How to use a variable to specify the color when setting an attribute

Hi
We are using BI Publisher (XDO) embedded in e-Business Suite. So we are effectively on version 5.6.3.
I would like to conditionally set the background-color attribute of cells in a table by using a variable reference; something like this (the ways in which I have tried):
<?attribute@incontext:background-color;$exEmpBGColor?>
<?attribute@incontext:background-color;'{$exEmpBGColor}'?>
The 'standard' way of doing this would be:
<?attribute@incontext:background-color;'#CCCCFF'?>
Can anybody please help? (i.e. is this even possible?)

I was using a variable, so I adapted your example to use the variable, not an element.

Hello,
You can use these variables in formulas or, for example, to pass on certain pieces of information to a function module. How the function called by the function module behaves depends on the type of information passed on.
SY_ROW is used to view the current Table line.

How to use formula variable to calculate the days for a document.

Hi expert.
I have a question, I need to calculate how many days it cost for a document, therefore , it should be like this,
cost days = clearing date - creation date..
how can I implement this calculated key figure by formula variable..
Here cost days should be a key figure, but the clearing date and creation date are the characteristics in the document.
it seems that formula variable by replacement path can not be used, do I have to use the customer exit for this variable ??
any other good ways to calculate the cost days (beside during the data loading or by virtual key figure).
I just want to implement this in the query designer..
Please give a detailed steps if you could, thanks a lot.

These steps below are for the query designer in BI 7.0:
1. First create a Formula in the Columns.
2. Edit the formula, in the "Available Operands" see for the "Formula Variable".
3. Right Click on the "Formula Variable" folder and then create a new variable.
4. Edi the Formula Variable in the edit screen provide the Description and Technical name; select the processing by as Replacement path.
5. In the reference characteristic select your characteristic "Creation Date".
6. Save the variable.
7. Select the variable into the formula and name the formula as Creation Date.
Repeat the Same steps for the "Clearing Date".
Then create another formula for the Cost days in which you mention as Clearing date (Formula) - Creation Date (Formula).

When the Query Criteria is add like

when i run this Query in the Query Window
i get a error message Box saying

Also when I tried to update my MYSQL connector / J driver to version 5.1.5 from 5.0.5 (NB 5.5.1) and 5.0.7 (NB 6.1), I could not get it work (looooong time to search some JDBC classes and with no response in the end) on both of my Netbean 5.5.1(on PC) and Netbean 6.1(on laptop) IDEs.
Could anybody look into this issue.

i wanna use a variable in the sql statement in the jdbc send adapter.
i know i can key sql statement in the "Query SQL Statement" in the jdbc send adapter.but i dont know how to use variables in the sql statement.
i mean, for example, the sql statement is "SELECT * FROM t_student WHERE READFLAG = 0", but now i wanna instead of "0"(the value of the READFLAG) using a variable.
and if i can use a variable to replace the "0"(the value of the READFLAG above sql statement), then how can i send a value to the variable??
request help in the regard.

You cannot avoid hard parsing - as the 1st time a SQL statement (like the SELECT or DELETE statements in your code) is encountered, it does not reside in the server's Shared Pool, and needs to be added into the pool via a hard parse.
Bind variables does not prevent hard parsing. Hard parsing happens when the SQL statement (with or without bind variables) is a brand new statement encountered by the server.
Bind variables enables the same SQL cursor to be reused, by simply changing the bind variable value.
Not using bind variables means that each SQL statement is unique and not shareable - as the value is hardcoded into the statement and cannot be changed via a bind value. One does not design one's code not to be hard parsed. There ALWAYS will be a hard parse in order to get a SQL statement into the Shared Pool. One designs one's code to REUSE cursors in the Shared Pool.

Within this iterator, I want to make a decision absed on the index of the iterator. To do this test, I am using jstl as follows

This test is however always evaluating to false. I have tried cahnging my code using various combiantion as below ...

You will have to give us the whole picture. What is your client computer; a PAC, desktop etc? What are you running on the client computer; a VI or an executable? Where are you going to deploy your library? On the host machine or the client machine?
If I assume that you are running a VI on the client machine and are depolying the library on the host, all you have to do is to create another shared variable and bind it to the variable on the host machine. You can do this by checking the Bind to Source option when creating the variable and browsing to the network item in options. Be sure to have the library deployed on the host side before you attempt to do this otherwise you won't be able to find the variable.

i would like to know how to use string variable onside quotes. what i mean is if i have a LOV variable P_STATUS as character string.
and in my PL/SQL function i give a query as
Q AS VARCHAR2(1000) := 'SELECT * FROM EMP
WHERE STATUS = :P_STATUS';
Is this correct. I Know that the above statement works when the LOV is an integer, but when i use a character LOV return value the above statement does not work. how can i get in the character LOV value.

Your binding are expecting multiple values. You can't bind 1 string value and expect Oracle to magically know how to break your string up into seperate values for the bind variables. What if one of your bind variables actually needed e.g. a comma seperated string as it's value? How would Oracle know that?
You must bind each thing seperately. That's the way cursors work.

when i write all the columns like
execute immediate (insert_string) using rc1.TOLL_ID, rc1.LANE_ID, rc1.RECEIVED_DATETIME, rc1.LANE_QUERY, c1.EXECUTED_DATETIME
but it is not possible to generate runtime variable thats why I m trying to assign all values to a single variable and use it like
execute immediate (insert_string) using (v_string)
how can I separate the values and ho to use it .Don't use execute immediate. Use the DBMS_SQL package instead and bind your values dynamically with loops to cover all the columns you need etc.
