How to use multiple alpha channels

Hi there. I'm using Cinema4D for some 3D animation. I'm using an object buffer compositing tag to isolate certain elements in my scene. (C4D can create an alpha channel for each object). This is then rendered out as a multi-layered PSD sequence. However C4D puts the extra channel info (z-depth, object ID, etc) into alpha channels. But AFAIK, AE only reads the first alpha channel.
Is there a way to read extra alpha channels?

This topic came up about two years ago, you might try searching the forum.
IIRC, the conversation was enlightening for several of us old timers who had never even heard of multiple alphas.
Closest I've ever gotten was using the four separate color channels to hold unrelated grayscale movies. Each was used to drive a different 3d parameter of Card Dance.

I have a movie made with greenscreen and in my video editing software I have already seperated the person in front from the greenscreen. Now, how do I tell Quicktime, which parts should be transparent, so that Quicktime "knows" what information to write in the alpha channel?

I don't know about the software you used. If it made the "alpha" channel then you can enable it in QuickTime Pro by following these steps:
Open the file and then open the Movie Properties window.
Highlight the "Video" track and click the Visual Settings tab.
In the lower left corner is a pull down menu for "Transparency". Set it to Straight Alpha and use Save As to make a new file leaving your original untouched for further editing.

I'm trying to make a game and I want to have a background and on top of that sprites. But the sprites need to be transparant in some parts. I have tried with gif's and png's but nothing works. Can anybody help me?

Hm, seems like I found a partial solution myself using an AlphaComposite. Problem now is that it only works with gif's and not with a png.

How to create multiple physical channels using DAQmx?

Hi, I am new to Labview.
Can anyone please help me on how to create multiple physical channels? I am following the LabVIEW examples in the NI example finder but they are only for acquiring signals from one channel.
Actually, I am using the channels of an SCXI 1520 to measure voltage signals. And one more thing, in the NI Example Finder, they are sample codes there for setting the filter in SCXI 114x.
Will this example work with an SCXI 1520, too?

There are many ways to read multiple channels in LabVIEW. First, if you look at that example that lets you set the filter setting on the 114x and you click on the 'Physical Channel Listbox' then click 'Browse' you can see that you can select multiple channels. After you select the channels and hit 'Ok' it will build a multiple channel string. This is one way to read multiple channels.
Next, you can create a 'Task' in Measurement and Automation Explorer(MAX). When you create this task select all the channels that you need to read then back in LabVIEW simply select a 'DAQmx Task Name Constant' Select the task you just created and wire that to an Input of your first DAQ VI. If you do this you do not need to have a 'DAQmx Create Physical Channel' VI or create
Task because it is already created in MAX.
When looking at example VIs you can tell if a multi-channel read is acceptable by looking at the 'DAQmx Read' and if it says NChan that means it will do a multichannel read. There are tons of example programs that will display the multichannel read capabilities.
This example may not work for the 1520 because the properties that are set could possibly be specific to the 142x. When using the 1520 though it is very likely that the properties will be very similar if not exact. You will simply put a DAQmx Channel property node on your block diagram and then look for the Lowpass filter settings properties that will most likely be in the same location. Now another way todo this without using a property node would be in MAX when you create a task set the filter settings from the Device tab in the task configure window.

How to use multiple JREs (1.5.0_20 and 1.6.0_07) with Internet Explorer 8?

Question about the problem mentioned in subject.
I have configured that JNLP opens with 1.5 version, both versions are enabled in Java Control Panel Runtime Settings but when I try to start a desktop java console says:
Java Web Start 1.5.0_22
Using JRE version 1.6.0_07 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
And the opening of the desktop creates an exception:
Java Web Start - Invalid Argument Error
TooManyArgumentsException[ Too many arguments supplied: {C:\WINDOWS\Temporary, Internet, Files\Content.IE5\....
I'm trying to open my desktop with 1.5 version and other programs with 1.6 version. What is it that I still need to do? I'm kind of confused with this. Some of my collagues have succeeded with this and some doesn't, with the same configuration.
So the question is, how to use multiple JREs with IE8 so that one application uses 1.5 version and others 1.6 version?

To add to Scott's post. Option 60 would be useful if you needed to put certain types of AP on specific controllers. Otherwise, no real need to use it for the most part.
Though, I do recall an issue a few years ago that some windows machines had issues getting DHCP if option 43 is being returned.
Now, on an IOS switch, you can only configure one option 60 per DHCP scope

How to use multiple selection parameters in the data model

Hi, after have looked all the previous threads about how to use multiple selection parameters , I still have a problem;
I'm using Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.3.2 and I'm tried to define more than one multiple selection parameters inside the data template;
Inside a simple SQL queries they work perfectly....but inside the data template I have errors.
My data template is the following (it's very simple...I am just testing how the parameters work):

As you see, I tried to have only one p_where_clause (with more than one parameter inside)....but it doesn't work...
Using only the first parameter (based on deptno (which is number), the p_where_clause is: p_where_clause := 'where (deptno in (' || replace (p_dep_2_param, '''') || '))';
it works perfectly....
Now I don't know if the problem is the datatype, but I noticed that with a single parameter (deptno is number), the lexical refence (inside the data template) works.....with a varchar parameter it doesn't work....
So my questions are these:
1) how can I define the p_where_clause (inside the package) with a single varchar parameter (for example, the department location name)
2) how can I define the p_where_clause using more than one parameter (for example, the department location name and the department name) not number.

the missing thing in your example is the fact, that if only one value is selected, the parameter has exact this value like BOSTON. If you choose more than one value, the parameter includes the *'*, so that it looks like *'BOSTON','NEW YORK'*. So you need to check in the package, if there's a *,* in the parameter or not. If yes there's more than one value, if not it's only one value or it's null.
So change your package to (you need to expand your variables)

I have created two forms using screen painter and now i want to use different classes for these two forms .
I have declared the Sbo Connection in main class i.e. Set Application ,Connection Context() but while connecting to other classes
for executing the code for that form SAP is not connected to that class.How to use multiple classes functionality i don't able to
do that.Please provide some sample codes for that as it will be more helpful for me to understand.

Hi Amit,
In fact, its more advisable to use separate classes for every form that you use. Have one common class, say, for eg., clsMain.cs which has all the connection and connectivity to other classes, wherein, the menu event and item event of this main class, will just be calling the menu / item event of other classes.
The individual functionality of the child classes will be called from the item / menu event of the respective classes.
Item event in clsMain.cs will be as below.

I want to backup single filesystem with multiple tape drive.
Incase of Symantec veritas netbackup "NEW_STREAM" for multi-stream backup.
Backup client has a single backup filesystem like /data1 directory with 4 LTO6 drives.
/data1 directory doesn't have a sub-direcotry, just present a files.
If /data1 directory has a sub-directory like /data1/aaa, /data1/bbb, /data1/ccc , Is it possible to use multiple drives?

How to send multiple midi channels to a single Kontakt Player?

I can send any channel to a Kontakt Player. But only 1 channel at a time. When I have 2 tracks dedicated a single Kontakt Player how do I assign them to different channels so that the Kontakt player responds multi-timbrally?
I can't believe that I cannot figure this out. It's a little embarrasing.

create multiple tracks that use same instrument. After you create your 1st software instrument track you can create more tracks that use that same instrument, from the track menu. Select, "New with same channel strip/instrument. you can create as many as you like.
But since they are using the same channel strip, you will have to mute and un-mute differently because muting one mutes all, so instead of muting the track itself, mute the region on a track using the mute tool.
