How To Use CS5 Perspective Tool

Does anyone know how to place jpgs using the perspective tool without converting it to a vector? The file is too large for the web. Any tips?

I can only find one way and it is a little funky.
1. select the plane you want the picture to be on
2. then create or drag a shape to it, it can be any closed path.
3. with the shape selected go to the Draw Inside command near the bottom of the Tool Panel and select it.
4. while the Draw Inside Object is selected go to File>Place and select your image and click OK
5. You will probably have to reposition the image and perhaps resize it as well.
this is how it works and you can see from my watermark that the image in perspective
you have use the direct select or selection tool to reposition and resize the image a little tricky but work able.
this will be a feature request to make such a container for images to be used on the perspective grid.

  • How to use the mesh tool

I am not sure how to use the mesh tool

it can be tricky! it's best to use with geometric shapes and not random figures that you create with the pen or brush tools.
so lets say you wanted to make an apple using a real picture for reference. first off, you'd place the picture of the real apple in the background. next, you would choose the circle tool to create a circle around the apple. then, you would use the mesh tool and press the center anchor to create a simple grid looking form onto the circle. grab the selection tool to move around the anchor points surrounding the apple to make a more accurate outline. after this step, it's easier to add more anchor points for the actual apple! all you must do is grab the pen tool and add more anchor points along the path and use the selection tool to move the anchor points around the apple; eventually it'll look somewhat like a 3D graph of an apple. important tip to remember, the less lines the better. but a few are okay.
so after you've graphed/mapped out your apple you're going to want to press the selection tool and use your eyedropper tool to get an accurate color of the spot/anchor you selected. the basic point of the mesh tool is to outline a picture,@ and with the eyedropper tool you can use the exact colors from the original picture you're working from. i learned this technique from class. here's my example it can be a really useful tool if it's what you're looking for.

  • How to use "redefine edge" tool?

I've seen the tutorial and the video about this tool where he taps and hold for a second or so to activate the function.... But it does not work... It paints normally and comes back to the same. Can anyone help. Is there a manual coming? Some keys I have no idea what mean.

    Hi KingR2,
Refine edge works really well for selecting shapes that have very textured edges (like grass, leaves, hair, or fur). If all you want is to get a soft-edged selection, you should make your selection and then tap the Selection menu and choose Feather. The larger the Radius you use, the softer the selection edge will become.
To really get a good view of your soft edge try this:
    Make a selection.
Use the Refine Edge or the Feather feature depending on the subject matter.
While the selection is still active, tap the Add Layer button and choose Layer from Selection.
To get a good look at the edges, turn off the other layers so you can only see the one you just created.
Here is a good example of when Refine Edge works most effectively. Compare the edges where the horse's mane and whiskers appear:
    I hope this helps,
    Luanne

  • How to use the redeye tool in Aperture 2

    Hello fellow Aperturians,
I am trying to get my head around the redeye tool. I select a photo, face, eye. I then select the redeye tool, adjust the size I want, and then click the button but nothing happens at all. If I am doing it wrong please fill me in. When I click the help menu, it comes up with no topic. Appreciate the help.
    Cheers.

    Select the red eye tool.
It is usually good to zoom into 100% - use the Z key.
Adjust the radius slider to only the size of the red-eye you want to remove - maybe a little tiny bit bigger.
Click on the eye - it should leave a yellow circle bullseye thing over the eye that you can see or adjust when the red eye tool is selected.
    Repeat.

  • How to use iTunes consolidation tool

is the iTunes consolidation tool smart enough to not copy files that are already present in the destination folder?
Scenario - I have two libraries that appeared by mistake. One on my iMac and one on my Drobo. The newest library is on my Drobo. I just changed the destination drive for new music to be my iMac but now I want to move all media that appears on my Drobo over to my iMac, but I don't want to copy any media to the iMac that is already there.
Will the consolidation tool just copy the entire 450 gigs off my drobo and drop it on my iMac, or will it recognized that 445 gigs are already there and not copy them?

This is a little tricky. If iTunes knows about the files in the new location, then it will not copy them again. But if iTunes does not know about the files in the new location it will likely copy them (you'll likely end up with two copies of the files - one that iTunes knows about, and one that itunes does not know about.
Try it with one track. Select a track. "control" click on the track, and choose "show in finder". This will show you where iTunes thinks the track is. If it is in the old location, "control" click again, this time choose "consolidate files". This will copy the file to the new location. "control" click on the file again to see where itunes thinks the file is now, and if you see a duplicate. It is possible that if the file is identical it will not make a copy, but more likely it will make a copy and give it a name with a number added to the end.
If you know the drobo has everything you want, and there is not unique content on the iMac (and iTunes thinks all its files are on the drobo) you might want to delete the iMac folder, then consolidate and have everything copied over.

  • Using perspective tool with text in AI CS5

    Hi,
I am new to AI CS5 and was wondering if someone could please tell me how to use the Perspective tool with text?  Also, does the text have to be expanded in order to use the perspective tool or is that not recommended?
    Thank you,

    Hi Diane,
Here's a video showing how to do it http://vector.tutsplus.com/tutorials/tools-tips/quick-tip-put-text-into-perspective-using- illustrator-cs5/
For more, please refer to the Illustrator CS5 help docs on Perspective drawing.

I have illustrator cs5. I have front, side, rear, plans of vehicles. I need to create 3D illustrations. I did a line trace of these elevations and projected them to the perspective grid using the perspective tool.  I got distorted image on each side of the grid.  What do I need to do?

  • How can I add to an existing path using the pencil tool?

This probably seems like a rather elementary question, but
whenever I draw a path using the pencil tool, reselect it,
hover over the endpoint, and the click and drag to extend
the line off into a different direction, Illustrator will often
(but not always) erase the existing path and leave only the
    new one that I drew.
    To wit:
In step 1 above, I draw a line with the Pencil tool.
In step 2 above, I reselect the line from step 1, hover over the endpoint, and then continue to draw further.
However, as can be seen in step 3, the line from step 1 disappears after I draw the new path.
I am aware of the pencil setting, "Edit selected paths", and I have checked it to edit selected paths
within 12 pixels for the above example. What I am doing in the above example, and what I
want to do, is to be able to add more paths onto an existing one using the pencil tool,
rather than have a completely new path being drawn every time I lift up my pen to finish
    drawing the previous path.
I also realize that I can do this with the pen tool; but the pen tool is a more
precise tool (and somewhat more cumbersome), and I prefer to have more
of the rough-handed look from time to time.
Finally, I also know that I can use the direct selection tool to select endpoints
    from two different paths and then join them using the join command;
but this seems to be more trouble than it's worth in many cases, especially
if I want to do it frequently for a more long and complicated line.
Am I expecting too much out of Illustrator?
Is my idea of how to use the existing tools wrong in this case?
Is there some piece of knowledge I'm missing?
    I'm on Illustrator CS5, Mac OS X 10.6.8, using a Wacom Intuos4 tablet.
However, I have confirmed the above on Illustrator CS4 for Mac as well.
Any help or comments would be much appreciated.
    Jeff

Thanks @rcraighead - the Live Paint process seems a bit overkill for simply adding
a new path onto an existing pencil path, but I did try the first idea you suggested,
which was tracing a bit over the last part of the existing path and then continuing
on to extend the path. It's a bit imprecise because the existing path gets slightly
modified, but it seems to work pretty well all in all. Nice idea indeed - thanks a million.
I also found that in AI CS5, I can use the selection tool to select all of the paths
in this case and then join them using the join command. I thought I needed to
select individual anchor points for this to work, but it actually works really
well, better than I thought. I seem to recall that previous versions of Illustrator
were a lot more picky with the Join command, but then again this might just
have been my lack of understanding.
I'm curious to know what other solutions to the above problem that other users
might have, so I will leave this question unanswered for a bit...
but I will use your initial technique described - it seems to work
pretty well, in absence of other options Many thanks again for your timely help.
    Jeff
