How to use external query in subreport?

I would like to use report builder to display a simple report containing a one to many relationship.
For example, a list of customer orders where each customer order can consist of many ordered items.
The queries for this report must be external.  Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it?
I was able to do it with embedded queries no problem.
Passing in a query for outer report works no problem.
I was able to pass in a query for the subreport, however, I cannot filter that subreport by the parent id.
Any ideas? Let me know if this is not clear enough, it seems like it should be a fairly common task/occurrence.
(I just started looking at report builder yesterday)

Here is how I create the external query in the subreport:
0. Create your subreport. For the SQL query, you can use the built-in query (just to test the structure of your design) then later cut and paste your query to the external file. To filter out the criteria for your subreport, you need to add the "Parameters" for as many criteria as you want.
1. Design the report. For the SQL query, you can use the built-in query (just to test the structure of your design) then laater cut and paste your query to the external file. To filter out the criteria for the report, you need to add the "Parameters" for as many criteria as you want. (You also might have to add the criteria from the subreport so that you can later specify in the calling file).
Add your subreport, make sure to rename the subreport to something that you can reference later in the external code.
2. Then here is an example of how you will put everything together:
Example: Let's say you want to create a report named "CustomerReport.cfr" having a subreport "CustomerOrderReport.cfr". If you create a query file "qry_getCustomerInfo.cfm" which having the 2 SQL queries named "getCustomerInfo" and "getCustomerOrderInfo".
Here is how you will call the report:
<cfinclude template="qry_getCustomerInfo.cfm">
<cfreport template="CustomerReport.cfr" format="pdf" query="getCustomerInfo">
<cfreportparam name="whatevername that you created in parameter" value="#your passing value#">
<cfreportparam name="whatevername that you created in parameter" value="#your passing value#">
<cfreportparam name="whatevername that you created in parameter" value="#your passing value#">
<cfreportparam SUBREPORT="getCustomerOrder" query="getCustomerOrderInfo">
</cfreport>
Try to see whether this helps. Good luck.

  • How to use external Java API in Java Embedd inside BPEL

How to use external classes inside the BPEL in Java Embed Activity ? Any sample code availble ? Like i want to use log4j API inside BPEL.

No you dont have to change your startManagedServer.cmd/.sh everytime you need to have a Java Embedding activity. You only need it in case of using Log4J. As log4j requires a configuration xml viz log4j.debug.xml and log4j.dtd you need to let the soa managed server know about it. The best way to load this configuration files is using the JAVA_OPTIONS command during server startup.
    Hope the explanation helps.

  • How to use external jars in NW2004

    Hello Experts,
can i use the same approach mentioned in the below Weblog for using the external jars in NW2004.
    /people/bertram.ganz/blog/2008/11/24/how-to-use-external-jar-files-in-web-dynpro-development-components
and if not then what will be the best way to achieve it in  NW2004.
Please provide your inputs on above.
    Regards,
    Siddharth

    Hi Sidharth,
If you are using web dynpro DC perspective then you need to follow the following points to use the external jar files in it.
    1. Create a external library project.
    2. copy the external jars in the library folder os the projects.
3.) Select all the jars from the u201CLibrariesu201D folder, Right click and then select Development Component and click on Add to Public Part
4.Select the first Radio Button (Provides an API)and give some nameto it.
    5. Repeat the step no 3 but now select the second radio button other than as selected in step no 4.
    6. Now build your lirary DC.
    7. Now create a j2ee DC project.
    8. ) Expand the node DC Definition and Right Click on Used DC. Select Add Used DC.
    9. Select the External Library DC with build time dependency.
10.Right click on the J2EE DC and then select Development Component followed by Build
    11. Right click on the J2EE DC and then select Development Component followed by Deploy
now you can use both the libary DC and the j2ee DC in your web dynpro DC as used DC.
But if you have created a web dynpro project only(but not DC) than you can directly add the external jars in java build path
    hope this will help

  • How to use External Tables

Hi, I want to know how to use external tables? The procedure i follow for SQL*Loader in my shell script is:
    Call the sqlldr
    Check return code
If return code = 2. get count of records from bad file and exit.
If return code != 0 and != 2 then exit as fatal error
If return code = 0 then continue.
But i don't understand how to use external table as it is not invoked and does not have a return code.

    Hello,
What do you mean alogrithim, do you mean to invoke external table as you invoke sqlldr? You can generate external table script from sqlldr and use it to load data but you might have to modify the table name and datafile name . You can see if any bad file generated from sqlldr and if yes then you can generate external table (using sqlldr) or based on your bad file. May be if you can list what exactly you want in bullet points, then it will be easier to suggest you.

    How I can do this?
Result I want to get is:

    Can I do this?
    Regards,

    Hi Andrzej,
please check out this thread: Set parameters values depending on other parameters
I had a discussion about query results as input for another query in there.
For creating a workbook, just click on the save button after you ran your query in the bex.

  • How to use power query with sitecatalyst

    Hello,
I need to use power query to import a table from sitecatalyst. Doing some tests I found that If remove the session from the url that has the report parameters, the app will redirect me to the login page, after entering the company, username and password
it will load the report page with the data according to my filters.
When I add the report url on the From Web option, excel does not allow me to add credentials. If I add the login+redirect url it allows me to add user/password but does not load the tables that appear on a regular browser.
Is it possible to consume sitecatalyst without using Report Builder? If not, how you access the security info after you added the url.
    Thanks.

To the best of my ability to tell, the right way to use this product from within Power Query would be to use its API. Unfortunately, we don't currently support either of the methods needed to be able to authenticate with the service (OAuth 2.0 and a relatively-custom
digest-based method). Adding a mechanism to allow use of arbitrary OAuth-protected resources is a fairly high priority for us, and I hope we'll be able to deliver something before mid-2015.
Scraping the website is very hard to do well -- both from an authentication and from a data discovery perspective.

  • How to use Power Query to load data from a single source into multiple tables

    Hi all,
I have a requirement to load my data into three different data models using Power Query. Is that possible?
My source is a SharePoint survey list, with similar questions like:
    1) Course lecturer - John Doe
1a) The course was useful (rate 1 to 5)
1b) The lecturer displayed good knowledge of topic (rate 1 to 5)
    2) Course Lecturer - Mary Brown
2a) The course was useful (rate 1 to 5)
2b) The lecturer displayed good knowledge of topic (rate 1 to 5)
I would like to split the data into separate data models (one for John Doe; another for Mary Brown), so that I can compare the different lecturers. Other than running separate surveys for each of them, I thought of using Power Query to transform the data.
    Is it possible?
    Thanks.
    Regards
    GM

    Yes, this is possible.
Start with a single query that returns you the data for all lecturers.
Right-click on the "all lecturers" query in the queries pane, and choose Reference, once for each lecturer. This will create a query for each lecturer.
Open the query for each lecturer and filter the data so that only that lecturer's results are visible.
Click "Close & Load To..." for each lecturer's query  to load the data into the data model. This will create a data model table for each lecturer.
If your question is more about how to transform such a survey list into a table that can be easily filtered, please provide an example of how the list shows up in Power Query.
