short Introduction...
I'm Ben from South-Germany ->Stuttgart (so please excuse my bad english) and two weeks ago, i bought my first Mac, an iBook G4. also i bought the complete Software of Logic Pro 7.
the time before i worked with Fruity Loops and Reason to create Black Music Beats, freaky, i guess.
i'm sittin here for two weeks and i'm tryin to figure out how it works.
first, i have to know how i create my own beats without usin Loops and Samples, means, i wanna know how to insert Instruments and create Notes + Beats.
can ya'll help me please?

i second that. having worked with logic for about a year before i bought the level 1 program, i figured out a pretty good amount, but the video helped fill in the gaps. since you are totally new to logic, i think you'll find it even more helpful. only complaint i have is martin sitter's voice! i know, i know, who cares, but really it's pretty intense. if nothing else, he's just got a funny accent. canadian i think.

Of course going to school would be a good option, but I want to know if one-to-one is also a good way to learn how to use logic pro. Has anyone been through the one-to-one program for logic pro and can say that they learned how to use logic pro well because of it?

For sure, one to one training, if given by a tutor who is capable, will hand you the means to build up self-confidence and will therefore let you operate the hard/software in an intelligent manner, instead of going for the trial and error method which has its pro's and con's too. Once you've passed this beginners phase you will make your own decisions intelligently and then you will also start to get experience and learn even from your mistakes. Something like that in theory and the rest is up to you!

How to use Logic Pro for Windows 7?

I'm autistic, and am interesting in the music keyboards Apple sells. I would like to get Garageband and/or Logic Pro, but I have Windows 7 so I'm not sure if those kinds of software would work on that kind of system. Would they work on Windows 7, or if there's anything else I have to do?

None of the software (Logic, Garageband) is compatible between Mac OSX and Windows 7.
Your best choice is to look for similar programs avaialble on Windows.
There are several.. "Cubase" by Steinberg, "Sonar" by 12-Tone, and "ProTools" by Digidesign.

I am using Logic Pro X. I do not know how to fade the volume at the end of a song or raise / lower the volume in an area of the track. I also have a loud instand volume blip in a portion of a track that I would like to lower or eliminate.

Completely inappropriate, and they all also not help with volume adjustments. Fades will only apply to Audio Regions in the Tracks area: they will not fade out the complete mix unless you first Bounce it, add that to the Tracks area, apply the Fades with the Fade tool, then Bounce in Place (Again).
Much much better to make use of Track automation to take care of Volume adjustments, and to Fade out the end of the song by applying Track Automation to the Output Channel

got your message about making sure to use the machine specific disk that came with my machine. Unfortunately, Apple no longer sells Tiger replacement disks. I've got a couple of bids out on ebay, and will update when I have news to add to this post.

To be clear you called the 800 number and explained what the situation was, old machine and lost the original DVD's?
Just checking because if you just called and tried to buy the DVD's they might tell you they no longer sell them but you aren't really trying to buy them your trying to replace the ones that are missing.
Ebay may work but there is a certain specificity to the DVD's required which, even if they seem right, might not work.
Good luck either way. If you get a chance when you get the DVD's I'd be interested in hearing how it all works out.

Hi, is the iMac also 10.6.8? I had an iMac die when 10.6.8 was installed, it worked at first but after some You Tube flash videos the screen just locked and no mouse clicking anywhere did anything. It turned out that most older iMacs [ mine was from august 2007] have a graghics chipset that can't handle Snow Leopard, there were [are?] 77 pages on this "locked screen"topic in the Snow Leopard forum. I checked out a web site that tells you how much your mac is worth by filling in the sereal number-mine was worth only $168, I may give it to a friend for his children to play with, although that seems unholy. I doubt anyone woud buy it,the problem is now so well known that even Apple certified resellars here in the Netherlands refuse to repair them,they claim Apple will revoke their certification if they replace the faulty Graphics unit,it is also VERY hard to get to that unit in an iMac, everything is so tightly packed inside.
If your iMac is running Mountain Lion[10.8.0] you may have to change the app store preference to accept apps from all sites,normally ML will only allow app store apps to be downloaded.

Using Logic Pro with Reason 3.0

I am trying to use logic Pro with reason 3.0. I want to be able to sync them together to use redrum within reason as my drum machine. I am using a MOTU 828 mk II audio interface with 8 in's and 8 out's.
When I start logic first and the reason I am not hearing any sound from reason. I can see the meters move in the mixer of reason but I hear nothing.
From the standard documentation that comes with Logic all I can figure out is that rewire is there to sync any other rewire program so that can run side by side of one sequences transport controls.
I want to be able to hear audio from both my arrangement in Logic and in Reason at the same time in the same song in sync.
Can someone please tell me firstly if this is possible and if so how can I implement this kind of setup.

Common problem. LP doesn't rewire 'out of the box'.
There are two ways to do this (well, more, but I'll tell you 2)
1 (Easy Way):
Restart Mac (Just to be sure things are sorted, not everytime)
Launch Logic
Launch Reason
Arrange Window
Choose a Channel> Pan Left
Go to the Middle section of the Parameters on the Left
With the Channel pop up menu, select Rewire> RWMix L
Repeat for the Right and away you go.
2 (More Advanced)
Environment Window
In the Middle section of the parameters on the Left select Create
Name it Rewire
Under that windows "New" pull down (Top Left), pull down to Audio Object
In the "Channel" pop up (Left, bottom section) select>Rewire (Left, right, 3,4... What ever you want.
Double Click the Audio Object to expand it
Pan Left or right, or whatever you need.
Rename if you wish
Do the same for the other stereo sideNow's the fun part. Assign these stereo pairs to a bus (above the fader, the default is "Out 1-2")
Go to the Mixer window
Double click the Bus you assigned, this puts it in the arrange window
Arrange window
Name the Bus "Rewire" or "ReDrum" or something great like that.
Now you can use it like a stereo pair (which I wish Logic had) for automation and effects and such.

If you bought the boxed set of Logic Studio 2.0 which includes LP9, then you cannot download it. You must use the disks that came as part of the boxed set... to install from.
If you bought the App Store version of Logic Pro 9 then go to the Mac App Store App, Sign into the Store using the same Apple ID you used to purchase LP originally, look under the Purchase Tab and you shouldl find LP9 ready and waiting for you to download and install.

How to update Logic Pro X to 10.1?

Recently been trying to figure out how to update logic pro x to 10.1.... not really sure how to go about it or where to begin. I purchased it in September of 2013 and not sure that its been updated ever since. When i go to about it says that im running 10.0.3. Also, not sure if this matters but when i go view it on the mac app store it gives me the option to purchase it for $199.99, which i already have. Please help! thanks in advance.

That only usually happens when the original copy of LPX on your system had been renamed or moved from it's original location (or was in a different User Account on your Mac....) which is why the Mac App Store app couldn't find it to update it....
Check your system (search the internal drive and any other drives attached, one at a time) for other copies of LPX...... using FindAnyFile....

Search for Logic or LPX or Logic Pro or any other possible name that could be Logic Pro X and see if it finds any other copies... or any duplicates in the Application folder...
If it does, delete those copies that are not in the Application folder in the root of your system drive... and/or are not named Logic Pro X, to be on the safe aside and to prevent such an issue occurring again.. in the future.
Don't forget to empty trash too... after doing all this.

Note: I assume it actually updated LPX to v10.1.1 which is the latest version.... and not v10.1

Go to the Apple Store or Mac App Store for your country(if any). If there's none or they doesn't sell those, you can't buy Logic Pro and need to find someone who sells the computer in your country.

Well... Of course that i've tryed that in a first place, but...
1. There is no iStore and App store in Serbia, so i've opened (like 200.000 thousend users from Serbia) account on our friendly country who used to bomb us in 1999. USA!!! Heheheh...
2. Of course, i've tried to connect my debit VISA card to my USA account but all the time i get the message that my VISA is invalid... Of course!!!

How to backup Logic Pro 9

I haven't used Logic Pro 9 for a long time. I notice it's been superseded and no longer on the app store.
I'm about to reformat my entire hard drive. How/where can I make sure I can re-install Logic once I've reformatted?

If you bought it via the app store then you can always download it again via the Purchase tab in the Mac App Store..... using the same Apple ID you used to buy iot in the first place.. You cannot buy it currently on the Mac App Store.. but if you previously bought it from there you can download and install it again...
if you bought it as part of Logic Studio.. (DVD version) then you will have to reinstall it via those DVDs)
I dont recommend trying to re-install it via TM backups... That always seems to cause issues...
Note: If you are planning on upgrading OS X to a laster version.. don't.... unless you absolutely have to as LP9.1.5 or at least 9.1.8 and SL 10.6.8 is still the most stable and best performing combination to date. LP9 and Yosemite is currently really a no go at this time.. due to many issues.

Using Logic Pro 9 with Mavericks

Hi all
I recently upgraded to Mavericks and when I came to using Logic Pro 8 I found a problem with the tape bar indicator on the arrange window adding black blocks as it moves across the screen. I understand that this is a well known issue. My question is: Will upgrading to Logic 9 solve this? I do not want to upgrade to Logic X so just need to be sure that Logic 9 will solve the problem. many thanks

While upgrading to Logic Pro 9.1.8 will work with Mavericks, how do you intend to purchase Logic Pro 9 as it is no longer sold by Apple.
