How to use GPS on N95

Hi,
Plz can anybody help me out.. ive got a N95 for 3 months now... and i dont know how to use the GPS service. I reside in Mumbai INDIA. please if anyone can give me information from zero level.. about what all is needed to use this service..
Saludos..
SUNNY!

i've been having the same problems. seems like symbian is pretty bad and doesnt make it easy for users to use the gps. i downloaded the maps and installed everything, but when i run the program, it either cant get a gps location, or is asking me to buy more services from nokia. prior to this, i was using a generic chinese phone with tomtom installed and it worked fabulous, and loaded immediately. from what i understand about the gps on symbian, you have to load all kinds of 3rd party software and make all kinds of modifications to the phone before you can start using programs such as tomtom or route 66. ive tried installing some other gps programs, but keep running into certificate problems. i really don't like symbian at all.

  • How to use GPS on Nokia E65

i am unable to use GPS on my Nokia E65. can u please tell me how i can use GPS on my mobile fone. secondly tell me does it coast some thing

Depending on your software version Nokia maps can be used as a GPS programme. With the latest Version 2.0633.65.01 Nokia maps is included as a standard menu item.
Your other option would be to buy a Garmin Mobile XT pack which includes maps and navigation. Depending on your gegion the price will vary.
The E65-1 does not have a built in GPS receiver therefore you will also need to purchase a one. Nokia's LD-3W works well and is not that costly.
Lastly Nokia maps will cost you as it needs to be activated for full navigation functions. Once again this will depend on your region.

    Hi,
You could use two cheap Garmin OEM GPS 18x LVC receivers for around 80 USD each (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=27594&pvID=14555).
They "have bare wire for connection to a variety of
applications; can output data in NMEA 0183 format (industry standard)
or proprietary Garmin format; provides a pulse-per-second logic-level
output with a rising edge aligned to within 1 microsecond of UTC time".
You should connect TTL PPS signal to the Counter Input of the DAQ Card and use it as a trigger or timing source. On RS-232 interface you have ASCII info about position and current time (every second). Version 5 PPS is also available.
Details about using GPS for DAQ sync could be found on NI pages. Try "GPS synchronisation.
Important: selecting receiver look for PPS (Pulse-per-Second) signal availlability.
My app. runs on two PXI's with DSA cards and PXI-6602 as a GPS18xLVC timing interface.

  • How to use GPS with n73?

hihi, just bought n73 couple days ago, i am new to this cellphone thing. can any1 tell me how can i have gps with my n73. like procedures, accessories and softwares i need to get it to work. is there a step by step guide.

I dont think it needs A-GPS with an external GPS receiver because it gets a lock so easily. I started mine from cold this morning (ie from off not standby) and had a lock in about 20sec. From standby I usually get a lock in 10-15 sec.
I was just about to buy an N95 when the new ones were announced so I'm holding off but I always thought I would more often than not use the LD-3W with the N95 while driving anyway. I think you can do that. No loss because I'll give the N80 to the boss (wife) anyway.

  • How to use GPS Maps

    Hello Friends,
I have bought a E66 phone recently, kindly inform me how do I use the GPS maps of Australia, please give a detailed instructions as I am a cave man when it comes to technology, thanks
    Ras

    Hi ras1
Firstly was a microSD provided with your E66 which possibly could have regional maps pre-loaded but not necessarily?
    1) Assuming that you have an available microSD > 2GB inserted in E66, start Nokia Maps application which will create necessary folder structure on memory card required later. If you accept "Go-online at start up" and you have a GPRS data connection as your access point, you can zoom in and out using "+" and "#" keys and provided that bars beside satellite icon have changed from yellow > green you should see your location on map although map data may have to be downloaded if not present.
    2) You will need to download regional maps to your device using Nokia Maploader v2.0.2 application available here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199
I am assuming that you have already downloaded Nokia PC Suite v7.0 from here: http://europe.nokia.com/pcsuite and not loaded version from CD provided with E66 which by now may be outdated.
    3) If you launch Nokia Maploader it instructs you to connect your device in default "PC Suite" mode (you should be prompted on connection if you have not altered default).
If you get "Waiting for device" and nothing happens try connecting in "Data transfer" mode instead. You will see the various continents and need to click on to explode content.
    4) If you intend to purchase a "voice navigation" license for real-time navigation, you should also download either English(US) or English(UK) voice file as well as regional map. Without a "voice navigation" license you can see your position on map and plan journeys although map won't be orientated in direction of travel.

  • How to use GPS device connected to USB to Serial TTL connector

    Hi,
In case Lesson 3, I found the code to open UART as follows.
          uart = DeviceManager.open(UART_DEVICE_ID);
This is the case that ttyAMA0 is used.
I would like to use USB to Serial TTL connector.
Could you let me know into what I need to change the code above?
    Thanks,
    Marvin

    Hi Marvin,
assuming new device has name like "/dev/ttyUSB0" you can use following code
    UARTConfig cfg = new UARTConfig("ttyUSB0", DeviceConfig.DEFAULT,  115200, UARTConfig.DATABITS_8, UARTConfig.PARITY_NONE, UARTConfig.STOPBITS_1, UARTConfig.FLOWCONTROL_NONE);
    UART gps = DeviceManager.open(UART.class, cfg);

  • How to use GPS without data

    Hello Guys,
Just want to know what app I may use to use my Iphone 6+ with an GPS without the need to use the celular data.
    I would appreciate your support.
    thanks
    Jose

    Hi Fallmists,
To enable your iPhone 4 to be on Wi-Fi when in Canada, please use these steps below. These steps will allow you to connect to a Wi-Fi where it is available instead of you using a wireless network. Also, when you are using your Wi-Fi, the GPS would work off that Wi-Fi connection. I also understand you do not want Data Roaming wile in Canada. Please bear in mind, if you should need to use Data functions in Canada, this would be Data Roaming billed at the roaming rate of $0.002 dollars per kilobyte. Also, if you make calls while in Canada, it is $0.69 a minute for international roaming. Here is a link for international services information for additional assistance.
    To enable Wi-FI:
    1. From the home screen, touch the Settings.
    2. Touch Wi-FI.
    3. If Wi-Fi is not active, slide indicator to On.
    4. To join a network device will display available networks, tap desired network and enter security password if needed.
For more assistance with your iPhone 4, please refer to this link for website on the support page. Please use the pull-down tab to select the specific iPhone 4 device you have to access information and tips.

  • I like to know how to User a Nokia N95 8GB, as GPS...

    Hiya Everyone,
I had download a great app called KISMAC Trunk for MAC OS X 10.5, within the app it has a GPS map, but i cannot work out how, by using my Nokia N95 8GB phone, as a GPS receiver, i can see that the N95 is getting singles from the satellites, but i would like to know if there is or is not, away for the GPS data to be able to be used by KISMAC software?
I have tried loads of thing, but i cannot get the Phone and the MAC to used the GPS data
Please can anyone shed any light how i could get a fix from my problem?
    Thanks
    Flouts

    *nod@scoobyman*
    and i can report success with [ http://www.symarctic.com/beta/static.php?page=extgps_download ]
i haven't used it in a while now, but if i recall correctly i used this app on my N95-1, and something like gpsX on my Powerbook to receive the gps data.
at the time i found these apps by searching for info on using my N95 as a GPS for google earth.  i'd bet searching for info re: google earth will turn up more results than searching for info re: kismac (one is a bit more socially acceptable than the other).
    goodluck,
    -bit
    N95-1 ---> N97-NAM ---> N900 ---> E7-00 + N900 (I use them both)
(N95 was pretty good, N97 had potential but utterly failed to deliver, N900 is absurdly good. Those of you wondering, "should I try N900/Maemo/MeeGo"? The answer is a resounding YES)

  • How do I use GPS and Maps on my new Nokia N95?

    Hi everyone.
Apologies if my questions seem very stupid
I have read my manuals but don't understand how to use the GPS or to use maps. (FYI - I live in Australia).
-When I go to the menu, and click onto Maps, it loads up a picture of the world but nothing happens. There is a little wavey line thing in the top right corner that moves - does this mean it is searching for a position?
-Someone said everyone needs to make sure their GPS Receiver is turned on - what does this mean?
-Is there anything I need to download before I can use maps or GPS?
-Am I just supposed to go outside after clicking on maps, and wait for it to find a position?
-Do I need to download anything?
Thanks everyone. I am just so confused about how this actually works and can't seem to find any basic instructions or information.
    Thanks, Doc

    Hi doc18
Firstly if you are using v12.0.013 software on your N95 it is a lot quicker to obtain fix with A-GPS feature, although an active connection via WLAN or Network is needed. The symbol for this is a bit like two curtailed arrowheads at top right of screen.
There is an updated version of Nokia Maps 1.0 available:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291
Go outside away from buildings and tress with clear view of sky. Open slider and hold phone at 45degrees, don't cover "#" key as GPS antenna beneath it. Low cloud or rain will make satellite acquisition a lot longer.
If you go to Menu > Tools > GPS data > (searching for + calculating data) > Position > Options > Satellite status
This shows any number of satellites up to five - empty rectangle = not locked on - black filled rectangle = signal acquired; you need a minimum of 3 solid bars for lock-on and triangulation to work!
If you return to using Nokia Maps application the "red cross" disappears off satellite icon bottom right of screen when locked on.

  • N95 boots when I use GPS Recent feature

N95 boots always when I use GPS Maps (Kartat in Finnish) and select the from or to location using the Recent (Äskeinen in Finnish) feature. This happens also with the new 11.0.026 software. It lists the recent locations (I think so) and immediately the phone boots. Anyone else have this problem? Otherwise it works great.

There is no need to lose any data. Use Nokia PC suite to back up the contents of your phone you wish to keep. Then format everything. Once you have got the maps working again, just restore everything but the map data and you will be all set to go...
