  • AFTER receiving a text message, how to turn off sound on Palm Pre

Someone has to help me with this, because I'm at my wits' end! I used to have a Palm Centro, and really, any other phone before my new Palm Pre, goes something like this:
    1. You get a notification ring(s) when you receive a new voicemail or text message
    2. You press the volume button, hit the screen, etc
    3. THE NOTIFICATION RINGS STOP!!!!
Does Palm Pre not have that capability? If I'm texting back and forth with someone, I have to listen to the WHOLE THING EVERY TIME? Tell me that Palm has thought of a way to fix this, because it's driving me batty. It's the only thing I completely hate about this phone, and I can't find anyone here that has had the same issue...
How do I make the ringing stop?????

I don't know about anyone else, I get the notification for everything that happens: for IM's, texts, when I charge the battery, when I'm low in battery, etc. The issue that I have, and that I hope someone has the solution, is that from my old Palm Centro, and really, every phone I've ever owned, there was something I could press that would stop the notification! Nothing stops the notification though! and it's a good 30 seconds... Which is not a big deal when it's one text message, but when it's 4 texts messages going, it never stops!

  • Texting...feel dumb asking, but how do I text with my Palm Pre?

Sorry my first post on this great forum has to be such a newbie one, but no one in this area at the various Verizon offices know anything at all about the Palm Pre. All Blackberry brain-washed it seems. Anyway, I can't seem to find simple steps to texting and when I do what one person finally told me to do, it ends up as an AOL email.
    Help! and thanks, Kate

The application you're looking for is the Messaging app. Open your keyboard and type mess (or if you forget that, typing sms will also show its icon). Tap the Messaging app and you're ready to text away!

  • Palm Pre Hotspot Issue

Anyone else use a Palm Pre Hotspot on Verizon with their iPad?
I use one and have this problem with both iPad & IPod:
    http://www.thedailyoutrage.com/outrages/2010/4/1/palmed.html
    Anyone else?

I just spent (another) hour on the phone with Palm and they said because my laptop connects fine, the problem is with Apple and there could be settings on the iPad to adjust.
When I asked (1) Exactly what sort of CLIENT settings could possibly affect ROUTER bandwidth, and (2) How CLIENT requests would have any bearing whatsoever on router performance, he had no answer. But was firm in his commitment.
My answers to these questions are quite logical, but if someone knows better please let me know.
    (1) With TCP/IP there are no such settings.
    (2) If the router has some sort of QoS settings and the iPod/iPad is making the "wrong" kinds of requests, that could do it.
Other than that, though, how could Apple be throttling customers who use their devices with Palm Pre's? I can see how Palm would do it -- because "iPad" shows up in the router's DHCP table. But does a similar manufacturer ID/Name show up on the client side?
So one test for my theory that Palm is purposefully throttling Apple devices is if there's some way to change how the iPad/iPod identifies itself to the Pre. For example, my Macbook works fine with the Pre Hotspot but with one KEY difference -- its DHCP table ID is its MAC address, NOT a product name.
    All very, very frustrating...

  • Adobe Flash Reader for Palm Pre

there are some web sites that you need the adobe Flash Reader to watch video, is there anyone that knows how to get it on the palm pre? it shows up saying that i need the latest download, can anyone help me?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

The Flash plugin for the Pre is not ready yet. I found a blog post dated today that reports this:
It’s official: Adobe’s CEO, Shantanu Narayen, announced in the Q2 audio press release that a version of Flash Player 10 beta will be available for Smartphone’s browsers starting this October (during Adobe MAX) . The FP10 will be available on Google Android, Nokia Symbian OS, Window Mobile and Palm Web OS Pre browsers.

I can't confirm or deny, I don't really follow Adobe news.

  • Blocking Calls on Spring using Palm Pre

Somehow, someone programmed my number into MovieFone so it calls me multiple every day and I have no way to stop it.  I have not found any way to contact MovieFone and Sprint says there is no way to block the calls from coming everyday.
Does anyone know of a way to block calls on Sprint or know if s way to block a call from a Palm Pre.  I know I can change the ring, but how can I change the ring so it does nothing instead of ringing?
I do have to say that I was amazed that Sprint did not have the capabilities to block calls.  I have never had the need to use this, but I thought it was common.
Thanks to anyone who can help me,
    Craig
    Post relates to:

Same issue, Sprint says there is no way they can block calls the only option they provided was changing phone numbers.
If Palm won't include a Call Filtering program with WebOS, then why not allow third party developers to do it for you? Windows Mobile, Blackberry, and Android all have 3rd party call block applications that will block certain numbers or private/unknown callers.
A WM developer stated that because Palm hasn't opened the telephony programming interface to developers, they are unable to create a call block program. A simple google for WebOS call block and you'll see how much of a wanted feature this is.
I hope Palm will re-consider adding some type of call filter to WebOS in an OTA update, or open up the programming so a 3rd party can do it instead.

  • Use Palm Pre Profile or Create New HP Profile for Touchpad?

I have a Pre+ and using my original Palm Profile for backups, etc.  When my Touchpad arrives, should I use my original Pre Profile or create a separate HP Profile?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using the same profile for both devices?

I have the Palm Pre2 and the HP Touchpad. I set up the touchpad first, created the webOS account using yahoo mail address. When I received my Palm Pre2, I created the palm profile using the same email address.
The first connect of the two, a few apps that I installed on my touchpad synced onto my palm. Now, I cannot get this to happen again.
Also, on my Palm Pre 2, the phone came with a palm profile already on it...Dr. Skipped Firstuse...how do I delete this and where did it come from?
Unless I am mistaken, the sync of apps between the devices only happens one time: when the device is first brought online and into the webOS Account.
Not sure what you mean by Dr. Skipped Firstuse.  Could you give us a screenshot?  To take a screenie press at the same time: Orange (may be White on your phone), Sym and P keys.

  • Getting iCal and Address Book onto Palm Pre (if you use Missing Sync)

If you use Missing Sync to sync your address book/iCal to your Palm, it looks like you will have to setup a Gmail account and a Google calendar.  You can then export your iCal calendars to a folder and import them into your Google calendar from the web.  Download a free trial of Spanning Sync to sync your contacts (only!!) to your Google contacts and then your Palm Pre should be able to subscribe to your Google calendar and your google contacts (Which should be identical to your iCal). The only question from here is how any new contacts or appointments on your computer will sync to the Pre.  Maybe Missing Sync will come out with something.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

I'm running Missing Sync 1.0.2 for Palm Pre and WebOS 1.4.  It seems to work but it is really slow - takes 11 minutes to sync my contacts and calendars over a fast wifi connection.  I have about 1000 contacts and a complex calendar, but i'm only syncing 2 months past and future.
i opened a ticket about this, we'll see what happens.
Does anyone have any experience with the speed of Missing Sync over wifi prior to webOS 1.4?  This is a new device, i updated it to 1.4 immediately before installing Missing Sync.

  • New Palm Profile for Used Palm Pre

    Hi,
I bought a second-hand Palm Pre (Movistar, ES) and now want to establish a new Palm Profile so I can use the phone in Australia (Optus, AU).
How do I set up a new Palm Profile on this phone ?
It is currently running WebOS 1.4
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi,
I wiped the device and started from scratch and couldn't get past the Insert SIM etc screen.
When I restarted the device, it then locked in Seting Language.
I have now gone back to WebOS 1.3.5.2 using a Meta-Doctor hack, and can run the device, use phone etc.
When I ran the First Use App, it asked for my language then did a reboot, and still not Palm Profile.
Is there a Palm website where I can set up a profile, and the use my ESN to get Palm to send the info to my phone ?
I also tried using root-based program to force a profile creation:
    luna-send -n 1 palm://com.palm.accountservices/createNovaAccount {\"password\":\"YOURPASSWORD\",\"email\":\"[email protected]\",\"firstName\":\"YOURFIRSTNAME\",\"lastName\":\"YOURLASTNAME\",\"language\":\"en\",\"country\":\"gb\",\"questionId\":\"2\",\"response\":\"FIRSTCAR\"}
This came back with ACCOUNT_CREATION_ERROR "Could not get account server url"
Any help appreciated, as I want to download proper Palm Apps, as well as the Homebrew Apps.
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Ditto.
You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

  • How do I synch my Palm Pre Plus with Outlook 2010 running on Windows 7 - 64 Bit

Any 3rd party apps that will do this>
Post relates to: Pre Plus p100una (AT&T)

I have been using my Palm TX for years, with Chapura's KeySuite, in order to sync contacts, calendars, notes and tasks (including categories) with Outlook 2003 in two computers (home and office.) I expected to be able to do the same with the Palm Pre Plus, but this is what Chapura have told me:
"We only offer software that syncs with Palm OS or the Pre webOS devices. PocketMirror would be our software that works with these devices. The Pre webOS does not support categories for the calendar and contacts. The calendar and contact categories remain in Outlook. They just do not sync to the Pre. The tasks and notes applications that come on the Pre do not support categories. However, in order to sync tasks and notes we had to create our own tasks and notes applications for the Pre. Our tasks and notes application do support categories."
"You cannot sync with more than one PC using our Pre software. It is only designed to allow you to sync the Pre with one PC. The only software we offer that will allow a handheld to sync with multiple PCs would be our Palm OS software."
Bummer. So this means that I will be able to sync Outlook 2003 to the Pre (albeit imperfectly -- no categories in calendars nor contacts), but I won't be abe to sync to a 2nd PC...

  • How to use pre-mapping process operator

    Hi,
I am using OWB version 10.1.0.4.0.
There are two source tables namely src1_tb(id1,field1,field2), src2_tb(id2,field3,field4) and a target table namely target_tb(id1,id2,field1,field2,field3,field4).
It's a simple mapping with a join operator. Here, when I try to use a pre-mapping process operator 'LENGTH', with input from outgroup of join operator (field1) and output linked to an added field( VALUE_LENGTH) in Traget Table, it gives error "VLD-2451: Connection to premapping is invalid" and a warning "VLD-1008 :Referenced mapping column VALUE_LENGTH" does not exist"
Can anyone please let me know how to use pre-mapping process operator.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Pawan

yes, a pre-mapping procedure is not what you want here.
Pre-mapping procedures run once when the mapping initializes and before the actual ETL is run. IT is a place where you could do some custom data cleansing / validation, populate your own audit loggin tables if you wish, or whatever other things you might like to do.
For what you are describing, you want to pass the field through an expression object. Drop the Expression on the canvas and drag a link from the field in your OUTGRP to the INGRP on the expression This will auto-create the corresponding ingrp attribute in the expression for that field. Then double-click the expression object to bring up it's properties sheet. You will then want to create an OUTGRP attribute called length_value of type number, and set it's Expression property to length(ingrp1.your_Field_name_here). You can then connect from this outgrp field to your field in the target table.
    Cheers,
    Mike

    Hello!
Plug your phone into your computer and select USB drive.  This will make you phone like a USB stick.  Open the Palm Pre drive on your computer and then open the DCIM folder.  From there, you will see your vids and pics to copy/paste to your computer.  Like any USB storage device, be sure to properly eject it.
