How to use Adobe Reader, open pdfs with OS X 10.6.7?
I just got a new MacBook Pro. When I try to download Adobe Reacer or open PDFs, I get messages that say this type of Mac doesn't support Adobe Reader. I use PDFs all the time. How do I get around this?
I am not being allowed to downoad/install Adobe Reader or open PDFs. When I try to do either one, I get a message that this type of Mac doesn't support Adobe Reader. I just talked to Apple Care. They told me how to open PDFs with another application andd referred me to Adobe for installation questions. Thanks.

How to stop Adobe Reader opening pdf's in Safari
I've checked all the forums for this problem and have tried all the solutions, however none work for me.
I've deleted Adobe Reader and used a program call CleanMyMac to get rid of all files, so no plug-in's, nothing left of Adobe Reader. Yet, I cannot open pdf's in Safari as it still wants to use Adobe Reader.
I've right clicked other pdf's in my documents and have checked that they are opening with my default program, which is Evernote. The option to 'change all' is greyed out.
What else can I do, other than stop using Safari?Adobe Reader installed? If so remove Reader.
Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plug-ins
Look for these two files.
AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin
AdobePDFViewer.plugin
Right click those and select “Move To Trash”.
Remove CleanMyMac

Adobe Reader does not work-how to use adobe reader on Lion
I was trying to print an international label on eBay via Adobe Reader, and was very dissapointed and shocked that it does not work on Lion.
I was so happy that I figured out how to use adobe reader on Lion, and hope I can help anyone else who is frusterated too.
Step 1. Download Google Chrome
Step 2. Printe your international label, or whatever you need to do that uses Adobe ReaderThanks Shelly! I too was having trouble and thought it was something wrong with my Mac. I still have a big though. When I try to print the saved pdf file, I get a pop-up that says "The document could not be printed. There are no selected pages to print" even though I am looking at the complete doc. It's there and in my print prompt "all pages" are selected to print. The way I got around this, is by emailing the pdf file to a gmail address and viewing the attachment via Google Docs. It loads perfectly and prints without a problem.

Firefox crashes when using adobe reader retriving pdf files
For instance when I tried to get a pdf file from the IRS web site using adobe reader firefox crashes it also does the same thing on other sites with pdf files what would be the problem and how could I resolve this issue.
Hi roy6640,
Have you looked at the Knowledge Base articles [[Troubleshooting plugins]] or [[Using the Adobe Reader plugin with Firefox]]? There is some good information in there. You may want to try reinstalling the plugin as well or updating it if it is out of date.
Hopefully this helps! -
Using Adobe Reader for PDF Files
I am having a heck of a problem using Adobe Reader to open PDF files.
Work very well until last week when I downloaded the upgrade for the program. I had been using Adobe5 (6), upgraded to Adobe Reader 9. Now, I can not open a pdf file that is sent to me. Nor, can I save a file into the PDF format.
I have done the pass word, permission thing, have removed the Adobe 9 from the hard drive and than reloaded it.
Still have the same problems.
Does anyone have any suggestions that they would be willing to provide that might get me back into business?Well up front I would like to thank all of you that responded, and tell you that I am sorry that I have not posted back. But, I have been trying to incorporate and to ensure that I have been following the suggestions that you have provided.
Let me provide a bit more of information:
I am trying to safe a chart from the Reunion Family program, which I have been using for a few years.
I did save one Descendant chart and was able to send it to a group of the family as a PDF file. This was using adobe 5. After I sent that chart, I upgraded the adobe 5 software to adobe reader 9. Since the upgrade I have not been able to save a chart in the Graphic File.pdf. The file saves but when I open the file it is a one page blank document. However, I can go into preferences and by changing the view size, it will show the entire document (sometimes). I tried to save that document and send it, but the people who receive it stated that it comes as a blank page. I also, saved the file as a JPEG and sent it, but the people stated that it comes as a very narrow column, unreadable, and can not be open.
I have went back and removed the installed upgrade and started from scratch, I am using the correct software package, and after uploading it, I do run the permissions program.
So, once again I am trying to obtain some knowledge on how to safe the descendant file as a PDF file and send it by e mail.
It is driving me crazy-and once again proves that the machine is much smarter than I.
Any help would be appreciated. -
Stop firefox from asking to use adobe reader for pdf's.
I have already set Firefox to use the adobe reader for pdf's. It still asks what program to use to open pdf's. Is there another setting I'm missing? IE doesn't do this. I prefer to use Firefox. It would be great to remove this nuisance.
ThanksI did not see a 'program' option in control panel in Win XP Pro

When I click on a PDF file it always presents the "You have chosen to open ..." dialog box. Even though it knows it is a PDF file and should use the Adobe Reader. I've checked the Tools / Options ... Application section which is set correctly as well. I've tried setting it to other aps too. yet it always asks. How do I get around this?
Hi meunchdl,
You might want to take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Preferences are not saved]]. There is some good information in there that might help you with your issue. -
I coach youth soccer and use a PDF template to save my sessions in. Today I got this message when trying to open one of my sessions.
Adobe Reader could not open 'NSCAAInteractiveSessionPlan.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
How can I fix this? I have not done anything I don't normally do.What is your operating system? Reader version?

Adobe reader opening pdf within O365 Sharepoint
Here is my issue. We used to have SBS sharepoint and migrated to O365, since then here is the issue.
When we go to our sharepoint site alias.sharepoint.com we cna login and within the browser we can open Adobe files file with reader.
If we go to Library>Open with Explorer this is where issue are. Sometime it will open the pdf and other times it won't.
We have reset IE, reinstalled Adobe reader, etc...
I recently installed Foxit reader and all is fixed and working for time being, BUT my client wants to use Adobe so I was wondering does Adobe FULLY support opening pdf files in the Sharepoint>Explorer view or do i need an update we are on v11 and fully updated with all the publically released updates.I have an update. I called Adobe to get this confirmed.
If you have Office 365, Sharepoint 2013 running on O365 then I am told Adobe Reader 11 is not compatible when opening a Sharepoint in this way. (Library>Open In Explorer) they didn't say but I assume and hope Adobe Reader 12 would fix.
Here is the workaround, installed FoxIt pdf reader and it will open the files fine for viewing. -
How to uninstall Adobe Reader 9.2 with SCCM
Hello, I am trying to create an uninstall packed for Adobe Reader 9.2 and push it out to the clients with SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager).
But the main problem I am having is that after creating the package, on the left side I drill down to the following folder "Software Distribution/Packages/Adobe Acrobat 9.2 Uninstall/Programs". Then I right click on it and choose "new then program".
Then I type the name and in the 3rd box I can type a command line. So I typically use the following. msiexec.exe /uninstall AcroRead.msi
Then I distribute that package to my client machine in hopes that it will uninstall and nothing happens. I have it set to advertise after about 2-3 minutes.
I think my problem lies with the command line. Probably not using the right switches. I basically want it to do a silent uninstall and reboot the machines
after it is done. I want pretty much no user interaction what-so-ever.
Any help with this is appreciated. Attached is a screen shot of what I am talking about talking about. The command we're using is msiexec /x {AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A92000000001} /qn

Cannot use adobe reader for pdf's on web in FF9
Tried to open a PDF on the web got an error that there is aproblem w/ Adobe Reader exit and try again. After a few trys i am not getting the error anymore just a blank black screen.
Because it was not designed for Windows 7 doesn't mean it cant run.
If you install the applications as administrator, you shouldn't have problems. I have installed both Reader and Pro versions on Windows 7 32 and 64 bit without problems, as long as I did it as administrator. You right click on the setup and select Run as Administrator. You don't need to do it for updates if you go through the update option on the help panel. -
