How to use an iPod shuffle with 2 PC

Definitely, I don't find the option in order to be able to use one iPod on several different PC.
Each time I connect my iPod shuffle (version 1) to another PC than the previous one, I only have 2 choices :
- deleting all the files from my iPod and start a new synchronisation, or
- my iPod is not visible and the manual synchronisation is not available.
Does someone find out a solution. I'm starting to regret my purchase...

If this is similar to what's happening with your shuffle 2g ipod, I may have a weird solution. I spent a few nights troubleshooting this issue and searching many many sites and forums for solutions, all without success. Everytime I plugged the ipod in, XP gave one of the errors at the above URL. I did confirm on another pc that the shuffle was definitely working, because it updated and synched flawlessly. What I finally did to solve the issue was........... remove service pack 2. I know that's a bass ackward solution but it worked! I can now plug my shuffle in and it works everytime, perfectly. The only thing I can say for sure is it's something to do with usb 2.0 on my motherboard. It's a via board btw, with an apollo 333 chipset. Try it for yourself, and let's see if it works. Apple or some other company(you know who) needs to release a patch for this as it seems to be a very common problem.

Any help with this would be appreciated I am trying to update my ipod with the itunes i installed on my new laptop. I currently have 533 songs on my ipod from an itunes library on my desktop and when i plug it into my laptop it asks if i would like to replace them with the new library on my laptop i want to keep my old songs and put the new ones i loaded onto my laptop on my ipod... please help. how do i do this?

I have two laptops (one Powerbook and one iBook) and would like to use my iPod Shuffle with both computers, downloading music from the iTunes of each computer. Is that possible or will it always make me choose which iTunes I am linked to and delete all the music from the other one?

You can set your iPod shuffle up to mount as a disk on the desktop, and copy data files that can be transported from one computer to another. You aren't going to be able to use the shuffle to sync music from one iTunes account and another, however. It was only designed to work with one computer/one iTunes at a time.

Yes. You can sync an unlimited number of iDvies that you control to one iTunes library/account. If using the same iTunes library on the same comutr just make sure that yu go to the ap. music and other pane for the iPod in iTunes and select sycn selected items. Not the the whole library. That way each iPod can have it own contents.

I had the same problem with my iPad, i couldn't get the newer version of itunes because the computer was too old and my iPad couldnt sync with the old itunes. I got a PC from school a few months later so that solved the problem for me. Unfortunately i don't think there would be a program to put your music on your iPod, iTunes should be the only way to transfer files to Apple devices. What operating system are you running and what version of it is it?

Using an Ipod Nano with a Mac OS X and a PC on Windows XP

Hello,
I have a MAC OS X at home and a PC with Windows XP at work. I have been using my Ipod Nano at home for quite a lon time, but I have tried to use it at work for the first time.
However, when I try to see the music content on my PC, it says that my Ipod is formatted for MAC and that I need to reformat it if I want to use it with the PC.
The problem is that if I reformat it, I will lose all its content and I am afraid to be obliged to reformat it when I want to connect it to my MAC again.
How can I do to be able to use my Ipod with my MAC and with my PC?

If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because the Windows OS does not support the HFS Plus file system and therefore will not see the drive. Macs can read Windows drives so you could restore and format the iPod on a PC. Strictly speaking using a Windows formatted iPod on a Mac isn't supported however many people use one without any issue. iTunes will allow you to use an iPod formatted for Windows on a Mac; however, Apple currently only supports using the iPod shuffle in FAT32 format on Mac. Alternatively there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows, this is one for instance gets good reviews: XPlay 2

I'm just in the process of getting an ipod (waiting on delivery!) and want to know how it is possible to have two ipods using the same computer but synchronizing differently. I don't want to risk losing my partners music (he'll be very upset!) and I don't want to end up with his music on my ipod. I'd appreciate it if someone could give me a step by step guide or tell me where the best place to look for the answer is. Is it possible somehow to have two different libraries on one computer? Is that how it works?

There are a couple of methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Have a look at the article linked below. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Method two as Chris has already described above is to set your preferences so each iPod is updated with only certain playlists within one library. There is no limit to how many iPods can run on a single PC. Or how many PCs a single iPod can connect to. Either by Apple design or by any legal issues.
