How to use new aluminum apple remote with an imac

How does it work?  Menu button doesn't seem to do anything.  I paired it io and got the linking chain icon.  The volume up down works, and sometimes the left right buttons move itunes to the next selection, but that's it.  I was not able to find an online articel

You can load your RAW images to any iPad either using the Camera Connection kit that comes with two dongles. One for inserting an SD card from your camera to load the images. Or the USB dongle which you can connect the USB cord for your camera to the iPad to load the images. There are a few CF card readers that will work with the iPad if your camera uses those a Google search will feret them out for you. Additionally, you can also load images to iPad, iPhone or iPod touch (as well as laptops and desktop cumputers) using WiFi as you capture them using an EyeFi SD card.

A good app for working with EyeFi on the iPad is Shuttersnitch (though, it does not coordinate with Lightroom)

Unfortunately their isn't any RAW processing image editing software for the iPad that Lightroom can make use of the edits. Though there is an app called Photosmith that will allow you to rate, label, add keywords etc. then you can upload that info to Lightroom on your laptop or desktop cimputer and have that info synced to the images. You do have to transfer the image files themselves from the iPad to your workstation seperately.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can use the keyboard you want with your iMac. However, note that some keys, as the Command key, aren't present in non-Apple keyboards. For example, in a non-Apple keyboard, you have to press the Windows key because that's the replacement of the Command key of an Apple keyboard

  • How to pair my white apple remote with my macpro?

this is the kind of mac I have G87151S7UQ2 (I think?)
its a tower pro, and I'd like to pair my white apple remote with it
    Thank you!

The Mac Pro does not have a built-in IR receiver. You can however buy a USB IR receiver and use that in conjunction with your Apple Remote.

How do I pair my apple remote to my Apple TV?

Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Fast Forward buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a chain icon on screen.

  • HT1551 How do I pair multiple apple remotes with the same apple TV

I have one apple TV but it is is access on multiple screens via a matrix system. I therefore need an apple remote in each room so I am not having to carry the same one from room to room. Please can someone let me know how this is achieved . . .

It's almost counter-intuitive the way this works. You have to actually "unpair" the remote that it is paired to - then once no specific Apple TV remote is paired, all remotes (any remote, including standard TV remotes) will work!
    The step-by-step would be:
Using a remote that is currently paired navigate to General under settings.
    Go to Remotes.
    Select "Unpair Apple Remote"
Once unpaired, simply back out of all the menus using the menu button to see that it does work. Then try on your other remote(s). It/they will now also work.
You can even use the Learn Remote feature to use a standard TV remote. I use my Directv remote and it works great.
The ONLY thing you need pairing for is if you want only one remote to be capable of controlling the ATV. So therefore unpair any remote that's paired, and you'll be golden.

  • How to use new iPad3 in conjunction with Lightroom on desktop iMac?

Workflow:  Will this work?  Camera RAW to iPad3 to Lightroom???
I would like to use my new iPad3 in conjunction with my already-established Lightroom workflow on my desktop Mac.  What I have in mind is to shoot in RAW (Sony SLT A-65 - 24.3 megapixels) and then, in the field, transfer my photos from the camera to the iPad3 (64GB version).  On the iPad I might do some rudimentary editing - deleting duds, etc. - but I will still do all my significant editing in Lightroom on the Mac.  Thus, I need to import the photos, from the iPad, in either RAW or DNG into LightRoom once I get back to my office.  My questions are:
Is it possible to import RAW photos into the iPad3 and either keep them in RAW or convert them to DNG?
Is it possible to export RAW or DNG photos from the iPad3 into Lightroom?
What app(s) do I need on the iPad3 to make this happen?
FYI - I am using Lightroom3, but will upgrade to Lightroom4 if that makes any difference in whether this will work or not.
Thanks so much, in advance, for your suggestions and your advice!

  • Can you use the same Apple ID with multiple iMac's?

I am a teacher and I have multiple iMac's in my room and I need to be able to purchase apps one time and have them on all my computers.  Is this possible?  I know that I can do it with multiple iPad's but can I do with iMac's?

Yes logon to each computers itunes and away you go.
To redownload on each itunes got to the itunes store, select Purhased from the quick links section and navigate to what you want to redownload.
If you want to do it for apps that run on the Macs not on the iPad you need to login to the Mac AppStore and login with the same apple id and download apps that work on macs

  • External Apple isight with a imac G5

Really need help to figure this one out.
I have not used this isight before it has been bought secondhand.
Trying to use an external Apple isight with a imac G5 (without built in isight) running on Leopard OSX 10.5.8.
looked in my Utilities and can't find anything relating to isight.
Done system update and tried to download isight updater 1.0.3 but that does not work for OSX 10.4 or later.
    Many thanks for your time
    Additional Details:
Also when I go into System profiler and look in FireWire it says unknown device.
    and also went into:
    finder/system/library/coreservices/isightupdater
It will ask me to plug in an isight (which I do) to install and still nothing happens.
& also best till last - No green light what so ever
Do you think it maybe broken?
I really hope not as it was sold as fully working

    Welcome to Discussions, jonsonby
Based on the info you posted, if Defcom's good suggestion does not restore proper function, I think the external iSight is defective.
The simplest way to test that for certain is to connect your iSight (use the same cable you use) to another Mac, particularly one that works with a known-good external iSight. If you do not have access to another Mac and/or another external iSight for testing, a local Apple retailer may be able to do the test for you at little or no cost.

  • How can I use apple remote with Mountain Lion? Any Front Row alternative?

    Hi All,
I recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
All great except for my Apple Remote control.
Before, I could effectively control my iMac media with Apple Remote by using Front Row (music, photos, videos, good integration with iTunes and iPhoto).
Now, as I understand, Front Row is expired.
So, my Apple remote still works but with very limited options (just music, forward, backward and volume), and it's a real pity.
Any of you Guys know how to restore Front Row?
Otherwise maybe suggest an alternative (sth similar, should allow iMac media control by Apple Remote)?
So far I tried to restore all Front Row files by a Time Capsule Snow Leopard backup (as indicatred on some other Communities).
To restore was easy, but then, no way to launch it.
    Any advice will help!
    Thanks in advance/all the best.
    Marco

Thanks Klaus1 for your prompt answer, although I went again through a dated discussion.
I also got the feeling that somehow they want to push Apple TV..
But, respectfully speaking towards our Friends at Apple, is it fair to promise what you don't deliver?
I have choosen apple because I percive it's different.
    At currently published link: http://store.apple.com/uk/product/MC377Z/A/apple-remote
    they do promote the following:
    Apple Remote with Mac
The Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It works with Front Row - a menu-based, full-screen interface - to make accessing the digital content on your Mac as simple as navigating your iPod. When you press the Menu button, your desktop fades and the sleek, Front Row interface takes its place, to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Videos folder and your DVDs. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slide show, a home video that you made in iMovie, even a film trailer.
Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver. Not compatible with MacBook Pro with Retina display.
Cost for this is 15£ (19€).
Now, I have iMac and Mac Book Pro (no retina display) both with Mountain Lion installed, and I understand both of them are not compatible with Front Row.
Actually I adore apple tv and I got 2 at home nicely working on 2 different TVs.
So I accomplished twice their wish of selling this product to me.
Why shall they deceive me (and many others, as I read) by killing a still promised service?
Should I read all forums before buying a trusted-brand-product like apple, to ensure that id does what declared?
Don't get me wrong, I'm an enthusiast user of the whole apple family, since many years, and still I am.
Just politely complaining for this decision, which creates to Many an easy avoidable disservice.
    Cheers
    Marco

  • Using apple remote with ipod touch 4th gen

i've seen on the apple website that you can use the apple remote with the ipod 4th generation. how does it work? because isn't the apple remote an ir device? or does it work off bluetooth? some advice on how to use the apple remote would be great. thanks.

You also need Apple's Universal Dock. The description of the remote says:
Note: The Apple Remote requires the iPod Universal Dock and any iPod with a dock connector or any iPhone.,Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in infrared (IR) receiver.

  • Using Apple remote with macbook display closed

    Hi ,
I have a macbook connected to LCD TV with HDMI connection .
Is there a way to use Apple remote with display closed .
examples of using apple remote with display closed would be
    (1) waking the macbook with apple remote
    (2) putting the macbook to sleep with apple remote
    (3) Shutting down the macbook with apple remote
    (4) accessing front row (using LCD TV as Display )
while doing this should I connect the macbook to power source.
please point me to any documentation / solutions available .
I don't have any external keyboard or mouse connected to macbook . I just want to use Apple remote to do the above functions .
    Thanks

    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Hi suresh,
    as mentioned here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86286
    and
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300562
you must have to have a keyboard or mouse to trigger the macbook wake up from sleep when you close the lid.
usb mouse is not that expensive and you can start with that.
    Good Luck
