How to use ABAP to load data to a DSO
I have a use case where we load data to a Direct Update DSO with an ABAP program. We do this by directly writing to the table /BIC/Atablename00. While this approach has been working for us so far, it has a few drawbacks:
- no requests are generated (so you cannot easily revert your loads, archive them etc.)
- the last "data refresh" date does not get updated
- caching has to be turned off because the cache does not get notified about the new data in the DSO and therefore does not refresh.
I am now wondering whether there is a more high level approach within ABAP that would allow me to mimic the regular loading process more closely by creating a "request object" to load the data, have delta queues maintained automatically etc.
Is anyone aware of such an API?
Thank you,
Dennis
Siggi,
that is exactly what I was looking for. I also found your blog entry about that topic:
Generic Extraction via Function Module
as well as (an older) howto:

Thank you!

Looks like the transformation and DTP need to be activated again.
The error is RSBK (299) - 'Invalid program status'. So please activate the transformation and DTP possibly activate the DSO's too.
It should then work.

How to use the property-loader?
Hello,
i´m using TS 3.5 and LV 8.0. Now i also want to use the built-in property-loader from Teststand.
Is there somewhere a documentation for "beginners" how to use this property-loader? At the end i want to read parameters from an ascii-file which updates my input-parameters of the steps in the current-sequence.
I know how to read and change parameters from teststand in labview via active-x, but i have no idea how to use this propertyloader-thing.
Is there an easy help file somewhere in the net ( I havent found one yet)?
Thanks for your help.Meanwhile i can use the propertyloader for Limits and Variables which are in a container of the teststep. What not worked was:
1.) setting the properties of a "Messagebox". For example the property "Button1Label". Why is this not working?
2.) The second thing what is not clear: Do i need for each sequence an own property-loader? I tested it with a sequence with one subsequence. Does the subsequence needs its own property-loader?
Currently the import-csv-file looks like this:
Start Marker,,,
<Step Name>,Limits.Low,Limits.High,Cont.Voltage
TestStep_1,1,2,4
TestStep_2,8,16,32
End Marker,,,
When Teststep_1 and Teststep_2 are both in mainsequence then it works. When i copy Teststep_2 in a subsequence then i get an error (-18).
Any ideas about my two questions?
Thanks -

How to use ABAP include in SLT parameter
Hi Frzz,
Could some one guide me how to use ABAP include in SLT parameter to perform calculations.
Best Regards,
Krishna.Hi,
We can have ABAP includes within SLT advanced replicaiton settings.
Go to IUUC_REPL_CONTENT select the applicable schema configuration name.click on "Select Configuration" button.
you could see all the tables that are in replication.
select the required table and then click on "edit settings for selected tables".
in the next screen select "IUUC_***_RUL_MAP" tab . here we hve the option to insert line of code or abap include as per the requriement.
please refer the techincal manual of SLT as well for more detailed information on advanced replicaitons within SLT.
Thank you.

How to use Javascript to load random pages?
I wonder if anyone knows how to use Javascript to load a list
of links stored in the text file.
Every address will take a line, and the Javascript will
randomly select one of the addresses to load.
The user will click the button "random" and access the page
randomly selected by the script.Addition note:
I forgot to say this because my computer froze......(how
lame)
I got the code for random accessing the links.
But now the problem is, is there anyway to parse a text file
into the array in Javascript? -

No dataload.err: Using ODI to load data into Essbase
Hi,
I am using ODI to load data into Essbase. In the load data KM options, I select the rule file and mention that errors be logged.
After executing the data load through ODI, I get a log file and an error file. But the error file does not have the bad record like the "dataload.err" has when I load data through EAS and use the same data and rules file.
Am I missing some option? Is there some option to log the bad data to the error file or some option to generate a dataload.err file while using ODI?
Thanks.Hi John,
I have set LOG_ERRORS to Yes and given a file name. A file is generated everytime the interface is executed, but the file is blank.
I have also set the Log_enabled to Yes. The log file is generated and has the error in it. The error line in the Log file ( not the error file) looks like this -

How to use Reference type of Data Element
Hi guys, is there anyone could give me a trace how to use reference type of data element.
More details i'm going to reach is:
I create 2 tables:
eq.
1. table ZFIRST has field X with data element ZFX (Data element i declared).
2. table ZSECOND has field Y.
Here at field Y (second table) I'm going to declare a new data element say it ZFY, but in ZFY I'm going to use the data element as i declared before (ZFX). Is it possible if I do it using reference type data element (SE11)?
I already did this way, but I got error :
Field Y: Reference ZFX to class w/o interface cannot be used in DB table ZSECOND
What does it mean?. Did I miss something about using reference data element type?.
This error occurs when I activate ZSECOND table. However in creating ZFY (reference) to data element ZFX, there is no error occur.
The point is I need to RE-declared existing data element and ot put existing data element(ZFX) to my current table (ZSECOND).
Any helpful will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.
Edited by: dinivian dondi on Nov 4, 2010 8:30 AMField Y: Reference ZFX to class w/o interface cannot be used in DB table ZSECOND

Apparently system doesn't allow you to type a transparent table field with deep type. This refers to references and tables types as components. The RDBMS (Relational DB Management System) cannot interpret this componenets correclty and mapp them to TABLEs in DB.
So I am affraid you won't be able to type table component with reference to other data element.
The point is I need to RE-declared existing data element and ot put existing data element(ZFX) to my current table (ZSECOND).
Sorry but I don't get it, could you please explain this more clearly. Maybe then we can think of some workaround for you.

Can I use LabVIEW to load data directly into system memory from a VI? The serial card I'm using isn't supported by NI nor does VISA recognize it. I'm using a Call Library function to read the data from the card and now I want it to go directly to system memory.
The data is being received at 1Mbps.
ThanksTwo questions:
One, if it's a serial card, then presumably it gives you more serial ports, like COM3, COM4, etc. If so, VISA would see the COM ports, and not the card directly. The drivers for the card should make it so that you see the extra serial ports from the OS. If you don't see the extra COM ports from VISA, then it sounds like the drivers for the card are not installed properly. Do the extra COM ports show up in Device Manager?
Two, you said that you're using a Call Library function to get the data and you want to put it into system memory. Errr.... you just read the data and you have it in memory by definition. Are you saying you need a way to parse the data so it shows up on a graph or something?
