How to use second display as primary display?

Mac (20-inch Late 2006) 10.4 seems to have burned out its LCD screen (at least I think it did). The screen is dark but not 100% black. In any case, I cannot see anything on the screen.
I plugged in a second monitor and the second monitor shows my background image, but in extended desktop mode.
Is there a way to make it the primary monitor when I can't see any menu or dock items? I guess that is called mirror?
I have tried F7 and cmd-F1 and resetting the PRAM did not help.

Thanks to both posters for suggestions. Resetting the PRAM didn't work. Turning on voice over was useful and I was able to login with some guess work (of course, I had to remember which of 5 accounts I was defaulted to, but that only took a few tries). Once logged in, the dock was on attached monitor because I keep it on the right side. Not sure what would have happened if I had it at the bottom. Of course all windows opened on the imac monitor so I had to remember that I could get the system preferences to show me its options by command clicking on the doc icon. From there it was relatively easy to turn mirroring on once I could see the dialog box. Shutting down and rebooting into other accounts has kept the mirroring on. Now the only down side is that instead of looking at an imac, I have to look a few inches in front of it at an ugly Dell monitor. But at least I can keep the folks who use this computer working! thanks again.

Using second screen as main display? (I have no main screen)

Hi,
I have a 15" PowerBook 1.25 which has no screen (my mate dropped it, off it came), its out of warrenty and replacing the screen's gonna cost £800... I have a proview 15" screen which is plugged in to the 2nd screen output. How do I get the powerbook to default to this screen as its still going to the (non-existent) 1st screen? Is there a key command? All im getting is a blue screen! I need to know as I'm trying to upgrade it to 10.4. (currently 10.3)

This can be rather tricky without a functioning PowerBook display given you cannot actually tell Mac OS X to ignore the display. It very much assumes you have a functioning primary display.
Now, if you have another PowerBook with which to boot your PowerBook from (via FireWire Target Disk mode) then I think it is possible to get it to default to the external display. If you connect your display to the other PowerBook, connect and start your PowerBook in FW target Disk mode. Then boot the other PowerBook from your hard drive by holding down the Option key and selecting your drive.
Once started, open the Displays System Preference and set the external display as the primary display by dragging the Menu Bar to it in the Arrangement tab.
Shutdown, disconnect your PowerBook and connect the external display back to your PowerBook and see what happens. Hopefully it will default to the external display.

I have a MacBook Pro. Is there a finest way to use my MacBook Screen to display the contents from the another Computer's (or) Projector's "VGA Output" please?
And by using some particular capture device and cables, will the port on MacBook be:
- through USB?
- through Thunder Bolt?

How to use Essbase @RETURN function to displayed messages in 11.1.2.1

I found Business Rule support Essbase @RETURN function in Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1 new feature.
If I create a simple BR for planning app as below:

The validation returns error and BR can not be deployed.
Does any one how to use @RETURN function in BR?

How to use adifferent Show form to display a document created by XML forms

Hi,
I have created some XML documents using an XML form.
The XML form contains two Show forms, Show & Show2. The default is Show. When I view the XML document via a KM Docs iView the default Show form is used to display the resource.
If I wish to display the XML document using a KM Docs iView, but using the Show2 (non-default) form how is this done?
I have created Layout Sets for each of the different ways to display the XML forms, but there is no option to choose Layout Set in the KM Docs iView config.

hey guys, right now i'm using a mac mini and also another Windows PC tower. whenever i want to switch between them i need to re-plug in my headphones/keyboard/mouse/display and this is getting annoying. i've been using a usb hub for the mouse and keyboard so it's not as difficult to setup. is there anything out there that'll allow me to switch between them more easily?

How to use custom label formats to display currency and percentage

I need a pie chart to display both currency and percentage. I have the cell format editor open for custom cell formats (from the pie chart label format menu) but am not sure how to write the expression.
I've tried something like this but get an error:

labels built into Keynote can be displayed as percentage or value, not both
The choice is made in: Inspector > chart > series > data point settings
the work around is to manually add text boxes with the currancy value entered in each box, as in $2.00

After TWO long years I am back in Apple Family.. I am loving it.
I tried Android Galaxy S3 for TWO long years and I feel really good to come back in Apple Family again.
I don't think so I or anyone from my family will ever go to Android.
I have a quick question for all the Apple Family members.
I have an Apple ID on abc@old_domain.com this ID I am no longer using it and I want to use my new ID which is abc@new_domain.com.
But I DO NOT want to create NEW Apple ID. Because I want to make use of my PAID apps which I bought with abc@old_domain.com APPLE ID two years back.
How can I do that ?

As the long as that email address isn't currently being used as the primary email address on an account (and it's not an alternate or rescue email address on the old account that you want to use it on), then you should be able to put it as your primary email address by logging into the old iTunes account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or by logging into the account via http://appleid.apple.com
Changing your primary email address : Change your Apple ID.
Changing the primary email address on an account should not affect any of the account's purchases, as long as the apps are still in the store (and you haven't changed countries since buying them) then you should be able to redownload the via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes, and the Purchased tab in the App Store app on an iOS device.

How to use second monitor as extended monitor

Want to use a second monitor at MacbookAir 11. I get the mirror to work and I know resolution is unfortunately not the same, but I wanted to use the two as one extended monitor. I cannot move or extend any window to cover both. Any advises how to get to that?

You should be able to drag the application off the right side of your monitor and it appear on the TV. You can size and position as desired.
Check System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement tab for the placement of the external monitor. It normally defaults to the right side but could be above/below or left of your primary.

wrap a view around your table with this bogus primary key. Use an instead of trigger to handle the inserts and updates. And then look at using surrogate keys to resolve these bad design issues...

Since the CustomerID is the primary key (surrogate key) and the usual practice is to hide the surrogate keys in client tools. It is the best practice to set the AttributeHierarchyOptimizedState to NotOptimized to CustomerID attribute. As specified
in the article SSAS will not create Bitmap indexes on top of that attribute and it saves a lot of processing time and decreases the cube size.

G4 PB lost primary display with Sharp PG-B10S projector on extended mode

About a week ago, for no apparent reason, when I plug into my projector in dual screen mode (through the DVI VGA adaptor), my primary screen switches to the projector and the secondary (extended) screen pops up on the internal pb lcd display.
Whatever signal is being sent to the projector in that moment is registered as "not reg." (not regular? not registering?) by the projector. When I switch back to "mirroring", it recognizes the projector, and pops the mirrored display image up onto the wall in short order. When I drop into no mirroring again, it goes back to the same problem.
You might think I could just arrange the screens on the arrangement tab in display prefences. Well, as the primary screen (in extended mode) is the default screen where the display prefences (complete with "arrangement" tab) pops up, and as it is at that moment "not reg." on the projector, I have NO WAY of accessing that dialog box (yes, I even tried some "lucky grabs" to see what I might "fish" off the invisible primary desktop. I nabbed several icons and brought them "home" to my internal display, but no luck on grabbing the display preferences dialog box header.
When I am in "mirror on" mode, the arrangement tab, as you already know, does not give you the option to change.
Tried a second monitor coming off the vga out from the projector, and it also gives me a not reg. when in extended mode.
Tried S-Video out to projector, and it keeps PB internal display as primary display. Tried second monitor direct DVI and through the DVI VGA adaptor, and it also works fine. After getting it working fine on the external monitor, I can then "switch in" the projector and it works properly, convinced the projector is the second monitor. Reboot or close the lid, however, and the computer seems to say, "Oh, you again, eh?" and then goes into conflict.
Are there any keyboard shortcuts or drop down menu options for making the change in some other way than the gui way?
