How to use headphone jack as audio input

I just bought a 13" Macbook Air. I can not seem to find the setting to use my headphone jack as an audio input. How do I get audio in to record with Quick Time and Garage band?? I am using a sound board that works fine with my 13" Macbook Pro. I do sound for a christian band and they like to relisten to make changes to the songs and sermon.

the macbook Air uses a 4 contact headSET jack, .....instead of a speaker and mic jack (2 jacks).
headphone (typical) output (or Mic input) jack on LEFT...........headSET 4 position on right (for both output and input/Mic)

I have a macbook pro and wonder if I can change the headphone jack it an input jack so I can copy my record collection. Other sites said to look for a drop down under sound but these isn't that option on my computer

How do I use the built-in audio input with AU Lab?

I just tried AU Lab for the first time, and I can't select an audio input.
The "Create New Document" window lets me choose "Built-in Output", but the pulldown for Input Source is greyed out. The area under the "Input" button says, "Audio Input Not Supported". How can it not support the built-in audio input? I even tried using SoundFlower to route the signal from the Line In (a small app) to the Input of AU Lab. AU Lab's display then shows two channels from Soundflower, but they are still greyed out.
All I want to do is get a signal from the built-in audio input routed to AU Lab so I can use AU effects to process the audio signal in real time. How do I do this?

They comes configured with your software. If you want to use, for example, Skype, you need to run the configuration wizard section.

Using Headphone Jack with Multiple Displays with Mavericks

I recently installed Mavericks on a 2011 Mac Mini (previously was running 10.6.8); the Mac Mini is connected via HDMI to my HDTV in my living room and connected via mini display to HDMI to a second HDTV in my basement. I am running an extended USB cable to the basement to have a keyboard/mouse at each HDTV (living room is using a Bluetooth keyboard/trackpad).
After I installed Mavericks, I was immediatley having problems with my monitors. Each monitor showed up in my audio settings, but for some reason, I could not select the living room HDTV for sound, it just bounced off the HDTV name and went to another selection. After analyzing it for a while, I determined that when I had a line into my headphone jack, I could not select that living room monitor. As soon as I removed that line, I could select it (as an fyi, the other HDTV in the basement worked fine for sound with the headphone jack being used). I would prefer to be able to use the headphone jack as I have that plugged into my home theater system to play sound through my sound system.
Also, whenever I reboot my Mac Mini, my extended cable USB keyboard/mouse becomes unusuable and I have to unplug the keyboard & mouse and plug them back in for them to work and recognize the keyboard/mouse. The USB maintains power as I plugged my iPhone into it and got a charge after a reboot of my Mac Mini, it just doesn't automatically pickup the keyboard/mouse. Everything worked perfectly in 10.6.8, so any solution(s) would be welcomed so I don't have to go back to that OS.

If you read one guy's experience, he says:
"I can even use it to connect to the auxiliary jack of my car stereo so the call goes through the car speakers and I use the adapter's microphone to speak. "
So this ought to do ya. (And, of course, the iPhone music will indeed pause when the call comes in -- this happens even if you are using "normal" headphones).

Using garageband as an audio input

I am trying to figure out a way to funnel the output audio as an input on a webcam. So, lets say we are using skype. I want skpe to recognize the video from my webcam for the video input and only the audio that is coming out of garageband (the audio that would be coming through the speakers) as the audio input. I also want to be able to use headphones to hear what is coming out from the other side.
Does anyone know if this is possible? It is almost what audiobus is trying to do on iOS

How to use PAL-N for Video Input

Is not a problem with the conection or the cables the problem is that source is PAL-N and I see the image in black and white.
Thre isn't a problem with the input of the card because with the same cables and the same connector but with a source in NTSC (a playstation) worked great
My question is if the problem with the sources in PAL-N is a limitation of the hardware or with with software and if it is workaround

yes men. there are 3 choices .a s-video,a composite and the another one i can't remeber the clear.
And excuse me. did you play "playstaion" on your pc? how can you do that. i have been try for this. but you know ps have 3 line for conect with TV. one for video, one for audio and another one i don't know how to use.
my problem is when i put my ps on my pc. there are only one socket on video card(MX460-VT) for conect video line. no socket for audio in. some body told me it's on the sounds card. but i did. there are only 3 hell. one for speaker, one for microphone the last one is "line-in" so i put the audio line(from ps) in to he line-in . but i got nothing. how can you do this? tell me please!

No sound from internal speakers anymore, only can use headphone jack

My Macbook just stopped working with the internal speakers - now no sound... but if I plug in headphones I can hear audio. Also, when I look at the headphone jack, it is lit up red inside! very weird. Anyone know what's going on? It really stinks to have no audio.
I know the speakers still work because when I restart the computer I hear the start up chime.

hey. it's not a HUGE problem, although it's cool that you got it fixed. i currently (like, as i speak) have the same problem, but after reading a little bit, it seems that there's a little switch in there that's stuck. it determines whether ther's a headphone jack plugged in or not, and the red light just signals that it's not, but that switch says it is. so will apple really fix it? how long did it take?

How much for headphone jack to get fixed/replaced?

There is something stuck in my macbook air headphone jack.. I believe it is a silicon ball from packaging. I am wondering how much it would be to get fixed/replaced? What is the best thing to do about this problem?

Is it possible to charge HP Veer 4G using headphone jack?

The new HP Veer has a single, interchangeable interface for both charging (via magnetic USB cable) and plugging in headphones. I've had a couple of MP3 players (iPod shuffle and mobiBLU Cube) that use the headphone jack both for headphones and for charging.
Is it possible to attach the headphone jack to the Veer and use one of the headphone-to-USB charging cables I already have instead of spending $18 on a magnetic USB charging cable? Will it damage my phone at all or charge insufficiently via the headphone jack?

My confusion was that I could not hear any tones being generated with the dialer option and being presented with a green button I originally assumed that you needed to press this to send!

No sound fromMacBook built in speakers. can only use headphone jack.

The speakers of my macbook have suddenly become mute.
When I press the volume buttons, the volume icon appears, but has a circle with a diagonal line showing.
The hole for the headphone jack is constantly shining a red light from it.
I can use headphone from it, and all volume controls return to normal.
I've rebooted a number of times to no avail.
Any suggestions?

you've managed to activate your digital out, if you cant get it to go off by sticking in the headphones, use the end of a match gently and see if you can get the red light to go off, if not then you will unfortunately have to take it to an apple store

Everything is possible. I am providing the logic here which will help you a lot.
For insert, Change, Delete:
   Just get the all the elements into temp internal table and get the lead slected index. Now instrt one row in the lead selected index position. then again bind the temporary internal table to your table node. Thats all it works like inserting the row.
In the same way you can do the change and delete rows also.
For Dropdown:
Here i am providing the code for Dropdown. It will help you out.
Just create the Dropdown view for the columns for which you want dropdown. And do the coding for that.
Here in my scenario IT is the Table node which holds the information. And i am providing the dorpdown key for the column "BSCHL".

Anyone got an idea how much replacing headphone jack costs at Apple Store

My 1st Gen - (actually a replacement for a dodgy one) is out of warranty and the headphone jack is playing up. Anyone got a guide price for what they would charge me at Apple Store - Im not happy this had happened, but I know the realities of warranties. I own a Dyson!

Luvlabs is correct; Apple charges a flat price for out-of-warranty repair (actually it will be a replacement, probably with a refurbished unit) regardless of the problem with the iPod. Apple's repair pricing can be found here:

There are independent service providers that may be able to offer a lower price for the repair. I can't make any recommendations, but if you search the web for "ipod repair" you should find a number of options, and someone else here may be able to recommend a service provider.
