How to use purchased music from itunes as ringtone
Trying to use music from my songs as ringtones, could do it on 4 don't know how to do it on 5s. Does anyone know? Please help..
If you are using the latest version of iTunes (4.6), then you need to make sure your ipod software is up to date also.
When you have done this, authorize your music in iTunes by playing a few seconds of it, and it should transfer by whatever synching method you choose.
Get the latest updates here.
If you have done all this and still can't transfer it, post back with more info about what is happening.

You can't - the Terms of Use of the stores state that you can only buy from the country that you are in (e.g. due to licensing/distribution terms etc)

Since the item <Topic: How to transfer purchased music from iTunes> is "locked" (whatever that means - typically, I got an error message when I clicked on the link!!) - I would like to state that despite downloading the iPod updater to deal with this problem, I cannot update my iPod because "the updater does not have a firmware image". I deeply resent not being able to move 100 tracks I have bought and paid for with my hard-earned money to my iPod. I trust that Apple will sort out this mess forthwith.
I have now solved this problem (almost by accident...).
Unfortunately, before you can update the iPod software on the older iPods you have to first do a Restore Factory Settings from the iPod updater (otherwise "updater cannot find firmware image'). Let the 'Restore' process run right through (it ends when the iPod fully reboots). You can then run the iPod software updater to Update from iPod 2.2 to 2.3 software, but afterwards you have to recopy all your songs from iTunes into the now empty iPod. I reloaded my iPod last night, and it took about 20-30mins using firewire for c.2400 songs. It worked for me, anyway. And the interface with iTunes is an improvement. Could have done without all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, though. Thank you, Apple. -
IPhoto quits when using purchased music from iTunes!
I am trying to put together a slideshow for a funeral tomorrow. I have created the slideshow and a new playlist in iTunes with the music the people want. However, if I use songs I have loaded on my mac from cd everything works great, if I attempt to use songs purchased through iTunes, iPhoto quits unexpectedly....shoot me in the face now! Please help......
Run Software Update to make sure you have the lastest version of Quicktime.
How are you going to show this slideshow? You know that you won't be able to burn it to disk if you use Protected Music?

Using Purchased Music from iTunes in a published slideshow
I made a slideshow on iPhoto and added a iTunes song I purchased from Apple's iTunes store. I then, published this show on my .Mac homepage, but when my family attempted to view it, they were prompted to submit a password to listen to the music. Does anyone have ideas about how to get around this issue? If this is the use policy, why would I continue to purchase music on Apple's iTunes Store if I can use it for my personal purposes.

That's the deal between Apple and the right holders.
The workaround is to burn purchased tracks on Audio CD and re-import them.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can use different ID's for iTunes and iCloud.
Just delete the account in settings > iCloud and create them their own account.
if the children are minors, you wiil need to create and be responsible for each account yourself. -
I had my Iphone in sync with iTunes in my desktop PC. I had purchased musics from iTunes Store and musics I did transfer from original CDs (legacy ones). I no longer have my CDs once I did donate it to a public library. How can I recover my whole music assests on Iphone to my iTunes in my notebook PC ? At this time I only know how to transfer Apple Store purchased items.
iTunes will only import music purchased from the iTunes store. If you need to import music to iTunes from your phone that wasn't purchased from iTunes you will need to use 3rd party software to do so, such as Touch Copy.

Thanks. I know how to do that, however, I thought it only works with the imported content not the purchased ones. The reason for wanting this was that I keep all my music in NAS drive for SONOS (the wireless music system) will need the music to be in NAS so that it can play music while the mac is on sleep mode.
Anyhow, I will try again and let you know if it does work.

My AppleTV only allows me to play purchased music from iTunes. I have an extensive library that I burned from CD's that I am pulling my hair out to figure out how to play them. Is this possible? If so, how? Thanks
Your music library needs to be in iTunes on a Mac or PC. In iTunes enable Home Sharing and you should see your music library and playlists on the Apple TV. Both the computer and ATV have to be on the same WiFi network.
