How to use bapi /external service directly in application service

Hi
I have to use BAPI_ALM--RDER_MAINTAIN in my caf application
i have imported it as external service.As there are problems mapping its input fields to entity service , it has to be consumed directly vai application service.
But i ahve never done so before.Can someone give me an example as to how t do it.
If someone can give example of how to code in the application service to call the bapi , it would be great . as i have some time constraint.

U have Created One Bapi u want to work with web Dyn pro for java Application Right .
U need the Following
1) NWDS (Netweaver Devloper Studio )
2) jdk1.4 or Above installed in your system .
After Installation of NWDS .
1) Just Take J2EE Enginee Details
a) Go to Window -> preferences -> J2ee Enginee - > give ur port number , Host name Details . and click finsh .
Go To Web Dyn Pro Perspective Click onj2EE engine .
Click On Refresh U will see Green Colour button .
Now ur Ready to import Ur BAPI .
1) Go to File -> New -> Project - > Web Dyn pro Project -.
Give Name , pkg Name Click On Finish .
2) Expand ur project hirarchy -> go TO Application -> Right Click -> Create Application - > Give Application name and Pkg name -> Click on Finish .
3) Now ur View And Controller Are Created by Default .
4) Go to Model-> Right Click on it-> Create Model -> Give Model Name & Pkg name Should diff from Application pkg the Click On Next
a) Here u have to Two JCo Destination Name Like Model Data And Meta data & R/3 System Details like System Number , Host name Etc -> then Click on next .
b) Here u will text filed where u want to search for ur Required BAPI . Type ur BAPI Name Click on Search . Ur bapi will be displyed In Down . click on Next .
c) Now Ur model is Importedint into NWDS .Map ur model data To Controller and Controller Element to View Elements .
After ur Model .
Go to -> Project Name -> Right Click -> go to -> Deploy New Archive .
after wards u have to go Apllication -> Right click -> deploy and Run .
ur output will be displyed thru Browser .

I want to do this to delete some files on iMac 20inch but still have them on the TC for future reference..eg some movies on iTunes. I want to directly save them on the drive so I can delete them from iTunes and gain some storage. (Ps on iMac 20 inch (it's almost full - 320 GB) when I enter time machine, a tab comes up on finder which reads "Time Machine backups" it's able to be ejected like a disc or a connected device. On the iMac 20 inch, I dragged some files onto there as if using it like a hard drive. Is this the correct method? Then I went to my 27inch iMac and saw the "Time Machine Backups" hoping to see the files I dragged from the 20inch iMac. But the files were not there except a folder that said "Backups.backupdb". Can someone help me?

It's not a good idea to use a network disk for both Time Machine backups and other things. By design Time Machine will eventually consume all the space on its output disk, which will then cause problem for your other files. I'd store those other files on an external disk connected to the Time Capsule. The problem with that is that Time Machine will only back up files that are local to your Mac. That means that you'll only have one copy of the files on or attached to your Time Capsule.
By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject. In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

How to use a cascading LOV as a Web Services Consumer?
We are trying to populate a prompt programmatically.
Our program is a Web Services Consumer.
As an example we use Island Resorts Marketing
The cascading LOV for City is
Country -> Region -> City
The City object is key-aware to the customer table
The query is
Customer | Revenue
(where) City = [prompt]
In order to make the key-awareness work, we must select the value (rowIndex) from the LOV
When we run our program below, the LOV for City is not populated, as expected since we must first select the Country, then the Region.
The code snippet below shows that the LOV for Country is populated. We have no idea how to go from there.
Any hint will be immensely appreciated.
Let us know if anything is unclear in the code.

I am using function module " BAPI_WARRANTYCLAIM_ADD_VERSION ".
It needs to copy all contents of previous version to a new version.
While doing so i am unable to copy fields like valic valoc etc. Any ways by which i can copy this values.
WTY will update PNWTYH , PNWTYV and PVWTY tables.

How to use BAPI wrappers

We are developing our first mobile application for laptops with NWDS 7.1. Following the Developer's Guide, we have our application with a created data object model with data objects from DOE and its component (views, controller and so on).
The data object from the DOE has three BAPI wrappers.
How are these BAPI wrappers invoked from our application, for instance when a button is clicked into a view?

Hi Samantha,
In very simple words , i would explain Bapi wrappers as an interface between the middleware (where data is present in CDS) and the backend(eg: ECC or CRM etc).
The complete cycle goes like this :
=> When a receiver(mobile device) create/updates/deletes a data object instance in its local store and does a synchronization,
a corresponding request is sent to the middleware.
=>Middleware processes the request i.e it checks for any conflicts detection to ensure that multiple receivers are not causing an inconsistency by parallel updates of the same instance .
=>If there is no conflict then it invokes the corresponding BAPI Wrapper to perform the required operation(create/update/delete) in the backend.
=> Backend then validates and confirms the create/update/delete and also updates the data as required.
=>Once confirmation of validation and update is received by the middleware it sends a confirmation back to the receiver(mobile device) which initiated the create/update/delete request.Also the data is persisted in the CDS.
=> The receiver then commits the create/update/delete permanently into its local data store.
=>If a rejection was received due to conflict or validation failure, then the
receiver has to rollback the create/update/delete.
=>In case the modification request leads to an update of backend data, middleware checks if the
Subscription state is modified and if it is needed then subscriptions will be recalculated so that other receivers subscribed to the data object also receive the updated data object Instance.

Call external service in a Application service created from ES

Hi Experts
I have the follow situation:
I've modeled a new service in Enterprise Service Builder. This service i'll implement in caf application. In the method create by application i'll call one method of external service.
I imported this modeled service in Create Web Service Provider option in external package, select the Enterprise Service Repository source option and choice the respective Service Interface.
In this moment the caf created a new application service, with methods of modeled service. That's all right.
Now i import a external service of esworkplace. All the step are ok. But the problem is going to next step.
I need to call this imported service in the method of application service. I know 3 way to do this:
1. Mapping the external service with this application service. In this case i have a problem - the method of external service is expose as web service, and i don't want this. Just the method of modeled service must be expose.
2. Create another application service, map the external service with this application service, and create a depency between this application service and the application service created by modeled service. I think this work fine and resolve the problem of expose the method of external service. However i think this isn't a good way to do.
3. Instantiate the service class of exernal service. From this class i can call the method of external service in application service. But now i have another problem. If i see the implementation of this class, it have a static block which call a URL class, and pass as parameter a wsdl file located in one directory of my computer like

        Actually I am calling validate Login method of External service from the application service. When the login fails, my external service will throw user defined Exception.I want to catch the user defined Exception.
    But in the application service , validate Login method can catch only Invocation Exception and Engine Exception.
   These two exception are present in the Application service remote interface.
