Have you tried copying the required font to a directory X knows about; eg.,
/usr/share/fonts/local
(assuming that is in your fontpath)?
I don't have a font called terminal in my /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/ but
having Tamsyn there and in the fonts/local means I can use it in TTY and X.
No that doesn't seem to work, it looks like they are a different format (PSF versus PCF).
There is this for converting PCF to PSF: http://unix.stackexchange.com/a/21144 (courtesy of...)
So we should need a utility to do the opposite i guess.
As always, there are a couple of steps:
You can use psftools to convert from .psf to .bdf, and from there to .pcf
...in theory, anyway
Both tools are helpfully available

  • HOW TO: using custom fonts in native storyboard views from an ANE on iOS

    Hey,
In our apps, we have embedded storyboards into an ANE, and successfully used those screens in an AIR app, and figured out how to use custom fonts in those views.
I wrote a quick blog post about it and just thought I'd share it real quick in case it helps someone.

    Hi WayHsieh,
    >>can I just "install" fonts through Word App? Does Word Apps have enough privilege to install fonts on Windows? Can I just click a button in Word App, and then it will install fonts automatically?<<
Based on my understanding, it is hard to achieve the goal. Because the app webpage is hosted inside an Internet Explorer control which, in turn, is hosted inside an app runtime process that provides security and performance isolation and it is under
    low-Integrity level.
Here is the figure for apps for Office runtime environment in Windows-based desktop and tablet clients:

  • Can't figure how to get larger fonts in terminal

I am new and very happy to say I've got Arch/XFCE/nfs working on network and soon to work on Samba but how in the wide wide world of sports can I get larger font on my terminal when in XFCE?

I too have experienced the "agony of defeat" with fonts and xterm.  Here is how I use to launch my xterm:
xterm -fa "andale:size=18" -bg black -fg white -geometry 80x25 -tn xterm-color -sl 1000
    * The key is the "size" parameter after the font (fa)mily name.  I was using True Type fonts and was using "andale" in this case.  I believe the size field should be applicable to whichever font you choose.  Alternatively, I believe you can pass the "-fs" option to xterm to accomplish the same thing as ":size".
    For example,
    xterm -fa "andale" -fs "18"
will accomplish the same text size as in the first example.  Just try different font size (fs) values, and see which values will actually scale for that font.
One caveat, I believe the "fa" option for xterm is limited to the freetype library fonts.

I have successfully used Russian Fonts in LV 7. There are two ways to go about this. The first way is to use an ini or config file to do the conversion for you. This way you can type russian into the file and read in the proper strings. The second way is to take the integer value of the character and type cast it to a string. You must have the russian font installed first before this will work. My example used the alphabet and converted it to Russian. I used the ER Univers 1251 font and used a for loop that will run 32 times and added the iteration terminal with the value of 192 for lower case and type cased each value into a string from an integer. For upper case letters add the iteration terminal with 224. This will display the Russian Alphabet. Hope this h

    Hi.
You can execute scenario from command line http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/integrate.1111/e12643/running_executions.htm#BABJEHIG:
    On UNIX systems:
    ./startscen.sh <scenario_name> <scenario_version> <context_code> [<log_level>] [-AGENT_URL=<remote_agent_url>] [-NAME=<local_agent_name>] [-SESSION_NAME=<session_name>] [-KEYWORDS=<keywords>] [<variable>=<value>]*
    On Windows systems:
    startscen.bat <scenario_name> <scenario_version> <context_code> [<log_level>] [-AGENT_URL=<remote_agent_url>] ["-NAME=<local_agent_name>"] ["-SESSION_NAME=<session_name>"] ["-KEYWORDS=<keywords>"] ["<variable>=<value>"]*

  • How to use fdisk -e in terminal?

My problem is bit complicated, I will try explain this simple as possible.
It started because disk drive random eject, detail on this thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=13106931#13106931
Now one of my partition didn't mount. I try to fix this using disk utility -repair disk function- and disk warrior, both not succeed. Then I want to try repair it using Ubuntu live cd, but before that, some tutorial that I found in someone blog says I must disable journaling. It success at other 2 partition but the one that I need to repair wasn't return any dialog after about 2 minutes, that made me close Terminal. Disk1s2 is the problem.
My assumption after some googling, my partition table is messed up and need repairing. I found enlightenment when found tesdisk http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk . Summaries from what I read there, I should able repair it after run test disk to analyze then using pdisk function in terminal to restore or fix the partition.
What is this mean CHS and LBA didn't match? I assume this value is needed to be repaired.
From the explanation on that site, "use pdisk to recreate the Mac partition map using the values given by TestDisk." Then I realized my partition scheme isn't Apple Partition Map. Refer to image screenshoot #1 it written Fdiskpartitonscheme or better known as MBR. Pdisk only support APM, and so far tutorial I found only write about pdisk:
    http://perrohunter.com/read/30/repair-a-mac-os-x-hfs-partition-table
CMIIW but fdisk -e, edit function probably able to insert this new values on MBR. I just don't know how to do this.
So is there anyone in that able for *helping me to understand how I could edit this value using fdisk -e?* Please don't refer me to http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man8/fdisk.8.html . I've read that and still confused.
If possible using step by step explanation, similar with perrohunter pdisk. I'm not really expert with CLI.
Re-format the disk is not solution.
As for now my external drive condition is:
    1. Random eject still occur.
    2. One partition didn't mount.
    3. Diskutil failed to disable journaling. Thus make worrying if fdisk also unable to do the job. But at least I want to give a try.
    4. Slow write/read speed even on detected partition.

GPT fdisk (gdisk) will automatically look at the two partition tables and if they aren't the same will offer to fix them. There's ample info on the web about gdisk's options. I wouldn't let fdisk touch a GPT partitioned disk, it's for MBR disks only.
GPT disks do include an MBR, the so-called protective MBR. This is usually configured with four partitions of OS-type codes of EF or EE, IIRC.
Mac OS only uses LBA with hard drives. Internally the hard drive maps those logical block addresses to physical sectors, it's entirely possible mismatches are normal. The drive will take "bad" sectors out of use, keeping the LBA the same, but pointing to a different physical sector from a spare set of sectors.
I haven't seen anybody use CHS or ECHS in years. Not outside of some very specialized or legacy environments. The layout of the blocks on the disk surface aren't conducive to using that model any more (as the numbers of sectors present can vary by the track), and given that most everything after the first or second generation of ATA storage allows LBA. All the low-level driver stuff now tosses block numbers at the disk controller, and the disk controller and the disk map that to the particular physical or virtual geometry and figure out where the data with that address is stored, and returns it. SSD geometry, for instance, is entirely synthetic.
As for the GPT, EFI can find and fix what it considered bogus GPTs, which royally twisted some of the OS code I was working with around online disk volume expansions, and also snarled some stuff around non-GPT aware file systems with the copy of the GPT that is located at the highest LBA addresses. (I haven't checked this with the Apple implementation of EFI, but I've met a number of versions of EFI that do (often silently) repair corrupt GPTs. The EFI folks were probably better served by not silently repairing the GPT but rather tossing some diagnostics, but that's another discussion.)
As for the OP, the fix for a corrupted disk volume structure is to get the data off of the disk (quite possibly with the brute-force dd approach, if there's no current backup), and to then reinitialize and reload the disk volume. The dd gets you a copy of whatever is out there before repairs are attempted.
And to the OP, if you want to learn about the GPT structures, go have a look at the Intel EFI site or the UEFI forum sites. The details on the GPT structures are in the EFI specifications there.

  • How to use the fonts in the graphics menu

I am looking to add text from the graphics options on the right hand side of the screen.  When I double click or drag one of the text options to my project a text box appears, however the text is not the one selected from the options on the right – instead the text appears and I can change the text from the list of standard fonts at the lower left - and the font I double clicked from the menu on the left isn't listed.
How can I select and use the fonts listed on the graphics list at the right?   I am looking to use the gray and black "outline" font.
    Thank you!

When I press the "+" at the lower right corner of the screen I am presented with, among other things, a selection of font types.  I am able to change the text color in the graphics menu but can't figure out how to use one of the fonts listed in the menu.  For example, from the graphics menu I select "type" then "text" and from the fonts listed I double click "outline" and a text box appears on my project with "your text here", however the font is "rosewood std" and the only fonts available are from the typical list - no outline font as listed in the graphics menu on the right.   When I double click the text type "outline" the font doesn't change.  I think I am missing a step somewhere but can't figure it out.   Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

  • How to use a font in font book

    Hi,
i have a font sitting in my 'font book' called 'arial hebrew bold'.How do i get to use this font either in word or illustrator? I am wanting to send hebrew letters to a printer/cutter to produce some hebrew letters for me. The font shows up in font book but does not show up in the font list of word or illustrator??
    nibbs

MS Word for Mac does not support correct Hebrew and for Adobe apps you should use the special ME version.  The best OS X apps for Hebrew are Mellel, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, and Open/Libre/NeoOffice.
If you want to type Hebrew, you first have to go to system prefs/language & text/input sources and check the box for Hebrew, plus the box for Show Input Menu in Menu Bar and the box for Keyboard Viewer.  Then you select Hebrew in the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen and type away.  Select Keyboard Viewer to see which key does what.  You cannot really use Arial Hebrew until you do that (unless you want to input via the Character Viewer).
