How to use music as ringtones?

I just bought an IPhone 3Gs and is wondering if it is possible to use music / mp3s as ringtones?

You can use iTunes to manually create a ringtone with a music or sound file that does not include DRM protection.

You can take any MP3 file that it 40 seconds or less and change the file extension to M4R. Then drag it into iTunes. It will appear under Ringtones and transfer over next time you sync,

  • Does anyone know how to use music transfered from another phone to the iphone as ringtones?

Does anyone know how to use ringtones that I put on my iphone from my previous phone? It went in as music and now I cant use as ringtones and figure out how to put it as ringtones.

    Two ways to do this:
Download an app, such as RMakerPro, which uses music on your phone to create ringtones.
Plug in to iTunes and find where your ringtones are listed. Drag them to your desktop, and then you will need to change the file type to .m4r, which can be done at www.freefileconvert.com.

How can I put music as ringtone?
    Help me

You have to trim a song to 40 sec or less. (Right click on a song>get info>options>set start and stop time).
Then right click again and click on Creata AAC version.
Find the new file (right click>show in finder/explorer) and rename the extension to m4r.
Drug the new file to iTunes Tones section (left pane of iTunes)
    Sync your iPhone.
    Try google for detail directions

  • Using music for ringtones

I have the 6680, and want to use some of the music that I've put on my phone as ringtones. I can view some of the songs in the profile that I chose, but not all of them. What should I do, do I need to delete some of the other songs first.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Maybe the files you cannot see you unit will not play due to their format.

  • How to use music e-mail attachment coming in w QuickTime Player

    I have QuickTime Player 7.1.5
When I download a music attachment from an e-mail, it comes in as Quicktime. Problem is: how do I download it to use it?
Tried to get it into iTunes, but didn't work. Went to QuickTime Player Help, which was of no help.
    1) Why does a music attachment (meaning a song, or tune) come in as an e-mail QuickTime file?
    2) What can I do with it?

    Open iTunes>Music>File>New Playlist
Drag the QT file onto the blank New Playlist window.
For burning, first you need to determine if your iMac is capable of burning (If you are not using external burning hardware.). If so, then w/iTunes still open click the burn disc symbol at the bottom of the iTunes window. iTunes will guide you from there.
For further burning instructions, read iTunes Help Menu, your OS Help Menu & check out the iTunes Forum.

  • How to use my own ringtones

How to move my ringtones from pc to iphone?
I have several my own created stuff that I want use in my iphone. Those are in mp3, wav, mp4 and other formats.

Ringtones for the iPhone have to be in m4r format. If you have created ringtone parts that are <30 seconds in length, they can be converted and put on the iPhone. Try Google, you will find a great deal of information on how to accomplish this, as it requires converting the file to a m4a and then renaming the file. mp3 and wav files will have to be converted to AAC format.

  • How to use songs for ringtones like prior to ios7?

Prior to the iOS7 upgrade, I had 'custom' ringtones assigned to my contacts.  The custom tones were ringtones that I created.  When I upgraded, those were all removed from my contacts.  I can't figure out how to get them back.  I have verified that my ringtone files are still on my iphone..but I just can't figure out how to access them.  The only option is to use the apple provided ringtones or buy them via the store.
    Any ideas?

    Hello gawoodruffs
I would recommend re-syncing your iPhone with iTunes. Ensure that they are on there. Then they should all be grouped towards the top by the Buy Ringtones and Default ringtone area.

  • How to set music as ringtone that has been downloaded to my iphone

How can I set music that has already been downloaded to my iphone as a ringtone?
And how can a sync a game that I purshased on my iphone to my ipod?

"How can I set music that has already been downloaded to my iphone as a ringtone?"
You don't.  You have to create the ringtones, then sync them to your iphone, then assign them.  Google will find several free ways to create ringtones.
"And how can a sync a game that I purshased on my iphone to my ipod?"
You transfer the app to your computer:  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You then sync it to your other devices if you like.
Or you can redownload on the device:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How do I use my music for ringtones?

I got an I phone 4s and I was wondering how to use my music from my I tunes account for ringtones.

You can use computer iTunes to do that.
    Here the DIY way:
    1. Select a title (.mp3 or .m4a) in your iTunes Library
    2. Do File > Get Info on selected title (Windows do Edit > Get Info)
    3. In the dialog choose Options tab
    4. Set Start Time and End Time (no more than 35 secs otherwise won't work)
    5. Close dialog.
    6. Now control click the title (right click) and choose Create AAC Version
Note: If you don't have Create AAC version, switch in menu File > Preferences...(Windows do Edit > Preferences...) > General > Import Settings... > Import Using: AAC Encoder.
    7. When it is done, drag the newly create title to the desktop.
    8. Delete the newly create title in iTunes. <-- This step is important
    9. Rename the title on your desktop from ringtone.m4a to ringtone.m4r
    10. Drag and drop it into iTunes
    Now you have a ringtone.
Make sure it is selected in iTunes for syncing with your new iPhone.

  • How to use purchased music from itunes as ringtone

Trying to use music from my songs as ringtones, could do it on 4 don't know how to do it on 5s.  Does anyone know?  Please help..

If you are using the latest version of iTunes (4.6), then you need to make sure your ipod software is up to date also.
When you have done this, authorize your music in iTunes by playing a few seconds of it, and it should transfer by whatever synching method you choose.
    Get the latest updates here.
If you have done all this and still can't transfer it, post back with more info about what is happening.
    EDIT.
    Grrrr......must learn to type faster!

How do I use music on my iphone5 as ringtones/ text alerts

You have shorten the music and then convert/rename to m4r form, import into iTunes. iTunes will create a Tones library if it does not already exist, sync to your iPhone and set it as your ringtone/alert.
