS footage to FCP 6. I know I have to use Log and Transfer. I did this before but now it is not working anymore!. No idea what's going on. I already updated my software to the latest upgrade, but still the same window appears everytime I try to import. It says:
"STREAM" (my folder) contains unsupported media or has an invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.
    Could anyone explain or help?
    Thanks in advance

HI, I had a similar problem although somewhat different. As an editor I received 3 .mts files of HD footage. I didn't have the camera model or make and the files were copied off the media card and then deleted.
Fortunately I was told by Peter Bradley that you Toast can read the files. So I dropped the .mts files into the video tab of Toast 9 and they all appeared. I was able to view the footage and am now exporting it to a disk image to see that I get. It may turn them into SD, I don't know yet, but since we are editing it in SD, that would be fine with me.
I will investigate this some more. The DVD that Toast creates will be less than adequate for many purposes since the footage will be processed a great deal in order to use it, but at least I am able to use it.
    Any feedback would be great.
BTW, MPEG Streamclip, which I love and will be used to extract an editable QT from the .VOB that Toast is creating, was unable to read the .mts files. I also tried opening the files in iMovie08 with no success.
    peace, Rusty
