How to use Console to find Trash commands?

I know Console is powerful, but I don't know exactly which log on the left-hand side bar to select to look for trash "entries".
I need to run a search in Console to discover if/when large movie files would have been deleted (moved into Trash) and a second search to discover if any downloading activity took place during a certain time period.
This is a Snow Leopard Air, and the trash bin is empty.
Any help really appreciated! I don't know which of the items to select on the left, and I'm doing this at work and under deadline. A lot of money is involved, so my boss really needs an answer on this one.
We're not sure if the client was downloading movies on the company's dime, or if the MacBook Air was hacked by a torrenter and used as a hub.

I'm reasonably sure that the activities you mentioned — emptying the Trash, and downloading torrents — would not be logged. Of course, there are software auditing packages you can install to monitor such activities, but they would have had to be installed prior to the activity taking place.
Your best bet is to try basic over-the-counter data recovery software to try to undelete the trashed files. As long as the empty space hasn't been overwritten since the trash had been emptied, the chance of recovering at least part of the data is decent.
Sounds like more of a personnel issue than a technological issue, in the end.

You can use vb coding in BEx Analyser to calculate your unit price. For this you have to first display the attributes of your object "XYZ". Then you can use VB cosing to calculate the value for the unit price field.
One more thing cna you clarify whether is it display attribute or variable ?

Google Maps dowloaded, but don't know how to use it or find what I just downloaded?

just bought a blackberry curve and know nothing about it. I went to google maps and clicked download, and it finished downloading and now I do not know how to use google maps or find where it is on my phone. How do I find where it is on my phone? (When I finished downloading it asked if I wanted to "run" or something else, I checked the other box - Also, if I go back to google and try to download google maps again it says it was already downloaded on my phone!)
I do know how to use google maps on a computer, just not on my phone.

Assuming that it downloaded and installed ok on your Curve, the first step is to find the application icon. Depending on your theme you're using, you may need to press the menu button to display the full list of applications. Do that by pressing the button to the right of the trackball (with the dots).
The google maps icon is kind of orange and looks like a little folded map. After you click on that, it's pretty straight forward. Click on the menu button to search for a location and get directions.
Hope that's not too basic of instructions. Besides from email, google maps is the thing I use the most. Verizon cripples the GPS, but the approximate location based on cell towers is still super useful. Enjoy!

I need to use Java with PL/SQL commands to send an email with attachment. My java application runs from the command line and does some magic to gather info from an Oracle 11g db. If the DB has sendmail configured, I'd like to send the results of the data gathering as an attachment to the email addresses. I'm not sure how to do this. I've been reading up on on PL/SQL can send email with UTL_SMTP - with attachments. I'm just not sure how to translate that into being triggered by my Java application. Any suggestions or pointers on what I should read would be appreciated.
Background - I've been programming in Java for 10+ years, but this is my first time using databases. I also have been on these forums for a long time, but lost my profile when it was switched to Oracle.

But this doesn't work! - All files (including jpegs) are dimmed, and user can't choose any....

I have found, that most of images on my computer has missing file_type, I don't know why..... so "type identifier of (info for (choose file))" also doesn't work properly.

How can I customize the "Find" tool (Command+F), so that I can search for partial words?

In other words, let's say I'm on a webpage and I want to search for each time the word "Apple" is used. So I hit Command+F and the Find banner appears.
If I type in "apple," it works just as it should. But if I type in "pple" or any other internal part of the word, it doesn't come up.
Is there any way to customize the find tool so that I can search for the internal bits of words to find it? Other browsers like Chrome and Firefox don't have this limitation.

The find my ipod app does not make it so you can find your ipod. it makes it soi you can find your other idevices from your ipod.
You would have had to set up the find my ipod feature on the ipod itself before it was lost AND the ipod has to on AND it has to be connected to wi-fi. Then you can go to icloud to locate your ipod.

How to use Xcode Tools with a Command Line Project

I'm using Xcode 3.2.6, C compiler. I've had an application for years that is command-line on the terminal, compiling with a makefile. Now I want to actually use the performance tools included with Xcode, such as threads, time profiler, etc. How do I do this?
I created a project for it (never did that before), added source files, etc -- it seems to work. It created the application, which will run via the terminal like always. But whenver I try to use Run (inside Xcode), a window opens up saying "Stop Executable". I have to click OK and that's the end of it. Nothing has happened.
I found an old query on the web similar to this from 2008. The suggestion was to open the console. Still nothing. "Sync with Debugger" does no good. Please help!

Hello, Spotlight in Yosemite gives you the opportunity to reveal all files in the Finder (show all files in Finder) but can it reveal in finder just the want you want? We could that with Maverick, using command. Command now seems shows you only where it is, but it doesn't take you to take to finder. Thank you

Sorry for not being more clear, I looked at your links but I couldn't find the solution. Spotlight allows you to show "all results from your Mac in the Finder" but my questions is: can spotlight reveal a specific file in the finder? Showing all results in the finder is not very helpful because it shows too many. I used to be able to do it all the time with Maverick but I don't know how to do it with Yosemite, maybe it is no possible.

How to use Terminal to Find or Locate files without extensions?

I'm conversant with the cli, but not a power-user. I've discovered a fairly large number of audio files, across dozens of sometimes nested folders, that (somehow) lost their '.aif' extension and now appear as Unix Executable Files. Upon appending said files with the proper extension, they are perfectly normal audio aif's.
My Problem: using the Terminal, how can I search a directory tree to find those files *without* an extension, discriminating between files and folders, and then append the correct extension to only the files?
I've tried a number of queries, mostly built around the idea of using 'filename.*', but for some reason searching for an extension omission (as opposed to a specified string) isn't so simple.
The following: ls -al *.
Brings up 'No such file or directory'
And the following ls -al .*
Brings up files AND directories
I need o discriminate between files and directories, finds all files without extensions, and rename them with the appropriate extension.
Can anyone help?

The following will find files without a file extension in the current working directory and any sub-directories->
find . -type f ! -name "*.*"
If you are confident that the files found are the appropriate audio file (in this case aif) then you could->
find . -type f ! -name "*.*" -exec mv {} {}.aif \;

How to use left-justified with Move command??

I have a field BKPF-XBLNR which I have to download to an final output table. I am using the command "Move"...
Move T_BKPF-XBLNR to T_OUTPUT-XBLNR.
My problem is that for some records this field is a combination of characters and numbers ... but some are purely numbers ... The records which are a combination of character & numbers are left justified where as the numeric one's are getting right justified once I get the output in the excel sheet ... How do I make these numeric ones left justified ... ??

You can use this:
shift T_BKPF-XBLNR left deleting leading space.
Move T_BKPF-XBLNR to T_OUTPUT-XBLNR.
if it does not work then
data : temp_xblnr type char16.
Move T_BKPF-XBLNR to temp_XBLNR.
shift temp_XBLNR left deleting leading space.
Move temp_XBLNR to T_OUTPUT-XBLNR.
I am sure it will work.

I think you might do better to edit the hyphenation in the Dictionary.
One reason words hyphenate incorrectly is the wrong language has been applied. Both spell checking and hyphenation rules are governed by the language selected for the text, and language is a character-level attribute so that you can select inidvidual words and assign a different language to them if you like.
If that's the probelm here, you can look for the word using find/change (without worying about the hyphen) and change the language for all instances.
In either case you will be far better off fixing the problem on a global scale in the document than you will be finding a particular instance of that word at the end of a line. Any editing you do in the future may cause the problem to reappear somewhere else.
