How to use ANSI.SYS in Windows-7

I am still using a number of extended DOS programs, some of which use ANSI.SYS.
Although Windows-7 has ANSI.SYS, using it the classical way through a command
device=<path>\ansi.sys
in CONFIG.NT  on XP
Which file replaces CONFIG.NT in Windows-7?
Will I be able to access ANSI.SYS through that file>
Kind regards,
Max.

I think you need to be running 32 bit to have a chance but I'd ask them over here.

  • How to use 4GB RAM on Windows 2000

    Hi,
We use a third party application that parses weblogs and generates statistics.
The application gives OutOfMemory exception when the weblogs are hugs.
I am wondering if doing "editbin.exe /LARGEADDRESSAWARE java.exe" is going to help.
I have 4GB of physical RAM and I have /3GB in boot.ini in Windows 2000 Advanced Server.
    Thanks,
    Anurag.

How to use 4GB RAM on Windows 2000You are never going to use 4g on a windows box. The maximum addressable space is 4g. Normally the OS reserves 2g. Which means the maximum addressable space for an application is 2g.
It is supposed to be possible to increase the addressable space to 3 gig. And also increase the JVM space. However, there are risks. The following thread suggests a way to do this

  • How to disable swapfile.sys on Windows 8?

It's possible to disable pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys, however, there does not appear to be information on how to disable
    swapfile.sys.
The file swapfile.sys appears to be an additional paging file from Metro and I'd like to know if there is a way to disable it as well.

hiberfile is EASY to get rid of
    1) disable fast start up
    2) disable hibernation
    3) disable hybrid sleep (this trips up most people) as hybrid sleep writes all the data as IF it's going to hibernate but then goes to sleep. This is in case of power failure. Then the system can resume from a hibernated state with no data/session loss
No reason to disable pagefile.sys, it's been proven OVER and OVER that 100% disabling the pagefile system does more harm than good and creates instability in windows - even if you had 64TB of RAM.. many programs actually use and REQUIRE the pagefile to page
    out code thats idle.
Even just a minimal 400MB pagefile on the C: drive will keep windows happy. That lets it make a mini dump if needed and allows programs that req a swap file to function normally.
Swapfile.sys, you can not turn off. That's just part of Windows 8. I'm not sure WHY it's there.. I loaded a TON of metro apps, and they hogged 6GB of memory, and they were being swapped to my PAGEFILE. So I'm not understanding what it's there for

  • How to use session object in windows application

hi, I am programming in jdeveloper. i need to know that while i m making a web application i can use a session object for the particular session. now i m builiding a windows application for my final semester and i need to insert product id and then it should go to another frame and there it can store multiple information for a particular product id.
    e.g
    product id : 001
    next frame.
    filter name.
    filter position.
when these are added then it should be able to add more filters for the same product id and i dont understand how to do that.
Please let me know as i am lost and dont know how to proceed further. if some body wants to have a look on the codes he is most welcome.
    Waiting for an answer
    thank you

    Hi,
in Swing applications you don't have a session object to store data. You can use a helper class though to act as a temporary memory. Just create a static class that has a hashtable method to add / read / remove data

The salesperson is half right.  YOU CAN DO MIRRORING.  Because of a NEW restriction (that the salesperson doesn't know about) with the appleTV2 (1st or 2nd gen) after an update (which you can flash backwards from if you wish) whole screen streaming is ONLY supported by ipad, and iOS devices with OSX LION or later.  I have a macbook pro (retina ed. for date) and it does NOT support whole screen sharing.  If I wanted to take the update I could then have whole screen streaming but I don't want to update.
    HERE is your solution....

This software (and how you get it is your business) ends that problem entirely.
Windows AND Macs w/o OSX Lion

  • HT3981 how can use track pad in windows using macbook

    Hi everyone.
Can anyone guide me , How can we use track Pad click and right click in Macbook while running Windows 7.?
    Kind regards,
    Kabir

It appears you did not complete the installation and set up of Windows. Did you install the Boot Camp support software/drivers from your Snow Leopard installation disk? If you did you shouls have the Boot Camp Tools icon on your Windows. Access these tools and set up the track pad.

  • How to use trackpad gestures with Windows 8 Developer Preview?

I have installed a Windows 8 Developer Preview on my MacBook via BootCamp Assistant. I found that it isn't support the trackpad gestures! (ex: two-fingers tap to right-click)
So how can I use the trackpad gestures with Windows 8?
    Thank you for all reply.

The BootCamp drivers that you can download and burn to a disc via the Boot Camp application in Mac OS can be installed in Windows 8 (run setup.exe from the disc while in Windows 8, preferably by right-clicking and choosing "Run as Administrator") and will allow you to use all of the current features of the touchpad (including two finger clicking/tapping).  Once you have installed the drivers as described above, you can then click on the arrow in the System Tray and right-click on the black triangle that is for the BootCamp control panel. In those settings you can change how the touchpad responds to your taps, clicks, etc.

  • How to use one pop up window for multiple buttons and input fields?

    Hi Experts,
I have created a pop up window that will be opened from multiple buttons in the same view. There are input fields that the data will be populated from a pop up window.  How can I set up which button that a pop up window is opened from? I also would like to populate the data from a pop up window to the input field next to a clicked button. There are 6 buttons and 6 input fields that share the same pop up window. I would very appreciate your responses.
    Thank you,
    Don

    Hi,
Try creating 2 context attributes, one in your component controller and the other in the pop-up view. Bind the attribute of pop-up view to the component controller attribute.
In the main view, on click of every button set a unique code in the controller's context which helps you in identifying the button clicked. Since u have created a binding to the pop-up view attribute the value flows from the controller.
In the init method of your pop-up view, check the value of the attribute and based on that display which ever UI elements are required.
    Eg:
On Button 1 click set value "B1", Button 2  value "B2" etc. In the init() of pop-up view u can check the values and perform the required operation:
    if(("B1").wdContext().currentContextElement().getButtonIdentifier()){
    else...{
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to use iphoto library in windows 8

Hi guysI have macbook pro 15", early 2011, 10.8.4 mountain lion OS, and Im using iphoto as my default photo editor/viwer. recently I had problem with macbook pro so temporary I purchased lenovo laptop, windows 8. my question that is there any way I can access my iphoto library (as I put it in external HD) and which software I can use for this purpose.
thanks with regards, wait for your response

You may be able to view your photos from windows if you have special software that allows you to read Mac formatted disks - but you can not properly access your iPhoto library - and finding the photo you want and the correct version of it is difficult - you really can not use the iPhoto library from a PC
the iPhoto library MUST be on a volume formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) which the PC can not even use without special software - be sure that you have not put your iPhoto library on an external drive formatted for the PC or you will have problems

  • How to use a multiselector in Windows Phone 8.1

In Windows Phone 8.0, we have "LongListMultiSelector" to make a multiselect list.
However, in Windows Phone 8.1, I cannot find any tool like "LongListMultiSelector" that can select two or more items.
(It seems that ListView can only select a single item.)
So is there any tool like "LongListMultiSelector" that can be used in WP8.1? Thx~

Hi , Just modify ListView style you can create your own design.
Main style of ListView Item is as below
    <Style TargetType="ListViewItem" x:Key="ListViewItemExpanded">

    <Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{ThemeResource ControlContentThemeFontSize}" />

  • How to use different jdk on windows/unix/linux OS?

    Hi,
I always use differen jdk/jre version. but always I delete first then I install jdk/jre which version I want. My question is how I change system jdk/jre setting don't uninstall jdk?

If you have multiple monitors and run Linux, you may want to display different images as your wallpaper on each monitor. There's a utility for that – Nitrogen. The blackMORE Ops blog has a nice how-to on getting Nitrogen and configuring it, with step-by-step instructions and plenty of screenshots.

  • How to use PrepareStatementAsync statement in windows phone development ?

    Hi,
I am new in windows phone 8.1 development.
I want to use select query using PrepareStatementAsync.
Which namespace or directory i have to use.
    Please help me.

    Hi Ravi,
Based on search result, looks like this method belongs to a SQLite wrapper, you can add its package to your project using Nuget:
    https://www.nuget.org/packages/Sqlite-Winrt/
For more information, I would suggest you referring to its official site.

  • How to use offline map for windows store app using c# and xaml

    Hi friends,
I want to integrate offline map in my windows store app but I am not able to achieve that.
    Below is my requirement:
When a user wants to go somewhere where she/he doesn't want to use wi-fi or mobile data but wants to use map to assist her/him to roam around. For this I want to give an option to download the map for that region/area before leaving for that place and there
she/he can use map even in offline.
Is it possible that I can achieve this using Bing maps?
If yes then tell me the processes to follow.
If no then can I achieve this using "Here" or by using any other API or by tweaking any way?
Note: I am showing maps in case of online and user can search for directions or any places in that. I am using Bing maps for that.
    Thanks,
    S.Sandeep

    Hi Sandeepmsandy,
There is no available code sample for this scenario. You may write your own.
Step 1: Get pdf URL from sqlite database. Please refer to the following MSDN blog and see a code sample.
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/robertgreen/archive/2012/11/13/using-sqlite-in-windows-store-apps.aspx. Note, you need to retarget the project to 8.1 and then get two sqlite packages from NuGet before building this sample.
Step 2: Use some special classes to get file from serer.
HttpWebRequest can help download small pdf files. For more information to see
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsapps/en-US/de96a61c-e089-4595-8349-612be5d23ee6/download-file-with-httpwebrequest?forum=winappswithcsharp. It’s easy for use, but if you want to download the larger or many files, it’s recommend to use
BackgroundTransfer namespace. The classes in this namespace provide a power way to transfer files in the background. See a code sample from MSND.

  • HT1353 How to use older iPod with Windows 7 & latest iTunes?

I have ipod classic 5th generation 30g that still has a lot of my music on it.  My computer with iTunes version that synched with it crashed.  New VAIO Windows 7 laptop can't recognize the hardware.  Where can I get a driver for the VAIO Windows 7?  Can I use my iPod with the latest iTunes?  Will I ever be able to load new music to this older iPod?

I fixed this by un-installing iTunes.  Next installed latest version for 64bit Windows 7.  Opened iTunes and connected my iPod to my laptop using the USB cable.  The driver was automatically updated and iTunes was able to recognize the older iPod and copied all my purchased music to iTunes on my new VAIO.
    Yeaaa!
