How to use a Removeable Pen Drive in Solaris 10( x86 )??

Hi every body,
I have installed Sun solaris 10 in my x86 intel P4 PC with Windows XP (Dual boot). I have only a CD-ROM and Floppy.
Its really a pain for me to install any downloaded product or patches. Coz i need to copy them in CDs.It costs bucks.
1) Is it possible to mount a pen drive in to my solaris? As we do in Linux "mount /dev/sda1 /mnt"
** I have a pen drive of samsung 128MB mighty drive.
Can any one help me????

Assuming you have enabled the solaris volume manager (man vold), you should be able to simply pop the pen drive in and find it mounted on /vol

Each drive mounts as a separate volume. There is no convenient way to make them look like one contiguous volume.*
Franky, with an hdd and a ssd I would recommend you put your home dir on the hdd and leave the ssd for the OS and your key applications.  It's relatively easy to do and I think better than moving only portions of your stuff.

  • Can you boot a Mac Pro using a USB Pen Drive?

    Hello.
Can you boot a Mac Pro using a USB Pen Drive? OS=Windows or Linux or BSD or MacOS... I know it is bios specific on a PC if the option is available. If this is possible, does anyone have a link to instructions?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Not to get in to an argument over semantics here, but by saying "Windows should boot if you have installed the requisite Boot Camp drivers," you are implying "that the Boot Camp drivers [are] needed for Windows to boot." I was just clarifying your post so people didn't get confused.
As for booting a Mac Pro off a USB flash drive, if you have been successful in doing so, can you share with me your method? I've tried booting of an OCZ Rally2 4GB flash drive and it's never worked on my Mac Pro. It doesn't show up when I hold option down and if I try to boot through rEFIt, I get an error about my Mac's firmware not supporting USB booting (I have the latest firmware installed, too). I've tried GPT and MBR partitions, both to no avail. Booting off USB hard disk drives is no problem though. And I can boot off this flash drive on a Core Duo iMac.
    Any ideas?

    Hi All,
Looks like it was a driver / incompatibility / unsupported issue since 2 other much smaller USB keys (Lexar USB Flash Drive – 32GB, SanDisk Cruzer Colors – 4GB) were successfully mounted automatically by volfs service as follows:
    # df -h
Filesystem             size   used  avail capacity  Mounted on
    /dev/dsk/c1t0d0s0      5.1G   4.0G   1.1G    78%    /

/vol/dev/dsk/c2t0d0/unnamed_rmdisk:c    29G    96K    29G     1%    /rmdisk/unnamed_rmdiskIt also appears that the Device status of Not Ready from “iostat –En” below may not be correct either since both smaller drives are working fine:

  • How to use a Stylus pen with touchscreen?

I got a new HP laptop with Windows 8 and touch screen. I have a Stylus pen by Targus (and one by +Adonit Stylus). I tried using them in Photoshop CS6, but all it did was move the screen around. I couldn't draw or anything. It's not like pen that comes with a Bamboo/Wacom tablet or anything alike. It's the kind you get for like an iPad or some other kind of tablet like that.
I was told that I could use this kind of pen, but now I can't figure out how. There's no drivers or anything for it, so I'm really stuck. Can I get some help?

Assuming you have enabled the solaris volume manager (man vold), you should be able to simply pop the pen drive in and find it mounted on /vol

  • GPO: CD and DVD: Deny write access prevents user from using their USB Pen drive, but other users or ok

My Users have secure pen drives that launch a CDROM partition with a secure logon app that decrypts the main USB mass storage element of the pen drive on successful logon. The problem I have is that users who install the usb pen drive cannot then
initialize the CDROM launcher app to input their password to access the mass storage element of the pen drive making it useless.
However, any other user that has the same type of pen drive who then plugs it in to the endpoint that already has the drivers installed is able to access their own pen drive or the other users pen drive (providing the know the password).
So I've isolated the problem being down to the presence of the GPO setting stated above on the Removable Storage Access Policy, and by not having this policy in place when a user installs the pen drive they have no issues, but I can't find a way to clean
up a user who is already broken even if I remove the GPO from that user, delete their local profile so that they logon as a new user (no roaming or other data) and use a variety of utilities such as USBOblivion to clear out the registry and file system of
the USB device and installation. When the original user logs back on and then installs the usb pen drive again they have the same issue, but no other users do. I have the same issue if I try this with an alternative user or admin as the first user after the
'clean up'. Everyone else can use the pen drive except the user that originally installed it when the GPO was in place.
If I move the user to a new endpoint or rebuild their endpoint then they have no problem being the installer of the usb pen drive and then using it since the GPO was removed, so what I need to know is what is it about the USB install and the GPO that
is tattooing in Windows somewhere and how do I remove it?

    Hi,
In my opinion, this is probably not Windows GPO problem. To confirm the suppose, you can follow the path below to check GPO settings if there is any change after the software installed.
    Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access
    User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Removable Storage Access
These two policy manage system and current user Removable Storage access.
If there is no change with these policy, it would be better to contact the manufacture of the driver for further assistance.

  • How to use an external hard drive on a MacBook Air?

    Hi there.
Recently I bought a portable USB external hard drive for my MacBook Air due to my full startup disk. I also bought multiple disks for the hard drive. I inserted the disk, hooked up the USB, and did everything properly. When I first hooked it up, I lost all internet files that I had saved. All images, videos and downloads (such as Minecraft and other gaming downloads) from the internet were gone and unable to find.
Now, I don't want to make the wrong move and lose all of my internet files again, so I am asking how to transfer files SAFELY to the USB without any files being deleted. I tranfered files before, but they were just short cuts to the original file, so I am also asking how to fix that as well. My Dad was a computer technician, although he didn't work for Apple, so he doesn't know how to use the USB.
I've tried everything to find my internet files, but nothing. If there is a way to get them back, I'd be glad if you shared that with me. My dock files aren't working due to this insanely full startup disk, so I'd appreciate it if you could tell me ASAP how to use the USB, how to SAFELY transfer files without them turning into shortcuts, and how to get my internet files back.
    Thank you very much.
P.s My OS X version is 10.8.3 (Not with Mountain Lion)

You cannot format a drive so that files will be automatically put on that drive when you run out of room on another drive. Transferring the files must be done specifically by you. You will need to learn how to manage free space on the SSD because 64 GBs is a bit small for much more than OS X.
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.

  • How to use an external hard drive for your music storage

How do I use my external hard drive as my storage for music? I have already saved my music on my external and I have my iTunes program on the computer just wondering what is the next step is? Also I want to make sure I do not use my computer's hard drive for any sizable storage.

sorry to butt in, but this appears to be the best thread to pose my question/problem.
i have successfully migrated my iTunes Library to my external hard drive. the last part of the instructions tell me to delete the iTunes music folder from my hard drive to free up space.
however, i've not done this because i would like to keep a reduced number of music files on my MacBook so that i can listen to music when i'm away from my external hard drive.
i've managed to delete the files i don't want stored on my hard drive, and when i open iTunes without the external hard drive, it defaults to the original location. i'm sure this is not good practise, because whilst i can now play music, the information in iTunes is not right.
what is the best way of storing and playing some of my iTunes library on my hard drive, whilst using the external drive as a 'master'? can it be done?

  • Re: How to use the second hard drive in Satellite A300?

I have been given a second hand Satellite A300 that was being thrown out due to a faulty DVD.
I fixed the DVD and have a perfect working system.
On opening the case I discovered it has 2 x 250GB hard drives. I checked CMOS and the 2 drives show. Yet, Vista only shows the one drive.
Excuse my ignorance but how do I access the second drive?

I have Satellite A300 with two hard drives and each HDD has other operating system. Both HDDs are recognized properly.
I dont know what is wrong there but both HDDs should be recognized automatically.
Try to set BIOS to default settings and check it again.
Try to start bootable Microsoft installation disc and check if both HDDs are shown in setup.
I just hope there is no some hardware problem.

    weblogic61 comes with mssqlserver4v65.jar,

    please advice. thanks
