How to use getLastModified(HttpServletRequest) in JSP ?

How can i get the functionality of getLastModified(HttpServletRequest) in JSP ?

First, normally, you use it by overriding the method in a servlet:
public class MyServlet extends HttpServlet {
     protected long getLastModified(HttpServletRequest request) {
          // get the file however...
          return file.lastModified();
     public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
                   throws ServletException, IOException {
...I'm not sure, but I believe you can use it in JSP by defining the method:
<%!
protected long getLastModified(HttpServletRequest request) {
     // get the file however...
     return file.lastModified();
%>The point is, it's meant to set the last-modified header of the request to the servlet/JSP page. What you are doing in that sample code has nothing to do with that. IF the above doesn't work for JSP pages, you do it manually:
<%
request.setDateHeader("Last-Modified", file.lastModified());
%>
