How to use illustrator to design a magazine page?

Hey Guys, I want to design a magazine page with pics, text etc. how can I do this? (I don't know much about ILLUSTRATOR). But willing to learn!

In that case you will have to deal with it. I wouldn't actually consider it fun, because Illustrator's capabilities of dealing with text and formatting are limited.
In any case you'll have to learn the basics of working with Illustrator and then concentrate on how to format text, place images, flow text around images and the like.

How to use a back button in action pages?

Hi all,
I have created a user login page,home page and user profile page.
If the user provide correct username and password in the login page he will be taken to home page.
In the home page he will be having his username and a link to view his profile.
When the user click on the link "My Profile(user profile)" he wil be taken to that page.
In my profile page the user can edit only his firstname,lastname and password .
On the user profile page i have placed a Back Button(using javascript: on onclick event i have used history.back()) to go back to home page after editing his profile.
If the user edit his profile for n-number of times then atlast if he wants to go back to home page-then he wil cilck the back button.
Now the problem occurs like the back button not going to home page and it simply going back with the edited history.
How to use a back button in action pages; without repeating the actions done on the page; how to redirect to the users home page?
I simply used the hyperlink in userprofile page to go to home page but when i click onit it is displaying blank home page.
I'm using hibernate orm mapping; cflogin and cflogout tags.

I can see your problem. You may use javascript:history.go(-1), javascript:history.go(-2), ..., to go back one page, two pages, and so on. But how does one go back an arbitrary n pages? I have tried to access both the help topics and the video tutorials for Illustrator CS6. Help topics always have no listing for learning how to use the program. And the video tutorials will not run.

What does that mean "will not run?" Any error? Doesn't show? No sound?

How to use the embeddable designer in VB6

I realize that I'm late to the party, but ......
I use Visual Basic 6 and CR XI. I do NOT design my reports with the embedded designer in the VB6 UI but rather build them in CR XI as rpt files and then have a viewer app in my VB6 code that displays the report(s) to the CR XI Viewer control.
I have looked at the sample that uses the embeddable designer in the VB6 UI and am intrigued. It looks to me like there would be a designer object for each report. In an app with multiple report capability, would I have a separate designer object for each report? The default viewer code that launches when a designer is added to the VB project seems very tied to the designer. I'd like to have one viewer form and multiple designers. Does anyone have sample code that would demonstrate this?

To answer this question : Yes it is possible to create MDI application with multiple viewer and embedded designer. Each viewer can have its own designer, no problem.
I would not have code for VB as lots of programmers prefers C++ for those tasks.
If needed I can send you C++ sample for CR XI R2 for the RDC.
In addition, it is even easier to use the new .NET platform to create projects like this.

i am using Indesign for the past 2 1/2 years. Now i have to use indesign for developing a magazine. But i come across few problems. Pls help me to solve.
1. the page dimension is 210 x 297 mm. i want a bleed area of 5 mm on each side. Then should i have the document size as 215 x 307 mm (for one side). Or is there any way to mark bleed.
2. Is there any scripts, especially to be used in pagination of the magazine.
3. I have placed Auto page number in the master page, but when im placing picture in a page for the full extent, the page number is not visible (as it is in the mater page). Should i manually type the page number there or any other way to do it.
4. Is there any exclusive tutorial to learn to the core about developing a magazine in indesign.
Should i furnish any more details?

No you should make your indesign page size the size you want the magazine to be when trimmed. If it's 210 x 297 mm then make the size of your document that size.
When you make a new document you can click the More Options to reveal the bleed setting. Use 5mm for all sides.
Make your document using facing pages, you don't need bleed for the inside edges, as this for the spine. Make sure that all your images, backgrounds etc. go out as far (or beyond) the red line. You don't need to this for things that will not be near the edge of the page.
Set up a "Safe Area" for your images, that will be an area roughly 5 mm from each side where no text or anything will go near the edge of the page. If it goes beyond this area you should consider extending it into the bleed area.
DO NOT PUT TYPE near the edge of the page. Keep it well away, possibly 10 - 15mm.
2. Is there any scripts, especially to be used in pagination of the magazine.
Pagination is usually done by prepress when you send the final pdf. Setup your magazine with the pages flowing in sequential order, e.g., 1 - 100.
Make sure the amount of pages in the magazine is divisible by 4. That is, a 94 page magazine would not do, as that's 23.5. But a 92 page or 96 page would be better because it's dvisible exactly by 4, ideal for printing.

If you want page numbers on pages like this, you should think about putting master items on a new layer and sit that layer on top of all the other layers. You should also consider making different pages, based on the current Master Page (making child and parent masters

But the idea is to make master pages with different coloured folios, like white folios for pages with dark images, as black folios would not show up. But it's up to you. It's best not to manually inser the page numbers.

Three are no hard and fast rules about developing a magazine in InDesign. Follow a logical procession of thought. Start with thumbnails, develop sketches for each content, create content in InDesign, proof it, etc.

How to use ShowValue within a UIX/JSP page to display an active link?

I am storing URL's in the DB and want to display them as active links on a UIX/JSP page. I thought that I had this working some time ago, but now it no longer works.
Using <bc4juix:RenderValue datasource="ds1" dataitem="myTextField" /> will display "http://www.otn.oracle.com" as an inactive link using UIX/XML which is expected.
Using <jbo:ShowValue datasource="ds1" dataitem="myTextField" /> will display an active link using if using BC4J/JSP, which is expected.
However, I have not been able to do this using a UIX/JSP page.
Is it possible to use ShowValue within a UIX/JSP page to display an active link?

How to use illustrator dvd menu template???

If you create a menu using one of illustrator cs3 templates how do I get it into dvd studio pro as a menu??

I was hoping there would be a more integrated meathod... but then again.. so here's the process..
1) Resize the image in Illustrator.... make sure ALL your layers are visable.(hidden layers will not be selected via a 'select ALL'(huh?) and thus not scaled).. Select All.. Change image size in Illustrator control panel to 1280x720 (for 720p HD.. use your size depending on your format)
2) change the cropping area to 1280x720, you may also want to change the pixel aspect ratio of the cropping area ruler to 1 since it's incorrectly set at 1.333.. HD uses square pixels...
3) Export as photoshop (export layers but disable both editability
boxes... with my final image, leaving this checked resulted in a flattened image with no layers!?!? anyhow) use 72dpi, as this appears to export a file the size of the actual resolution specified..
4) open in photoshop and crop the image (set canvas size) to the propper size. for whatever reason I could not get illustrator to output a 1280x720 image.. it was 1281x721.. If I reduced the crop area to 1279x719 then I got a 1279x719 image..
5) import into Dvd Studio.. Then create a layered menu.. set it as the background, and then setup your button using the layers for highlight etc...

How to use PSD files as a flash page

I have read that I can use a psd file in Flash as a "page".
At what version does this become possible. Can I take a multi-layer
PSD file that was exported from a Flash program and make changes to
it in Illustrator and then import it back in as a page? Where can I
find information on what product versions I need for both me
(developer) and my designer to use to facilitate this and how to do
it, any limitations, etc.

How to use Different Main Windows in Multiple pages to print internal table

Hi experts,
I have a problem regarding how to have multiple different main windows in smartforms..the problem is that i want to print an internal table in the third page of the smartform and that table can have dynamic values ..sometime it may have more than 400 values also which can not be printed in one or two pages ...
so to accomplish the same what i did was..
i tried creating a new main window in the third page but it is throwing an error saying two main windows not allowed and i also tried by copying the first page's main window but it is just repeating the same content what was there in second page..
i also tried by creating a secondary window in the third page and in that window i tried giving my internal table and tried by giving the next page to itself but that also is not allowed and it throws an error saying a page without a main window cannot point to itself as a next page....
i also tried using a secondary window and in that window i was trying to display the internal table but it is only showing third page content and fourth page itself was not created....although in my next page field value of the third page , i have given the third page itself as a next page ....but this also is not working ,.....
please suggest how to have different main windows(not copy of first main window) in smartforms in order to display the dynamic contents of an internal table

Just check with your smart styles with assigned paragraph allignment .
Try to create character style with your required font ,size and Allignment .

can somebody tell me how to make beans availabe to more than one page ,i used scope variable as "application"
in which i set the value of java bean and in that page it show all values of that bean even it modified
but when redirect to another jsp page it does not show modifided value,it shows its default value
what shld i use tell me
following thing that i use in forwarded jsp page

and then i am using boolean variable which set false default ,but i set it manually though
setfuction (assume) in original jsp page,but in redirected page it showing it value fasle

My dear friend,
your scope is wrong. Since you run a JSP page and you want it available everywhere, the only thing that all pages have common is session. So changing your bean scope to session will keep the bean variables and the rest you have on it.
Try it and let me know.

How to use 1 edge animation in multiple pages without duplicate files?

I want to display an animation on multiple pages that are all located in there own respective folders. I want to be able to move then animation files into it's own dedicated folder e.g. /includes/edge folder where I can still use this animation in other pages not locate in this folder.
How can this be done?
