How to use RAID 0 on Qosmio x300-11w?

Hi,
I have a Qosmio x300-11w with 2 320GB HDD and I would like to use them in RAID 0 for a bit more speed, I cant see any RAID options in BIOS. Is there another way to enable it?
My BIOS version up to date version 1-30 I think.
Anyone know if it is possible with this system?
Thanks in advance

Hello Teit
If notebook has such option it is described in users manuals but according to this document for your X300 (PQX32E) RAID is not available. Not a word about it is there.

  • How to reformat Qosmio X300-11W to factory settings?

    Hi guys!
My dad has had some issues with his laptop and so took it into a repair centre which uploaded Windows 7 professional over the top of the original VIsta set up to "upgrade" it. The problems have recently come back and progressed into worse issues and so a recently qualified computer tech friend put windows 7 home edition over the top of the professional system.
The problems dont seem to be going anywhere. The question we have it does anyone know if its possible to reset the laptop to the original Vista OS with everything wiped without a recovery disk and if so how to do it?
We have tried various key combinations to try and start the reformatting program but nothing seems to be working and so I thought perhaps its 'confused' as there are 3 systems hiding on it?
As far as I am aware the spec is:
    Toshiba Qosmio X300-11w.
    original OS - Vista
    Overwritten with Windows 7 professional
Overwritten again with Windows 7 home edition
eerrmm... Im not sure what else might be needed so feel free to let me know if something is missing. :D
Thanks in advance and sorry for the longish post.
    Kenni

Your dad is right. This notebook model was delivered without recovery disc but in users manuals document is clearly described that recovery disc must be created by notebook owner using preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator tool.
What you can do now is to order original recovery disc on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx
If you want to have original factory settings you must use this disc or install own OS version using Microsoft installation disc. Please note: after using original Microsoft disc you must buy activations code.

  • RAID 0 on Qosmio X300-13O

I have got Qosmio x300-13O and I would like to make raid 0, but in BIOS aren't any options to make raid.
    How I can do that?

    Hi
I think this depends on software but I think you will need to install firstly the OS and then the RAID software and then you could make some changes.
I searched also for some tips and someone posted this:
Go to disk management (My computer -> right click -> Manage)
There you will see both HDD. Click right on the square where disk 0 and disk 1 is listed and convert in dynamical data medium.
Then you can build a RAID with both HDDs.

  • How-to: Installing Windows XP on Qosmio X300

Admins: please review this content, and make this topic sticky.
I decided to try out Windows XP on my Qosmio X300-130 laptop, that came with Windows Vista 32-bit pre-installed.
I bought XP Pro license + disc.
    Part A: Installation
    ===============
    1. Go to Intel website and download "Intel RST" drivers -- those are required to recognize the SATA disk. Unfortunately Qosmio X300 does not provide IDE emulation in it's BIOS.
    2. Download "nLite"
    3. Start "nLite" and choose option to slipstream the drivers, and choose to integrate Intel RST drivers, and create ISO. Burn the ISO on a CD-R.
    4. The new CD disc should be installable on our hardware
    Part B: Video
    ===========
Unfortunately, Toshiba modified GeForce used in the laptop, so standard NVIDIA drivers won't install on Windows. (they do install on Linux BTW)
PCI (and PCI express) code is made of several parts:
    -VENDOR ID (NVIDIA, main vendor)
-DEVICE ID (chip used, GeForce 9700 GTS in my case)
-SUB SYSTEM ID (Toshiba, secondary vendor)
After you installed fresh XP, go to device manager, and see devices under yellow question mark. (devices that Windows can't recognize)
Click on VGA (it is our GeForce) --> Details --> Device instance ID.
You need to search original NVIDIA driver for your DEVICE ID (that is, so it matches the chip in your laptop exactly, DEV_062A for me).
I had to change one single file from original NVIDIA driver:
    nvts.inf
    %NVIDIA_DEV.062A.01% = Section004, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_062A&SUBSYS_00011179
    -->
    %NVIDIA_DEV.062A.01% = Section004, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_062A&SUBSYS_FF011179
    Part C: Network & Audio
    ===================
    You need few drivers:
    -Intel WiFi 5100 drivers
    -Realtek PCI-E Gigabit drivers
    -Realtek HD Audio drivers
    -Technologov, 19.01.2011

    Very nice posting!
Thanks dude for this! I think it could be interesting for others!

  • Qosmio X300-11W: Need an CD/DVD-RW Part Number?

    Hi all,
I am currently refurbishing a X300-11W and I need to know the optical drive part number to find a replacement.
Any ideas? Or know where I can buy a cheap replacement in the uk?
    Thanks!

    Hi
As far as I know you can find an list of compatible ODDs in the Qosmio X300 user manual.
    Did you check it?
Furthermore you can order all compatible parts from an Toshiba ASP (authorized service provider) available in your country.

  • Qosmio X300-11W - HDD Capacity and RPM

    Hi all,
    Quick question.
What is max HDD capacity and RPM for x300-11w
I wish to change my hdd but don't want to make mistake.
    Thanks

Virtually all modern SATA based laptops can take any size HDD. The previous limitation was LBA48, which was limited to 137GB. The next limit is something like 8 Exabytes.
The two things you need to be aware of is:
    1) Rotational speed. 7200RPM drives will work in any laptop, but they get hotter than 5400RPM drives. The X300 is a large machine, so a 7200RPM drive will be fine. If it was a compact portable laptop such as a Portege, 7200RPM may not be a good idea, unless the drive is generally a cool running drive.
    2) Physical size. Some HDD's can be 12mm or higher - especially if they are of large capacity. Measure the original drive, and ensure the new drive has the same height.

  • Qosmio X300-11W - SLI graphic cards in future

    Hi,
Im thinking about this laptop. I want it as a replacement of desktop. It seems to be very very good but I have a question.
There is now 9800GTX - does any one of you know if would be available to buy another SAME card to make it SLI?
Also - speed of HDD. It doesnt say what speed is it. 5400 or 7200.
Is there even some one who has some experiences with this laptop or do you know some websites which says something more about this one.
    Thanks

    Hi
The X300 series is new on the market so I didnt find many sources which provide detailed infos about this notebook but I found some details. Thanks to google and to the Toshiba User Manual website (you can find it on the Toshiba European support homage) ;)
    > Also - speed of HDD. It doesnt say what speed is it. 5400 or 7200.
There are 2 HDD installed and both seems to work with 5400rpm
I didnt find any details regarding the SLI option and about the possibility to upgrade the notebook with the second GPU chip but I doubt this would be possible.

  • Re: Qosmio X300 - "Wrong serial number" if I install hardware setup

    Hi!
My computer is Qosmio X300-11W. I've jist installed a new Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit.
I installed all drivers from the list wich I recieved from Toshiba's technical support. But the problem came up when I tried to install "Hardware Setup", I've got a message "Wrong serial number". I can't understand which serial number is wrong.

    Hi
As far as I know this error message appears if your mainboard was exchanged from an authorized service provider and they did forget to set the correct serial number.
So I think you should contact the nearest authorized service provider. The technicians can try to help you.
Here you can search for an ASP:

  • Qosmio X300 - This system cannot use Toshiba Accessibility

I've succeeded to install all Qosmio X300 drivers on Windows 7 64-bit. Everything's working fine exept this one: "Toshiba Accessibility". When I click on an "Access" key I receive this error message:
"This system cannot use Toshiba Accessibility"
Why do I receive this and what is this function?

Yes, I have installed Toshiba Value Added Package and reinstalled it different times. Furthermore if this Pachage wouldn't be installed, there would no be any "FN Access" key to click on!
Just when I click this button I receive this strange message! I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Even FN key itself stopped working. Won't show it's FN functions on display.
Even after reinstallation of Value Added Package I receive the error message and FN doesn't work!
Did someone encounter this kind of problem? I don't know what's going on, how to solve this?

  • Qosmio F50-125 - How to use TV-FM Tuner in Windows 7

    Hello,
I am using Qosmio F50-125 and I just upgraded to Windows 7.
I just now found out that I have a TV tuner on my notebook and I dont know how to use it.
First I dont have drivers for my TV tuner and tried to download something like TV-tuner driver v.2.3.3.31 from the toshiba website, but there is not a typical setup.exe but just some files inside.
If you could tell me a bit more about how to use my TV option and how to install the proper drivers I would be truly grateful.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi mate,
Friend of me has also Qosmio F50 with TV Tuner and Windows 7 now. As far as I know the posted instructions from the other users are correct.
First you have to extract all files. Then go in device manager and right click on the TV card (I think its marked with yellow exclamation mark). If you right click choose Update Driver and in next windows choose the advanced installation (second point). Now you have to choose the driver directory yourself and navigate to the folder where you have extracted the files. Click on OK, Next, etc. and the driver should be installed properly.
Maybe you to restart the notebook but this shouldnt be a problem! ;)
If you have more questions, please let us know! If you need more assistance I can ask my friend again for further details.

  • How to setup x2 sata W/D Raptor drives not using raid

    Hi all,
I am new to this forum so please be kind.
I have just got myself this NE02 board along with 2 W/D Raptor SATA Hard Drives.
I have seem many instructions in these groups about how to configure sata drives using a raid configuration.
What I am looking to do is basically install 2 Raptor SATA drives not using raid,
And also have 2 ide cdrom drives.
Can someone please come back with a nice simple if that can be done! configuration on how i can best achive this.
Many thanks for all your help.
    Silent2004

In bios under Integrated Peripherals, On Chip ATA Operating Mode set
    Native Mode
    ATA Configuration - SATA only
    SATA Keep enabled - yes
    PATA Keep enabled - yes
    PATA channel selection - both
Configure SATA as Raid - no
Read the raid thread at the top anyway, as you may want to install the drivers during the XP install in case you change your mind later.
Also, during your Windows installation, just connect a single SATA drive untill you are up and running.

  • How to use rescuecd to access NAS200 RAID drives

I have been lurking trying to figure out how to access my NAS200 drives after a power supply failure and of course I have no backups, relying on the RAID to create my two copies.  (Lesson learned)
I have a NAS200, with two Western Digital 1TB Green hard drives.  They are configured in a RAID 1 mirror and they are in a journaled file system
So from what I've been reading, I believe they are in XFS. and I can use the rescuecd iso to access the drive directly to copy them off onto another drive.
I am using Windows XP SP3.   The computer system is 8 years old - a Dell Pentium 4 Dimension system with 4GB of memory.   I do have Ubuntu, but I have no idea how to use Linux, and definitely not the command line that the rescuesystemcd drops me into.
I've taken one of the drives and installed it in an external USB drive and plugged it in the system.
In Windows XP SP3, I can see the drive on my virtual file manager and I can see the three partitions, one main data partition, the configuration partition and the swap partition, but of course it's not the right file system. and it's not ext2/ext3  so Ext2IFS will not work for me from what I've read.
In ubuntu 11.10, when I've plugged in the external drive, I have no idea how to access the drive.   I suspect I have to mount it, but I have no idea how to do it or even where to begin looking for it to access it.
And of course in the CLI using the systemrescuecd, I am completely lost there:   The last CLI I used was MS-DOS from over 15-18 years ago.   I can ls (MS-DOS dir) and cd to navigate the folders of the file system and I believe cp is copy? and if I was using the Ubuntu CLI, I have to sudo everything I believe.
So after this long post, what am I asking for?
     - How do I mount the external drive in either Ubuntu or the system rescue CD iso.
     - Can I mount a second external drive with a NTFS file system in Ubuntu or the system rescue CD?
     - I would prefer to do it in Ubuntu or some other graphical method so that I could just drag and drop from one disk onto another or failing that using the commandline, what command would copy the entire drive's file system from one to another?
    Thanx

Are you able to access the web interface of NAS200 using its IP address? If, 'yes' then unplug both the hard drives? Reset NAS200, reconfigure it and connect the drives again. See if that helps.
