How to use online store? Always tries to use program
Like a lot of people, I can't access the iTunes store through iTunes. A lot of posts I've read say to use the online store, but whenever I try to do that, it tries to use the iTunes program. I can search for artists and songs online, but as soon as I go to listen to them, it brings up iTunes and I get that annoying error notification. Not to mention that I want to connect to check out the top 100 downloads and there doesn't appear to be any way to do that from the online store.

Alright, I guess I misunderstood.
On a thread about not being able to connect to the iTunes store, a few people mentioned using the iTunes online store; I thought it was an alternative, but I guess I was wrong.
So the error notification doesn't matter anymore either. Thanks.

Is this when updating apps or the iPad's iOS version ? If apps then any apps that your daughter downloaded onto the iPad will be tied to her account, so only her account can download updates to those apps (you would need to delete the apps and buy/download them with your own account to be able to download future updates to them with your account) then she could try getting her password reset via http://iforgot.apple.com
If you are trying to update the iOS version on it and she's left it tied to her iCloud account then with iOS 7 and activation lock only her account will be able to re-activate the iPad. She can try getting her password reset via the above iforgot link. -
When playing a home video DVD (created on my Panasonic DVD/Hard Disc recorder) using the Mac DVD Player, I tried to use the "Controls, Use current frame as jacket picture" facility to create a printable image but with no success. I assume that any file created by this action would be stored somewhere in a common format but cannot find any such file. Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Interesting to know about 10.8 and Flash. I'll hold off upgrading until they work together. Currently using 10.6.8 at home and same on the Universtity's computers.
Haven't verified on Windows but shall do later in the week if I can get access to a Windows machine.
Both the Flash player and the Projector come up not full screen, and if I leave it that way then things work OK as long as I don't make the video full screen (using the full screen button on the skin).
However if I make the swf or projector full-screen (by using CMD-F or the menu option) then when I click on the menu item to take me to the page with the video on it, instead of a page with a smallish video and back button I get a black screen with no obvious controls. If I then press Escape I get my normal screen back and I am in the page that should have the video but there is not video and the back button does not work. So something wierd is going on here.
If I make a file without any videos with a similar navigation structure everyting works ok except that when I go full screen I lose the finger cursor when I roll over my buttons (which is also wierd). -
I can't really add any more than this. Often the PDF is incompatible with this older (v6) of adobe professional.
What is your operating system?

I made the whole foto brighter, thenI "caught" the brighter part with Lasso-function to make it darker.But this didn't work!!If you have a RAW version of the photo, you can adjust the shadow and highlight contrast in Adobe Camera Raw. Later versions of PS also allows you to open jpgs and other file formats in ACR, so you can use these adjustments.

Is unlocked iphone from UK apple retail store the same as from online store
Today I bought an unlocked iphone 4 from my local UK Apple Retail store. I explained to the store assistant that as I work abroad for several months at a time I needed to be able to use my iPhone with both a UK carrier( not sure which one to go with yet), and a local carrier when in another country, therefore I wanted an unlocked sim free one. I bought the 16gig version and payed the full £499 for it, however, when I got home and looked at the receipt it also lists a "No Contract Sim" with a part number but with a unit price of £0.00.
So I am confused..! Is this the same as the sim free iphone available from the online store and can I use it with any carrier by swapping the sim card depending on my needs? Or, is this some other kind of sim card that will lock the phone once I activate it the first time. I had assumed that by paying the full price I was getting an unlocked sim free phone as described on the UK online store description. If it is not, I will need to return it and order one online.The iPhone could be purchased at full price only at retail stores not online at least in US:

This lines above are the info that you can read in a pop-up FAQ that will appear if you click on one nicely hidden FAQ link, reading: "Is a new contract with AT&T required?", located on the bottom left corner of the ordering process area.
What is misleading is that the FAQs on the landing page where users can select a 3GS or a 4, the FAQ for "Can I buy an iPhone without an AT&T contract?" is answered with a straight "No. iPhone requires a two-year AT&T wireless service contract." Such statement applies only to online store purchases and that's a piece of info that only a more careful, meticulous and OCD reader may find out since another FAQ tucked away elsewhere (read below) says you can buy iPhones at full price by going to any Apple Retail Store.
There is no way for me to give you a direct link to the other FAQ stating that, because it's accessible only during a purchasing session, therefore you'll have to go through the few steps below if you want to read that FAQ by yourself:
1) Go to the online store,
2) Select the iPhone image to start the buying process,
3) Once on the page where you can choose the 3GS or the 4, select one,
4) On the next page you should see 3 FAQ links (gray text, the bottom left corner),
5) Click the one that reads: "Is a new contract with AT&T required?",
6) Read the FAQ in the pop-up that will open after you clicked on the link.
There are no further details about unlocking, jail-breaking or the fact that the iPhone 4 uses a micro SIM instead of a standard or mini SIM card so you may want to ask more info in that regard to a Genius at the Retail Store to learn more about how you can buy an iPhone and use it with another carrier outside US.
If UK and US sales work following the same rules, your iPhone bought online should be carrier-locked, so if you've got one that was unlocked and contract-free from the UK store then either you are lucky guy, or sales in UK are more flexible than US. In both cases what would count is that your phone is unlocked, now the info you may want to get is simply what SIM and Carrier services will work on your iPhone when you are in US.

Safari keeps trying to use Adobe Reader to view PDFs
I had to download adobe reader because my banks electronic statements can only be read by it. Even tho it is not my default reader Safari always tried to use it to read a pdf. I can't find any way to tell Safari to use Preview again without uninstalling Adobe Reader.

Without Adobe Reader installed, they either would not download or would download a blank pdf page.
With Aobe Reader installed, you can download to view in Safari, but cannot save on your Mac as a .pdf.
[When Adobe Reader is default .pdf reader it hijacks the Export PDF option, including using printer driver to print to file as .pdf]
Deleting AdobePDFVewer.plugin from /Library/Internet will work, but there are a couple of easier fixes than deleting and reinstalling the plugins:
You can switch the default viewer back and forth (including Safari's default viewer) by:
Right click on a .pdf file and from the context menu select Get Info > Open With: (select Adobe Reader or Preview) > Change All and close the popup to set selected app as default.
If you have to use Adobe Reader to view a .pdf on the picky site and decide to save it - don't try to use Adobe Reader to do so (via Safari).
Instead either:
1. Option click on the site's link to the .pdf to download to your default download folder.
- or-
2. Right click on the site's link to the .pdf and select either "download linked file..." or "Save linked file as.." and save to desired folder.
I am not sure if this will work in all cases, but so far it has worked OK for those I normally use. -
IPhone Developer Program (Apple Online Store not available in my country)
I registered to the iPhone Developer Program (at the beginning of the beta) and a few weeks back i received an e-mail from Apple, that i can enroll to the Developer Program. I clicked on the link in the e-mail, and it brought me to a country selection page, where i had to select which country's Apple Online Store i want to use to purchase the product (the Apple Developer Program). The problem is my country (Hungary) don't have an Online Store, so i couldn't finish the enrollment process.
Can anyone help me about this issue? Is there any other way to purchase it?Any news about it?

How do I block this msg from always popping up "iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to be installed to use the iTunes Store within iTunes. You need to use the CHAT link in support to reach Adobe staff. Be sure you know the product name you are trying to cancel, Adobe have lots of products, several converters etc. I think it is ExportPDF you have, most likely.
