How to use ICC profiles and soft proofing profiles?

Hi,
I got an Epson Stylus Pro 3880 and Epson Hot Press paper which, upon investigation, received great profeesional reviews and, having never printed digitally before, I don't know how to use profiles for soft proofing or printing.
I don't know where to go in Aperture or what to do. My driver is up to date and I downloaded the paper profile - not sure where it ended up. What's next?
So far as I know, soft proofing is about calibrating the monitor to the paper - am I correct?

Fwiw, I print to Epson Hot Press using a 3880. Imho, it's a _great_ printer, and that combination of printer and paper produced state-of-the-art results. (Not suitable in all cases, but if that is a look you like, the only thing that I've seen that surpasses it is the Epson 9900, and without looking at prints side by side you can not tell them apart.)
Your profile ended up wherever you have told your browser to save downloaded files. The Epson site should provide instructions on where to move the file. Once it is in the right Finder folder, when you next Aperture it should show in your list of profiles.
Keep in mind, though, that soft-proofing is useless without a well (read: hardware-calibrated) calibrated display.

LR 4.2 - how to compare master and soft proof copy?

Hello Everyone,
I'd like to use the soft proofing function in LR 4.2 to preview the print output and I'd like to use it to apply some corrections to the pictures before printing them, in order they look like I originally meant them to look like, but I'm experiencing some troubles, possibly caused by the used workflow (I'm not a pro, but my environment is calibrated properly).
My workflow is:
1. I import all fotos and apply some changes so that the fotos look like I want them to be (this is the master)
2. As I want to print them I use the soft proofing function and load the target icc profile with which I create a soft proof copy. Sometimes I notice that the differences between master and soft proof copy are quite drammatic, especially with regards to contrast, vibrance of colors and sometimes also regarding the brightness.
3. My target is now to adapt the soft proof copy so that it looks like the master (as I wanted the foto to look like), but I can't find any proper way to do so, because:
- I can't find a (semi-)automated way to adapt the soft proof copy so that it "looks" like the master copy
- in the Develop module I can't find a way to display both the master foto and the soft proof copy besides each other to compare them, in order to apply changes to the soft proof copy only so that it "looks" like the master.
The only way I found so far is to switch back and forth bewteen master and soft proof copy to compare them (to be able to apply the needed changes to the soft proof copy), but this is pretty painful, as the fotos don't load immediately, but it always takes some seconds and I have to 'remember' how the master looks like.
I'm not sure whether I'm doing something terribly wrong, but unfotunately I didn't find any answers to this specific issue so far, that's why I'm writing here.

Activate softproofing with your choice of output profile (this can include proofing a web output colourspace such as sRGB).
Press Y to show a split before/after view (if your Toolbar is not open, press T to open that - this gives different kinds of split view options).
You will now see a comparison of the un-proofed and proofed appearances of this current image.
If you then make any develop adjustment from this mode, e.g. to make these two appearances more similar, you are then prompted to create a new proofing (virtual) copy as necessary - which can store these corrective adjustments independently of the main adjustments.
The before/after view then switches to show a comparison between your starting image (shown without softproofing) against your print-adjusted proof version (shown with softproofing).

Also, If i chose a file that was already in light room to print, even though I have the chosen file up in the developing mode, it will instead print the most recent file that I added to lightroom. If found a way to work around these problems, (check make this the copy in the soft proofing, and copy my settings and delete and reload the old files) but it's a slight hassle and it didn't use to do this. Not sure why it changed. Could I have accidentally changed a setting?

How to install ICC profiles in Lightroom

This is probably an easy question, but I didn't see an obvious reply in Google. I use ICC profiles when I print from Photoshop, but they don't appear in Lightroom. Is there an easy way to install all my profiles into lightroom?

Thanks! I was scratching my head there for a moment, because that's how I install profiles in Photoshop. I couldn't figure out why they weren't showing up in Lightroom. It finally dawned on me that I had had to nuke and re-install Lightroom due to a persistent corrupt file. Apparently the profiles went away with the previous installation. Thanks for your help!

How to use ICC based colorspace

The question is how to define a color in ICC based colorspace ?
I tried with gState.strokeColorSpec.value.color array and it work fine when my CIE based colorspace is CMYK but how to do it when colorspace can be CMYKOG or RGB ... ?

You can certainly use Cos to create the ICC colorspace (or the alternate) just as you did for the DeviceN.
Cos is just a wrapper over direct PDF objects – so read the PDF standard for what the objects you need are, then make the relevant calls.

it's kind of work since I have the icc profile inside my pdf file (I can see it with vim)
but I'm having issue when trying to open it with Photoshop ... Photoshop don't see the embeded profile.

An OutputIntent Profile (which is what you are creating with the PDDoc call at the end) is NEVER used by PDF UNLESS the PDF is also compliant with one of the subset standards (eg. PDF/A, PDF/E, PDF/X) - see ISO 32000-1:2008, 14.11.5.
Why are you setting this profile? Is the PDF a single page with a single raster image?

First check the numerator whether it was giving correct results or not then go with denominator
compare the results with sql that u have

Gantt chart: Don't know how to use the tooltipkeys and toolkeylabel

I have a problem. Don't know how to use the tooltipkeys and toolkeylabel. I used jquery to select the gantt bars and on mouse over i was getting the task id "tid" then passing it to adf bean with serverlistener and showing a popup that is adf component with javascript. For positioning of the popup I used a button that has width and height 0 and has position absolute and gets the coordinates of the mouse.
"div[et]" is a jquery selector that selects all the elements that have attribute et. I noticed that all the bars have that attribute as a few other attributes as well "part"...

To use tooltipkeys and tooltiplabel in gantt, you can add following code in managed bean

where , the string array in the ToolTipKeys represents the columns, of the table you have in the gantt component , and the string array in TooltipLabels displays the label you want to display for the table columns.
In the jsff, you could call the bean methods as follows:
tooltipKeys="#{GanttBean.tooltipKeys}"
tooltipKeyLabels="#{GanttBean.tooltipLabels}"

For example you can create a simple BPEL Process and you can throw an error during running process. If input data is not valid and format is not correct you can throw error using throw activity and using catch activity you can catch particular error. The catch-all will handle all the error occurred with the scope.

If you are not using JAZN you can still register created by and modified by user and date info in a "backdoor-wise" way:
1. Get the user login string by using System.getProperty("user.name")
2. Get the current datetime using java.util.Date
3. In the backing bean for the page and the action method for your submit button, set the values for the components containing the created by or updated by values to the values obtained in points 1 and 2.

I am traying to get value from SAP into Flex component, i am trying to find out where exactly its filling up the array in Flex component and i am unable to figure it out. i am getting values into flex component i can see them but when i am debugging the same i am not able to find where its putting values into array in flex builder debuggin mode.
if anybody can explain me how to use FlashIsland.EVENT_BEGIN_UPDATE and FlashIsland.EVENT_END_UPDATE . i dont know if there is any documentation on the event available for FlashIsland class.

I have seen that there is some bug in the early versions of the FlashIsland library where the EVENT_*_UPDATE events don't work. I saw an internal note the other day that this was fixed in newer (and shipping) versions of the library.
The code for the registration of the event should be:
FlashIsland.addEventListener(FlashIsland.EVENT_END_UPDATE, handleEndUpdate);
However I find that the better approach is to use public GET/SET functions as the bindings to the Web Dynpro Context. This way you get Flex code that fires automatically whenever the Web Dynpro Context data changes. This would be the prefered way of passing "events" from WD to the Flex code.

Process chain is nothing but executing a process ..(or) loading the data any process we can do in background.. that means.. automatically we can execute our process based on Time or any event..
Creating Process Chains
Prerequisites
If you want to include a load process in the process chain, you need to have already created an InfoPackage.
You cannot load flat file data from a client workstation in the background. For this reason, you have stored your data on an application server.
Creating Process Chains
You have the option of creating a process chain in the process chain maintenance screen directly or by using a maintenance dialog for a process:
Creating a Process Chain Directly in the Process Chain Maintenance Screen
You are in the BW Administrator Workbench.
1. Click on the Process Chain Maintenance icon in the AWB toolbar.
The Process Chain Selection dialog window appears.
2. Choose Create.
3. Enter the technical name and a description of the chain, and confirm your entry.
The Add Start Process dialog window appears.
4. Create a variant for a start process.
1. a. On the Maintain Start Process screen, choose whether you want to schedule the chain directly or whether you want to start it using a metachain.
2. b. If you choose to schedule the chain directly, enter the start date value for the chain under Change Selections and save your entries.
The Maintain Start Process screen appears again.
3. c. Save your entries, return to the previous screen and confirm your entries in the Add Start Process dialog window.
You are taken to the Plan View of the process chain maintenance screen.
In the left-hand area of the screen, a navigation area is displayed. In the right-hand area of the screen, the process chain is displayed.
5. Use the drag-and-drop function to add the relevant processes into your process chain.
You use the Process Types function to select the processes. This sorts the process types according to different categories. You can also call up InfoPackages and processes for the data target from the separate InfoSources and Data Targets navigation trees.
