How to use ActiveX in Forms 6i

Hello friends:
Being a novice forms developer I'm eager to gain the skill of using ActiveX in Forms 6i. I 'll appreciate if anyone could help me finding some online tutorial on this issue. Otherwise, I 'll very highly appreciate if someone would share his/her expertise. I wish to do the following:
1) A master (dept) - detail (emp) blocks : I'd like to view emp records in a ListView like grid
2) The detail emp block in ListView should be populated in-sync with change of prev/next record of my dept block
3) On double clicking a row of the emp ListView the selected emp's info should be popolated to another for update.

why do you need an active/X for this?
Can't you just create 2 default blocks on dept and on emp.
Use the relationship wizard to define the relation. and set the number of records displayed for the emp block to 10?
This will give you all you need with no hussle.

How to use an Interactive form in a CAF Application service operation ?

Hi,
I have a peculiar requirement here:
The user wants that on the trigger of a specific operation an operation of the Application service should get invoked: this operation should pick up a Adobe form template from a destination and then prefill this forms with some values and then store the same in the backend DMS.
It's very easy to accomplish this task in WD Java with the use of Interactive form element but here we don't want any kind of user interaction for these forms, just the form templates will be prefilled with some dynamic values and then the same will be saved as is.
Can some one please provide some insight into how the same can be acieved, any API's etc?.

If I get you correctly then you want to Upload a prefilled Adobe IF from some location without any user interaction and save it to some Backend/Temp storage: You need to have something like you have a user inbox and mail comes to this with the Adobe Form as an attachment, you extract the attachment and read it using available Java apis for reading. You can also specify a particular folder where you can place the filled form and then read it using FileInputStream and can save it in the backend after you have it in binary form in your application.

I have got a simple example which submit two values to the page for itself, means a page has a form with submit botton, user input the form with values and then submit them by submit botton, then the page recevice those values and show it .

How to use Adobe LiveCycle Forms Standard / Pro to leverage features in Adobe Reader

Can someone please tell me how to use the Adobe LiveCycle Forms Standard or Pro module to leverage features in Adobe Reader? Do you also need to have the Reader Extensions Module?
The forms data sheet says that it is possible to leverage features in Adobe Reader but does not go on to detail how.

Depends on your deployment pattern. You can just use Reader Extensions if you're publishing forms on a site, if you need to prefill or perform other processing on the template then LiveCycle Forms is needed. If you want to render to HTML5 for tablet support then Forms Pro is needed.

How to use an infopath form field in the designer workflow

Hi,
I need to send an email to a person field from Infopath form. Can i access it in the workflow. If not, is there a way i can send an email on form submission from within the infopath form.

There are three ways of achieving it, one i will say its pretty straightforward and covers the basic of Infopath Forms Development
1)Populate Fields From Infopath Form at the time of Publishing.
The moment you done with your form and to publish you click FIle>Publish>SharePoint Server >Enter the Url of Site> Then Click Next twice upto a point where wizard asks "The fields listed below will be available as SharePoint Columns" ,
Click Add, select the placeholder in myfields for Person Field , expand the "person" group field and choose "AccountId", give the name to column(this will be SharePoint List Column Name) and for function select "first" and then
click next and Finish.
And use this field in Designer Workflow to send email.
2)Second way is to write VSTA based C# code on click of your Submit action on the form and upload and activate this form on form library via Central Admin.
3)Now other way of doing this is via Event Recievers.
Every infopath Form is an XmL File so on ItemAdded event you can extract its content and implement email sending c# code there:-

Thank you Gramps. It took some time, but I've got it working now. I had to re-do all the user authentication actions from scratch for one of the databases, but it's finally behaving itself now. I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction.
