I know nothing about how to use my new ipod and when reading the little information that came with it, all I can do is turn it on.  Then in a few seconds it goes black, never having brought up a screen to do anything!  Help!  What do I do to get this thing going?

You might consider connecting it to the charger and charging up the battery overnight.

How to use old nano ipod with new computer

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library.  If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library.  So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.
See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

  • How to use lyrics with iPod

    Hello,
I was wondering if I can have lyrics with the music I have on my iPod, in particular, the .lrc files, so I can see the lyrics as the artist is singing the song? I would appreciate any and all comments on this topic. Is there an app I can use with the iPod? Can I do it with my iPhone 4 as well?
    Thank You.
    David

Put your headset in discovery mode (per the manufacturer's instructions), then go to Settings -> General -> Bluetooth and turn bluetooth on. When your headset appears, tap the "Not Paired" and if the iPod presents a display to enter to pairing code, type the code (typically 0000).
The iPod remains "discoverable" until you go to another page.

  • How to use imessage on ipod touch-messages going to email

My son has an ipod Touch current generation that we have updated with ios5 and I have new iphone 4s.  We are trying to get imessage to work so I can text him and he me on his ipod touch.  He can text me via imessage fine, but when I respond, it goes to his email, not into the imessage app.  it makes having a "conversation" a little challenging.  we each have apple ids that we are using, but I can't seem to figure out how to stop the messages from going to email vs. the imessage app.  thanks for any help.

Well, something might be wrong with my iPod. I added a contact to my iCal on the computer and check-marked the sync part in info. After I plugged my iPod to the computer it sure enough showed up on my iPod. However, when I try to add an event to my iPod it shows up twice for a split second with a red dot next to it then disappears. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong?

  • How to use iphone as ipod?

On craigslist, a person is selling a verizon iPhone 4s. And I wanted to buy it. But I only want to use it as a ipod! How do I do it? Take out the SIM card? What so I do?

Keep in mind that an iPhone must have a SIM card in it in order for a restore to complete successfully. If you have issues and need to restore the phone, not having the SIM in it will prevent the restore from completing.
I recommend leaving the SIM in the phone if you do choose to purchase it.

  • How to use Windows formatted iPod nano to move music to a new Mac?

    Hi all,
I need to transfer my iPhone's musics, songs, apps and photo, etc to the Mac and I came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329" guide at Apple Support site since I owned a iPod nano.
My questions is since my iPod nano is configured for Windows will the Mac be able to read it since it's stated clearly in the guide "While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle."
If I follow through the guide, 1. Switch the iPod to manual update and enable disk use, 2. Locating and consolidating the iTunes Media folder, 3. Copy iTunes folder to iPod. I will still need to restore the iPod to work in Mac and end up nothing left inside meaning songs, photo all erased.
Also, anyone using third party software like http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/ Can advise if it's good to use this? And if iPod nano configured for Windows can works with this?
Need other more solution other this to transfer the mentioned data to Mac.
    Thanks.

iPhone… iPod… iPod Nano… which one it is? You are trying to transfer music from what source, using what medium, and to what target?
    I came across this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329"
it's stated clearly in the guide "While a Windows formatted iPod may work on a Mac, Apple supports this configuration only with iPod shuffle."
Where exactly is this stated? I am unable to find this statement in the KB article you mentioned. And are you talking iPhone or iPod? This KB article applies only to iPod.

  • How to use net.rim.device.api.system.GPRSInfo in WTK 2.5.2 for CLDC

I have just started with JME coding for a month or so and done the following:
    - install sun_java_wireless_toolkit-2_5_2-windows.exe
    - install BlackBerry_JDE_4.6.0.exe
    - set PATH environment variable to ...;c:/program files/java/jdk1.6.0_07/bin;C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.6.0\bin
    - add in my source file import net.rim.device.api.system.GPRSInfo to get the Cell-ID (s = String.valueOf(cellinfo.getCellId()))
but get the following error when I try to build my project:
... package net.rim.device.api.system does not exist
    import net.rim.device.api.system.GPRSInfo;
What do I need to do to fix this?
    Thanks

Thanks Shan but this is not what I want to do. I don not want to develop into the BB JDE but stay with the WTK. The 2 MIDlet programming models are different and I want to use the standard J2ME model.
Anyway, I solved my issue by adding just the net.rim.device.api.system classes I need into the midpapi20.jar by simple unpacking the BB jar and the WTK jar into a new environment tree where I mixed what I need (actually just added the net.rim.device.api.system.GPRSinfo and GPRSCellInfo classes into the complete midpapi20.jar structure and repack the whole thing into a new midpapi.jar.
I can now access the RIM API form within my MIDlet buitl with WTK

The only iPod way is iPod touch 4.1: http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/
If you do not want to keep your 3g, you may be able to trade it in at some retail stores.
If not, and if you cannot find a buyer locally, you can search for buyers such as this:

  • How to use Mac formatted ipod in windows

    Hey all,
I'm trying to transfer files i backed up to my ipod to my windows laptop but it's asking me to format the ipod first correct me if im wrong but won't that wipe out all the info in the ipod and if so is there a work around i wanna transfer docs/pics/tunes to my pc as my mac is in for repairs. Any thoughts?

If you need to use a Mac (HFS+) formatted iPod on a Windows PC, you'll need to install some 3rd party software such as XPlay 2.0 (which you can get from MediaFour Software). This will enable your Windows PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod.

  • How to use Brasso on ipod

I bought a can of Brasso today along w/ a Microfiber cloth used for eyeglasses and digital cameras and the scratches didn't go away. Is there a certain way to apply the Brasso to the ipod?

sorry for the long post, but this is my "actual user recount," for you! hehe
first of all, Brasso is mostly intended for metal objects. if you're using it on the back of the iPod, you can mostly expect that it will make your iPod very shiny, but it won't eliminate scratches, despite some folks claims.
if you're using it on the front of the iPod, Brasso supposedly works on plastic watch parts, like the clear face piece.
i tried Brasso on my own 5G/60GB black iPod, with no success. i figured, it only cost me $3 bucks, so it was worth a shot.
next, i spent about $5 at a local auto parts store and bought a bottle of Mother's California Gold Scratch Remover. it works on cars, bikes, and fiberglass boats. i thought, "why not on an iPod?"
using the product with a natural chamoise (shammy) cloth, i saw no results from the first application. then i read that you need to "re-apply several times and use some serious elbow grease."
so, i re-applied about six times, gently-tho-firmly wiping the product in.
my iPod had a deep gouge right across the screen. after six applications and about twenty-five minutes, the deep gouge was completely gone. however, there were a plethora of tiny, fine swirl scratches left behind. my attitude was, "better to have these fine, barely noticable scratches than the deep gouge."
i also purchased Power Support's Crystal Films ($14), a protective cling-skin designed specifically for the 5G iPod. when i applied the skin to the iPod screen, it magically became like brand new again! not even a hint of a fine, swirl or blemish or anything!
i swear by the Mother's Gold product and i swear by Power Support's films. and the whole bundle cost me under $20 and about an hour of my life.
here's a link to my (crappy) before and after shots:

i truly hope this helps! good luck
