How to use a Crystal Reports Query as datasourc in an other Cristal Report

I would like to read a File in a CR Report, change some data and use the output as datasource in an other Criystal Reports Report.
Is ist possible to use a Crystal Reports Report as datasource for an other Crystal Reports Report?

Are you having Xcelsius also in your kitty??(for dynamically doing this activity)
Xcelsius has very good writing & reading functionality and you can incorporate your crystal report data into it using live office.
Let say you have a report in crystal , you connect that repot to live office .Let say this is REPORT named as SOURCE CR REPORT.
IN Xcelsius import the this SOURCE CR REPORT report using live office connection and using GRID selector there to show tabular data.
Xcelsius has buttons & controls for updating and exporting the data inform of XML SOURCE FILE.
Now you can either make xcelsius Dashboard for TARGET CR REPORT or you can make crystal Report on ADO.NET(XML) for second crystal Report.

How to use Key Date in query

Imagine an invoice was created for a customer on the 1st of January 2008 for £1000
On the 1st of Feb, he paid $300, owing $700
On the 1st of Mar, he paid $450, owing $250
On the 1st of Apr, he paid $250.
If I run an AR report today the 10th of Aug, I would see he owes nothing. What I want to do is to run the report today based on the 2nd of March and see a debt of £250. I dont want to use the posting date in the selection criteria henceI think this is the case when you use a key date but Im not sure how to use this in the query properties of BI7. What Characteristic do I need to specify as time dependant? Is there anything else I should consider?

Key Date setting is for the 'time dependent' master data.
Lets say u have a Characteristic MATERIAL with a time dependent attribute MATERIAL GROUP as follows.
MATERIAL FROM TO MATERIAL GROUP
ABD 01/01/1995 12/31/2003 X
ABD 01/01/2004 12/31/9999 Y
Depending on what you have for the Keydate, the Material group is selected.
If your key date is, ex, 06/12/2001 there material group is X. Or if key date is 02/15/2005, material group is Y.
If you do not enter any value for keydate, system automatically assumes today' date.

How to use the same POWL query for multiple users

I have defined a POWL query which executes properly. But if I map the same POWL query to 2 portal users and the 2 portal users try to access the same page simultaneously then it gives an error message to one of the users that
"Query 'ABC' is already open in another session."
where 'ABC' is the query name.
Can you please tell me how to use the same POWL query for multiple users ?

Batch processing usually involves using actions you have recorded. In Action you can insert Path that can be used during processing documents. Path have some size so you may want to only process document that have the same size. Look in the Actions Palette fly-out menu for insert path. It inserts|records the current document work path into the action being worked on and when the action is played it inserts the path into the document as the current work path..

Diana,
I presume you are getting a "FRM-40505: error unable to perform
query" when you try to execute query. I suggest you select the
"Display Error" item from the "Help" menu to see the query that
Oracle is generating. If the query that Oracle generates as a
result of your "Query data source name" is not formed correctly,
you will get the FRM-40505 error.
Copy and paste the query that is displayed into SQLPLUS and test
to see what happens when you try to execute the query from
SQLPLUS. That will give you a better idea of what the cause of
the problem is.
From your example, a query that works should look like "select
c_no from (select c_no from books)".
Keep in mind that for blocks based on FROM clause, the query that
produces the data is of the form :
SELECT <all columns in the block>
FROM <select statement entered in the "Query Data Source Name"
blockproperty>
The data source for the block is the select statement embedded in
the from clause.

How to use a stored procedure as a datasource in Crystal Report for Eclipse

Hi All,
I've written a stored procedure in oracle 10g with few input parameters and one refcursor output parameter. I want to use this stored procedure as a data source for creating a report in "Crystal Report For Eclipse 3.6.0".
When I tried to add this stored procedure to the report using the connection explorer, I don't see any option to do this. But when I try to add any table, it shows options like "Add to the current report"....
Can anybody assist me how to use a stored procedure as a data source in "Crystal Report For Eclipse"?
Which driver should I use to connect to the oracle database? I tried using JDBC Driver for Oracle.

How to use Results from Another Query for SAP BW universes

Hi Everyone,
I have two SAP BI universes.In my First universe I have Sales Doc no (dimension) and Orderqty (Measure) and in my second universe I have Sales Doc no(Dimension) and BillQty (Measure).
Here in my first dataprovider I have 1200 rows of data and in second dataprovider I have 75,000 rows. The report should fetch only the BillQty details that matches to corresponding Sales doc no in first data provider.
I want to place all these fileds into a single report like as shown.
(Datarpovider1) (Datarpovider1) (Datarpovider2)
*Sales Doc No* Orderqty BillQty
Here I am able to generate single report using merge dimension but it is leading to performance issues. I want to restrict the values at query level by passing the First dataprovider Sales doc no to second Data provider Sales doc number using Results from Anothery Query feature so that It can fetch only the matching records.
I tried it but it was giving the follwing error:
A filter contains a wrong value. You cannot run this query. (Error: WIS 00007)
How Can I get rid of this error. Can we use Results from Anothery Query option for OLAP universe. Are there any limitation on it.
All this I am doing in Webi Rich Client.

Hi Kiran,
I think the filter has a wrong operand. For example, a filter with an empty constant, or a filter that deals with numeric values is defined with an alphanumeric value.Check out for this.

How to use the not exists query

Using obiee 11g,
i would like to know how to deal with not exists query in the obiee11g,
the query is like this
select count(a.col1),a.col2 from table1 a ,table2 b where a.col1=b.col1
and not exists
(select d.col1 from table3 d, table4 e
where d.col1=e.col1 and d.col1=a.col1)
group by a.col2
there are 4 tables.
table1,table2,table3,tabel4
this is what i need in a report,these tables are used in othere places also,
would prefer if its possible to do in for a report i.e.e analysis itself.
If not possible then may be in rpd since if i change in rpd it may reflect every place
and not in for a report itself.

Implement this in report itself can be a tricky and tedious job..But better to have it in RPD - Physical - Select Table type
USE NOT IN in place of NOT Exist..You can simply use SELECT statement in SELECT TABLE TYPE

I have a table site contains one filed SiteCode
Now i have fields like below using the below quries
SThe above are the two results sets coming from the single table ,now i will use these two results /Query in my ssrs Casecade report
1.First result set/Query will use for the first dataset and use these values in the paramet1 selection as PrimaryCodes
2.Second result set/Query will use for the second Dataset and use these values in the parameter2 as SecondayCodes
3.Using these two datsets and create a Casecadeing paramet in ssrs report.
4.so using this information how can i create the Casecade report ,I have tried different ways but i didnt get the soluction
I have done the follw but ididnt get the o/p.
I have created two parameter and mapped to the results but while paramter selection i will able to see only the first paramet(PrimaryCodes) ,and i will not see the second paramter(SecondaryCodes) it could not show me the second paramter values in the drop
down list.
Note:Here i will use the Single Table to get the all the sitecodes
Can some one please help me out for this report.

Do you want to query asterix * ?
select * from mara where matnr = '*'. "then just put it in apstrophes
or you want certain part of string be used as * ?
select * from mara where matnr like '%*' "then use % sign before it
or maybe you want something like this
select * from mara where matnr like '%1' . "then it will look for all materials having '1' inside it

Max/Min functions can't be applied on characteristics. I'm not sure but you can try using a formula variable or exception aggregation.

How to use OData Date filter query to filter data from OData NetWeaver Gateway Service?

I am trying to use the OData Filter query. to filter data records from the OData Service, using Date range for filters.
Please check the below URL for the SAP's sample OData Service, with filter option.
Service Query URL :
https://sapes1.sapdevcenter.com/sap/opu/odata/sap/ZGWSAMPLE_SRV/SalesOrderCollection?$filter=CreatedAt eq DateTime
It gives out following error :->
<message xml:lang="en">'$filter ' is not a valid system query option</message>
Please let me know, if there is any mistake in the Query or is there anything that needs to be done on the
Backend Service.

Once again, thank you for your help.
I am able to filter the records using a date range.
I am sharing the information, just in case anyone out there might need it.
The OData Filter Query for Date Range (i.e. with Two date values) will return the results only if the OData Back-end Service is modified to accommodate such filter requests.
This has to be done in ABAP.
