How to use music e-mail attachment coming in w QuickTime Player

I have QuickTime Player 7.1.5
When I download a music attachment from an e-mail, it comes in as Quicktime. Problem is: how do I download it to use it?
Tried to get it into iTunes, but didn't work. Went to QuickTime Player Help, which was of no help.
1) Why does a music attachment (meaning a song, or tune) come in as an e-mail QuickTime file?
2) What can I do with it?

Open iTunes>Music>File>New Playlist
Drag the QT file onto the blank New Playlist window.
For burning, first you need to determine if your iMac is capable of burning (If you are not using external burning hardware.). If so, then w/iTunes still open click the burn disc symbol at the bottom of the iTunes window. iTunes will guide you from there.
For further burning instructions, read iTunes Help Menu, your OS Help Menu & check out the iTunes Forum.
I do not own an iPod, so I can't help you there. Until the iPod knowledgeable users come in here, suggest that you cross-post in one of the iPod Forums for whichever iPod model you have where the iPod users hang out.

I would like to ask the following question. I am using mac os x 10.9 maverics me quicktime player version 10.3. Can I trim a video recording without having to press the pause or save it as a file? Or can I add a new recording to a video file? Thanks in advance

    Well,
I tried the "Internet Recovery" option and finally saw Mac OS X Mountain Lion's install page but after waiting 7 hours when I just thought its going to start installing, I got another progress bar with 36 hours remining time to download "Additional Components" then after progressing 2-3 hours, it shows "Unable to write installation something..., Contact Apple Care"
Then I accidently rebooted the machine and now it seems Internet Recovery don't work anymore, it shows "support.apple.com - 40 something!" error, and finally when I tried to reboot using Recovery HD, I found it's gone as-well!
To be honest, I don't know what to do now, I am and dissapointed... also I do not have any Apple Store nearby, there is an authorized country reseller almost 650/km far away from my residents and they even charges too high (like $250) for doing such repairs (as per phone conversation)
If anyone have any idea or anything to help me with, please do share- I'd be eternally grateful!

    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks a lot
    BR
    Ralf

    Hi Ralf,
    Ref: Receiver Mail Adapter
The attachements are given a .bin extension by default. To change this , the procedure is available in the Mail Adapter FAQ : 856599
Q: Can I choose the name of an attachment in the mail?
A: Yes. Most mail clients use some heuristics based on some MIME headers to derive the name of an attachment. The MIME headers involved in most heuristics are Content-Type, Content-Description, and Content-Disposition. When you create an XI message, the XI payload name is automatically set in the Content-Description. If you want to change or set all of these headers, you can use the MessageTransformBean module (Note 793922) in the adapter framework.
Related questions: How can I set the file name of a mail attachment?
Q: How can I set the file name of a mail attachment?
There are several MIME headers that play a role in how the client retrieves the file name of an attachment. Unfortunately, this behavior differs among various mail clients. The reason for this inconsistent behavior comes from the fact that this mechanism has been extended incrementally. The old way is to use the name parameter in the Content-Type header as specified in RFC1341. For example, you can set the content type of an XML attachment as:
    Content-Type: application/xml; name="abc.xml"
RFC1521 discourages the use of this name parameter in anticipation of the new header Content-Disposition, which is defined in RFC1806.
With this Content-Disposition header, you can set the file name as:
    Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="abc.xml"
Some clients may show the Content-Description value as the file name. The Content-Description header is typically used to associate some descriptive information to an attachment (RFC1341) as in
    Content-Description: my xml file
To avoid potential interpretation problems, it is recommended to combine the use of these headers.
Also, the same note contains all info you wnat on the options of the mail adapter. Take a look at it.

  • How to get filename from mail attachment

    Hi all,
I have a XI scenario Mail->XI->RFC. I have created my own adapter module which handle all attachments from incoming mail.
Everything work fine, but in my module I try to get information about filename of mail attachment. I use getContentType() metod to get the filename but this method return only the mimetype of the document. The getDescription() method return olny string "mail attachment". I need to get the original filename of the attachment or at least the file extension.
Is it possible to get the whole filename from mail attachment?
    Thanks
    Peter

    Hi,
You can tryout with adapter modules . You can make use of following Adapter attributes also -

  • Does anyone know how to use music transfered from another phone to the iphone as ringtones?

Does anyone know how to use ringtones that I put on my iphone from my previous phone? It went in as music and now I cant use as ringtones and figure out how to put it as ringtones.

    Two ways to do this:
Download an app, such as RMakerPro, which uses music on your phone to create ringtones.
Plug in to iTunes and find where your ringtones are listed. Drag them to your desktop, and then you will need to change the file type to .m4r, which can be done at www.freefileconvert.com.

  • How to use music as ringtones?

I just bought an IPhone 3Gs and is wondering if it is possible to use music / mp3s as ringtones?

You can use iTunes to manually create a ringtone with a music or sound file that does not include DRM protection.

  • How to use Notes in Mail?

    .. e.g.
    1. Where are Notes saved on a MacBook after File > New Note ... write note ... File > Save?
    2. Can you write a Note in OS X Lion Mail / MacBook, and end up with it in Notes on an iPad/iPhone?
The above covers it, the rest is a rant.
First, when apps have generic names like Mail or Notes, it makes it difficult to search for anything useful about them .. got to live with this. I have a cold too .. got to live with that, but I mention it as I feel under the weather and am getting fed up trying to do something simple and having to trawl the Support Community and Web with searches about Notes in Mail, just to find out how I should make effective use of Notes in OS X Lion Mail.
My question is in the heading. We all create Notes on our iPhone or iPad etc., and either end up with them in the Mail app on our Mac(Book) using IMAP or are using iCloud and can interact with the Notes there. However, I thought I'd try creating a new Note in the Mail app on my MacBook and push it the other way, to my iPad, or whatever. Although I'm using iCloud, my current set up uses IMAP to move my Notes around so forget iCloud for a minute. Great news in Mail, using File > New Note, was that the Note can have attachments, and if you attach a GIF say, you get the image in the Note - maybe everyone knows this and I'm the idiot.
So, I create a Note with attachments and just want to save it so it will end up on my iPad etc. .. File > Save is available, simple. However, where is the Note saved? It looks a lot to me like it's not saved anywhere and if you close it, have fun trying to find it again.
My research found a thread talking about making Notes searchable again by running the following Terminal command: mdimport ~/Library/Mail, but I really am not in the mood to press every button when all I am trying to do is basic functionality that I would expect to find in the "OS X Lion Applications User Guide" that other research here tells me doesn't exist (happy to be wrong).
Sorry to go on but it is mildly theraputic. Back to where the Note is saved, I did find that if you hit Send on the Note and then hit File > Save, you do get a copy of your draft email with No Recipients etc., in Drafts. However, it's an email with a Note in it, not a Note as found under Reminders > Notes, that you get when syncing a Note from your iPhone/iPad - it's also not going to end up in Notes on the iPad. Hmmm, another way to put these questions is: How do you write a Note on your Mac and end up with it in Notes on your iPhone/iPad? This cold must be really bad because this has to be such a dumb question.

I had the same issue. I found the answer on another thread written by an user named "hhoeksma". Here's what he/she wrote:
"You may be able to retrieve your Notes. They are probably in your Home folder under Library/Mail/V2/Mailboxes/Notes.mbox. You should make a copy of this folder and save it elsewhere; then look through the folders within this mailbox for files with a .emlx suffix. These files are your actual notes. If you open them they will open in mail and look like messages. You can then copy the contents elsewhere.
If your Library folder is not visible, go to the Finder, hold down the option key and select the Go menu--it will appear in the list.
I still do not have a way to synchronize (without iCloud) the Notes on my iPhone with those on my Mac, but at least I have the Notes accessible on my Mac."
hope it works for you too.

  • How To Use Stationery With Mail Replies

The issue of using stationery files was one of the main reasons why I personally resisted switching to Apple Mail from Eudora 6.2.4 for many years. I use stationery files a lot in Eudora.
Now that I have begun to use Apple Mail after all of these years -- I've been a solid Mac user for 21 years -- while I have been able to set up almost thirty custom stationery files, and can use them in original messages that I create -- although it takes seven steps from the time that I hit the "New Message" button to the time that I hit the "Send" button, while this can be accomplished in Eudora in only three steps using the "Message With" or "Reply With" message commands -- I have found absolutely no way to use my custom stationery files in reply messages in Apple Mail.
Surely there must be a simple way to include stationery files in reply messages. Can someone here please point me in the right direction? From what I can tell, there doesn't even appear to be a way to add the stationery button to the toolbar that is located on the top right side of the reply window.
I am also disappointed that there appears to be no way to delete the built-in stationery files that I have no use for, and which are just taking up space.
Furthermore, I haven't found any way to rearrange my custom stationery files in the order that I like them. I want to place the ones that I use the most on the left side of the display window. As it is now, the one that I use the most is located on the very end on the far right side, so I have to scroll way over to use it.
Apple, will you please address these basic Mail issues. Considering how advanced Mac OS X is, I am rather surprised that Apple Mail is deficient in these areas.
    Thanks so much!

As much as I have enjoyed using Eudora over the years, sadly, it is now falling behind the times. Some time ago, I began experiencing certain problems in some email messages, such as links not being clickable when they should have been, or at least not recognizing a certain link format, which resulted in Eudora throwing an error message. In other instances, email messages that were formatted in HTML were not displaying properly in Eudora.
The minute that I switched to Apple Mail, both of these issues were resolved, and I was quite surprised. It really made me realize how old Eudora has become. And the supposedly "new" Eudora? Nope, sorry, no thanks! That is not the real Eudora. I have now grown used to using Apple Mail, but again, I would really like the ability to respond with stationery files.
What also bugs me is that you cannot use stationery files with attachments, unless those attachments are images. For example, try attaching a zipped archive to an outgoing message that uses a stationery file. Everything seems okay until you hit the send button. Then you get a message which informs you that you either have to remove the zipped archive, or remove the stationery.
In the second decade of the 21st Century, I find these various problems with Apple Mail -- including the problems that I mentioned in my previous message -- totally unacceptable.

  • How to use encryption in Mail?

How does one send an encrypted email in Leopard/Mail? The Mail "help" menu alludes to this, but I'm not finding clear instructions for the clueless (such as myself). For example, I don't understand where to get a "personal certificate" or how to attach it to an account.

  • How to use chat in Mail

I have an outstanding thread with lots of questions about OS X's Mail and I feel it's getting nowhere but me sking more questions in the same thread.
SO can someone explain to me how the chat function works? I CAN log onto iChat and talk with my gmail contacts...but I want to do it in Mail.  Do I have to sign on to iChat?  If I have to do that why not just sign onto regular gmail?
    thanks!

    Hi Tom,
I  am sure my thinking on this is of the fuzzy variety.
However.  In Leopard there is the International Pane which you can set the Language that your computer uses.
You can also set the Keyboard input  which puts the Flag icon in the Menu bar.
You can also set Formats.  (Alters things like the way the date is formatted and what weight measurements you use).
I believe that this is called Text (and Something) in Lion.
My thinks went something along the lines of:-
If I change the Language does this effect the Spellcheck Dictionary is a way that would allow me (or the Original Poster) to type in one language and  spellcheck in another ?
Or if i set the format differently would this make a change ?
(I know if I change Format to the United States I can SMS to US Phone Numbers On services that provide th AIM link) from over here in iChat).
I can see that there are great flaws in this thinking and one would probably need to know what the word was in the first place.

  • How to use different e-mail addresses

I am new to mac and would like to know how to set up a different e-mail address for each"user". I have one for my business but i dont want that one to be used by my daughter. How do i set this up? Any info would help! Thanx

First you need to get your daughter her own email account with associated emal address provided by your internet service provider used for connecting to the internet which is included with your monthly service or by an email account provider only such as an Apple .Mac account, etc.
Next create a computer login account for your daughter without admin privileges which can be a managed account if desired.
    http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/family/
Each computer login account with OS X has its own Home folder/directory for storing data along with each user creating and accessing their email account only with the Mail application or their email client of choice under their login account.
Each login account has a Shared folder to place files, etc. to be shared by other users under their login account.
You can enable Fast User Switching to make the process of switching between multiple computer login accounts a fast and easy process and for added security, you can disable automatic login for your admin account or globally for all login accounts which requires manually entering your login account password to login to your account during a computer startup, restart and with fast user switching.

I try to get my mail through safari on my iphone using regular web-based yahoo mail. After I sign in, there is a toolbar at the bottom that has buttons like delete, compose mail etc. It was not there in the first place but I don't know what I pressed and it showed up. Is there any way to hide that toolbar?

Why would you want to use web based Yahoo mail when the iPhone supports Yahoo mail in the native mail client, even if it's not a premium account?
Just set up your yahoo account in Mail.

There are parameter in smartform interface called
      MAIL_RECIPIENT             = GWA_RECIPIENT
      MAIL_SENDER                = GWA_SENDER
I want to use them to send mail.
I have set my device type = 'MAIL' But I am getting error email address, is not valid . i.e. it is taking blank email address where as i have mention email address in
    GWA_RECIPIENT-OBJKEY      = <Emailaddress>
is there any other parameter i have to sent..
I wont want to go via long route of converting smartform into OTF or into PDF, whereas i think smartform interface itself is capable of sending contains as emails.
    Regards
    --AL.

    Hi VL,
You can't simply assign the email address to GWA_RECIPIENT-OBJKEY.
Inorder to use the standard smartform interface to sent the smartform via mail, the partner details need to be maintained in SAP. Say for example if you want to sent a PO to a vendor via email, the email address need to be maintained in XK01/02 transaction for that vendor in the address view.
Before calling the smart form function module, you need to populate the receipent data, with function module WFMC_PREPARE_SMART_FORM. If you give the address number and land, it will populate the receipent data.
See the report RLB_INVOICE (form set_print_param).
    Regards,
    Maddy.
