How to use Photoshop CC Pattern Fill

I have the latest version of Photoshop CC. When I go to Pattern Fill the box only shows me Contents, Blending. When I put in Patterns that is all I get. I do not get the bottom of the template that says Scripted Patterns. What am I doing wrong?

In Ps 2014.2 some scripted patterns have been moved to Filter>Render menu:

How to use Photoshop CS6

Hi Peeps,
I have been using Photoshop Elements 4.0 but now I have to switch to Photoshop CS6 as there are some printing issues with Elements 4.0.
I would like to seek for your kind advices how to use Photoshop CS6 as I can't seems to find the answer in support link.
In Elements 4.0, there is a Pencil mode we can use and set the size but i did not find it in CS6 except the Pen mode.
As well as in Elements 4.0, i can show grid lines as i need to make the images centralised but i cant find in CS6 also, the option is greyed-out.
May i seek for the users/experts of Photoshop CS6 to enlighten me?

In Elements 4.0, I just have to simply select Pencil -> Size: 3 px, Mode: Normal Opacity: 100% and I can get the size of the pencil line that I need.

But in CS6, i tried the combination of 2B pencil -> Size: 3 px, Mode: Normal Opacity: 100%, but it does not work so i go to extend to set Brush Tip Shape.
See green box 1: its the pencil line that I want.
See green box 2: its set to 3px, square pointed, softness: 100% but it's too big and looks faded.
See green box 3: All is the same except is 2px but at least it looks so much alike to the one i need (dark, black solid line) but it's too thin.
Can enlighten me how to go about it plssss?

The tutorial courses that got me going were on lynda.com. Both the PE and PrE courses are taught by instructors that know the software and how to teach on line.
The difference between random turtorials and a course is organization. A course has a beginning, or foundation and builds skills one at a time. Random tutorials like on Adobe TV or YouTube can be very good but they don't have the sequential skill building process.
Many of the Adobe TV tutorials are chapters provided by lynda.com as part of their marketing program. If you like them, you can pay the $25 a month for the full course work.

Photoshop is a huge program with a pretty steep learning curve. I would look at your local library or bookstore for a book for your particular version of Photoshop.
Adobe Classroom in a Book is a good starting point.
I also like books by Deke McClelland, Scott Kelby and Ben Willmore.
You may also want to look at signing up at Lynda.com to access their vast video tutorial library (I believe it is $25 USD/month.)

How do I "lock" a pattern fill within a shape?

I want to stop my pattern fill from shifting within its shape. It (the pattern fill) seems to move when I send my file to another user to work on. I have tried "expand" but that, at times, changes the pattern fill entirely (lines get skinnier or fatter)! I am using CS2. Thanks.

It shouldn't move when someone else just opens the file. But when the object is copied to a different file, the pattern will most probably move. You can prevent it from moving in the same file when you check the option "Transform pattern" in the preferences.
Could you show an example of what's happening when you expand the pattern?

I am unaware of a universal work flow.
Suggest the following considerations for your projects:
For printing, resolution should be 240-300 px/in. For web work, 72 px/in is ok
File>new>blank>file will allow you to set the parameters
Optimize the background
Add your component graphics. Each should be on a separate layer. Ideally, the resolution of the graphics should be the same value as used in step #2
Make adjustments with adjustment layers, e.g. levels, brightness/contrast
Sharpen last
Please post examples of your work in progress for additional guidance.

When you create a Std Text in SO10 and save, it is saved with 4 parameters
like TEXT NAME, LANGUAGE, TEXT OBJECT, TEXT ID. these are the four parameters by default will be created for any std text when you create a TEXT in SO10 or in any document.
You will know this 4 parameters from SO10 screen.

from Menu -> GOTO -> HEADER, see them.
Next when you wants to fetch this text using READ_TEXT fun module
yopu have to pass this 4 parameters to that fun module.

How to use javascript to auto fill a signature

I am new to Adobe Acrobat Pro 9. I have scanned a paper form/document that originally had various data lines to be written on using an ink pen. I saved the scanned PDF as an Acrobat 9 PDF. I have added various pertinent text fields and checkboxs to PDF form and saved it with appropriate extended setting to allow end-user to type on PDF and save a copy. At the bottom form there is a name/signature text field for end-user name to be typed and a calendar text date when name/signature text field is entered .
I need to send this PDF form to various end-users using (Groupwise/Novell) email to have them sign or type their name and date at bottom of form. Is there a way that Adobe Acrobat 9/PDF will recognize the email sender and allow the name/signature field to automatically fill-in signature/name textbox. Are there tools like javascript, etc. that will help me accomplish this task?
I don't know where to begin. I am a newbie. Please help!

It's a bit of a lengthy discussion. I'd recommend two places to read up on what seed values are and how to set them. First, check out the Security Admin Guide, specifically Chapter 9 - Controlling Signing with Seed Values. That will give you a good understanding of what a seed value is and what it can do. The next thing to look at is the JavaScript for Acrobat API Reference. Once you get to the web page click the Search button in the left hand panel, type in "Seed Value" (without the quotes) in the edit field, and then click the Go! button. You're looking for the section signatureSetSeedValue and there you will find some examples at the bottom of the page that will help you get started.

I would like to filter my Lightroom catalog by people in the photo. This could be done manually in Lightroom using metadata, however, Photoshop Elements 11 Organiser has an auto-analyse feature that does this automatically and creates Image Tags for all identified people. How do I use the Photoshop Elements 11 Organiser Image Tags in Lightroom 4.4?
I have tried:
Created image tags for identified people. These are listed in the Image Tags section of the main workspace and can be used within Photoshop Elements 11 Organiser to filter on people using Search and People features.
Updated metadata within Lightroom
Searched for tags in all metadata fields using Library Filters
I have been unable to find any mention of these Image Tags in the file metadata - perhaps they only exist in the Photoshop Elements 11 Catalog? If so, does anybody have a best practice for transferring this information between Photoshop Elements 11 and Lightroom 4.4?

Yes you can open multiple images into PSE from LR. But actually there is no great advantage in using Lightroom for Photomerge as the export copies are already created in the Library but the saved copy will be the merged version which LR will know nothing about, and which would need to be imported to the library separately.
I would personally start from Expert Mode in PSE11 and then use:
File >> Open
Navigate directly to the folder and select the images you want and click open.
If they are raw files they will open up in camera raw and will already have the light room adjustments included, if the metadata has been saved to file in Lightroom.
Click select all (top left) and then ensure the image depth is set to 8 bits using the drop down menu at the bottom of the dialog. Then click the open images button (bottom right) to send them all into PSE.

How best use Photoshop CS6 (not CC) to edit AVCHD video?

Neither Photoshop CS6 Extended (not CC) nor OS 10.10.2 seem to recognize AVCHD files on a camera card?
Yet, iMovie will import them -- apparently for use in iMovie only. The quality as seen in iMovie is poor and the program is inferior to even the simplified video editing facility in CS6.
How do I get access to these video files in the highest possible quality and bring them into CS6 Extended for editing?

I don't think AVCHD formats like M2TS files are supported, out of the box anyway. I know Sony Creative's apps like Vegas and Vegas Movie Studio can open them natively since it's their format to begin with.

How to use photoshop tutorials

I'm an amature trying to learn a bit about photography. I read magazines etc, experiment and in general try to improve and learn skills. However quite often one comes across a photoshop tutorial that shows how to do something. Sometimes its easy to follow along with aperture and other times its not.
Does anyone know if there is a "cheatsheet" out there that explains photoshop tools and their aperture equivalent (at least when there is one). On instance would "clarity" - i've not been able to figure out if aperture has a similar function.
Anyway, would be great if there was somewhere one could get feedback on apertures equivalent for some photoshop commands.

Clarity's closest analogue is Aperture's 'definition' slider. There is no ability for definition to go negative like clarity can, though (the effects are strange).
There's really no true mapping between Photoshop and Aperture. More between Lightroom and Aperture.
So I'd suggest you get a book on Aperture, if that's what you're using to do your photo editing and enhancement.

How to use a table to fill an array

I have a cFP 2110 with a couple of relay modules I'm using to automate a process. I'm using an array of a cluster of elements to turn the relays on and off with a time delay for each step. This was the first version I started with and I have since built a state machine around. What I would like to do is add a table or array to the front pannel and move the relay control and time delay to the front panel and allow the user to specify which relays are on or off and for how long. I also want to allow the user to save the table and have the option to select other saved versions of the table to operate the module with different. I also need to add a string control to the table so I will need to use shared variables for to communicate between the target Vi and the host vi the user is working from. Is a table the correct approach to do this? I have never used the table functions. How do I go about building a table and sending the data to an array? Do I need to send the table contents to file OI first, then have the array read the specified file?

Hi Danny,
Instead of using a constant array on your block diagram, you could use a control array so that the elements show up on the front panel. Then your user will have the ability to change the relays and time delay. You can then use Datalog files (see Help >> Find Examples... and search Datalog) to save individual clusters. Otherwise if you want to save entire arrays, you could just save them to a binary file.
Using the array of controls eliminates the need for a table and its conversion, and also provides a front panel interface for your user to control. Does the string control need to be part of these array as well, or can it be separate?
If you are reading a file back to be used with your program, you will need to read the file to get its contents before using it to control your loop.
