How to use SIS to configure an eMac lab

Looking for any article #'s or web pages that can give me a crash course on using Apples System Imaging Service to install 24 new eMac computers into a lab running on an XServe G5 1U server running Server 10.4 Previous lab CPU's were Bondi blue iMacs w/o firewire, so firewire target disk mode was never an option. It is now. The old iMacs proofed less than adequate when running OS X 10.2 so the lab is moving to eMacs at 10.4
I need to install Mavis Beacon, Kid Pix and ARD on each eMac, and figure creating an Install image is the way to go, but have never done this before. Any useful articles that I can read would be appreicated. Thank you.

I use Mike Bombichs carbon copy cloner and netrestore software. I just checked his website at www.bombich.com and it is down but I believe you can get both of them off of versiontracker.com. I have used both ways and bombichs is a little slower but I have had far less problems and manage a high school of 700 computers pretty easily..When his website is up there are great resources on using his software

  • How to use custom component configuration

    Hi Experts,
    For a standard webdynpro object I have created a new z component configuration by copying from existing one. In the standard there are already 2 existing component configuration.
    This webdynpro does not have any application created so I am not able to directly assign this component configuration.
    During run time in portal when I view the properties I can see a application for this webdynpro component and the standard component configuration being used.
    My question is how to use the z component configuration I have created in the webdynpro?

    Hi Srinivas
    I researched your problem. I hope the below code helps you. You could add the below code to wddoinit.
    DATA:  lo_api_controller       TYPE REF TO if_wd_component,
              lo_pers_manager      TYPE REF TO if_wd_personalization,
              ls_config_key           TYPE wdy_config_key.
               lo_api_controller = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
               lo_pers_manager = lo_api_controller->get_personalization_manager( ).
                     ls_config_key-config_id = 'ZTEST' .
                     lo_pers_manager->load_config_by_key( ls_config_key ).

  • ID: How to use the test Configuration tool

    Hi all,
           I have done one simple file2file scenario and it is working fine( source file is reaching the destination).
          By using this scenario, i would like to know the use of test configuration.( which is in Integration Directory).
    I have given the input parameters what it has asked.
    Header details:-
    sender service,sender message interface and namespace.
    payload:-
    xml format( taken from message mapping)
    log result:-
    Sender Agreement
    Internal Error
    HTTP connection to ABAP Runtime failed. Error: 403 Forbidden URL: http://xxxxx:8000/sap/xi/simulation?sap-client=000 User: XIDIRUSER
    Please help me how to work with this tool.
    Regards,
    Deviprasad.

    hi deviprasad...even i face the same problem whenever i tried using test configuration tool...
    i think it means...its trying to make a connection :  HTTP connection to ABAP Runtime ......which fails due to lack of proper authorization...
    if u login to ur integration builder with a user having the proper authoriztion(i dont know exactly)...u can do the test..... coz during the test there is a connection between java and abap stack...
    pls rectify me and convey me if u get the proper answer....or if i m wrong..
    pls try to do use the test after login to IB through a user with maximum authorization....

  • How to use the Dynamic Configuration Bean

    Hi experts,
    im currently doing a file to mail scenario.
    i want the name of the input file as the subject of the mail.
    i want to establish this using the Dynamic Configuration bean
    my first question is:
    key.1 <b>read</b> http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail THeaderSUBJECT
    value.1 message.messageID
    this reads the value of the message ID into the attribute THeaderSUBJECT
    but what does this do?
    key.1 <b>write</b> http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/Mail THeaderSUBJECT
    value.1 message.messageID
    when i use this it has no effect atall.
    my second question.
    I have my input filename in the FileName attribute in Dynamic configuration how can i read it into THeaderSUBJECT attribute.
    Appreciate any suggestions.

    Hi Satish,
    Yep i know its possible via an udf in Message mapping but i dont have an MM in my scenario. Since im not parsing thru the input data since its an excel file, so im transferring the file using the following method
    /people/william.li/blog/2006/09/08/how-to-send-any-data-even-binary-through-xi-without-using-the-integration-repository
    and in this method if i include an MM it will give me a mapping exception.
    So i have to use this bean somehow and try to accomplish what we do in the udf.

  • How to use my MAC configurated iPod whith my work PC

    I have an ibook at home, with an extensive iTunes library, which is configurated with my color screen iPod. At work I use my iPod to interview people and the problem is that we use PC/Windows at work... and I cant upload my memos/interviews on my work PC directly, but have to upload them on my iBook and them e-mail it to my work... not nice at all.
    How can configurate my iPod to be able to talk both MAC and Windows???
    Please enlight me! I'm most greatfull for all suggestions.

    An iPod formatted for Mac won't run natively on a PC because the Windows OS does not support the HFS Plus file system and therefore will not see the drive. You can reformat your iPod on Windows if you want to use it on both platforms as Macs can read Windows formatting (I have seen posts where Windows iPods have been reported as not connecting but these tend to be the exception to the rule). Alternatively there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows, this is one for instance: XPlay 2

  • How to use wlst to configure access policies for JMS ?

    Hello,
    I am trying to set access policies for a JMS unified queue. It can be done easily with the console, but I could not find how to do it with wlst with version 10.0 !
    I've found the following olds posts on this topic:
    1. WLST Script for Protecting a JMS: WLST Script for Protecting a JMS Resource.
    and
    2. Create a JMX Policy by script: Create a JMX Policy by script
    I could not find the "resourceId" string as stated in first link for Weblogic 8.1 SP6.
    And following second link, is not working after a stop/restart of weblogic servers. :-(
    Do you know a way to configure an access policy for a JMS queue with wlst tool ?
    I have also tried using configToScript() command to retrieve security policy information from what has been done on the console, but I was unable to find such information ! Is security saved by configToScript() ?

    Editing links.

    Add configToScript information.

    Security data is not persisted in config.xml so it is not contained in the output from a configToScript command.
    You may want to ask in the WebLogic Server - Security forum.

  • How to Use JMx to configure an application

    Hi,
    I'm newbie in JMX...
    I'd like to know if I miss something about JMX and configuration.
    I've a J2EE application with a configuration file (.xml) in the WEB-INF directory for example. At startup the configuration is loaded.
    I'd like to write an MBean to access and change the configuration (for example log level, etc.). At the end I'd like to write configuration changes to the file.
    So is it possible? How? If not, it means I have to redo configuration changes each times the application is restarted?
    Thanks

    amonn,
    thanks for your answer. So, you think that it's possible to change a configuration file at runtime which is located in the .war WEB-INF directory?I think you are confusing something. The xml files are usually only read at start up and initialize the MBeans that represent the configuration of the application. You can either change the xml files before starting the application to have a different initial configuration or access the MBeans at runtime (i.e. when the application is already up and running) and change some settings in the life system. Changing the xml files while the app is running would usually not change the configuration of the running system (except if that system actively polled the xml files for changes).

  • Need Dynamic attributes for XI adapter to use in Dynamic Configuration ..!!

    Hi Friends,
    We are planning send message to different receivers through XI adapter by using Dynamic Configuration.
    Can anyone please tell me what are the dynamic attributes used for XI adapter.
    In my scenario, I want to pass the Service Number and Path prefix of XI adpater dynamically by using sender ID from Idoc payload.
    I know how to use the dynamic configuration UDF in message mapping. But I don't know the dynamic attributes which we can pass to Service Number and Path prefix of XI adpater.
    Kindly suggest ..
    Thanks
    Deepthi.

    Hi Sourabh,
    >> You need to set these attributes explicitly in the adapter configuration..
    Can you please elaborate on this like how to implement this? Do we need to use any module configuration in the adapter?
    We will use XI adapter only while sending the data directly from IE without using any feautures of AE (like adapters, modules etc). It is like directly sending data from ABAP stack without using J2EE stack. That is the reason we can't use any Modules in XI adpater and it is in disabled by default.
    When I checked in SXMB_MONI.. as you said details are found in
    - <SAP:Attribute>
      <SAP:Name>host</SAP:Name>
      <SAP:Value>10.190.25.16</SAP:Value>
      </SAP:Attribute>
    - <SAP:Attribute>
      <SAP:Name>httpDestination</SAP:Name>
      <SAP:Value />
      </SAP:Attribute>
    - <SAP:Attribute>
      <SAP:Name>path</SAP:Name>
      <SAP:Value>/rcvA/receiver</SAP:Value>
      </SAP:Attribute>
    - <SAP:Attribute>
      <SAP:Name>port</SAP:Name>
      <SAP:Value>8210</SAP:Value>
      </SAP:Attribute>
    XI adapter uses mainly three parameters Host, Port and Path.
    I want to pass any two of these values dynamically to achieve my solution. Can you please suggest your solution how we can implement it.

  • How to use an install.xpi configuration file to set up email data

    Manual setup of my email account failed because Thunderbird searches for my domain name and it is not in its database. So my host provider gave me an auto-config file for Thunderbird for my email account, called install.xpi - But how do I use this file? I can't double-click on it in Windows to do anything. In Thunderbird program it wants to create a new account but I can't do anything else in it like file import.
    How to use install.xpi file so it creates my email account with the proper setup variables? Thanks for your help.

    Start Thunderbird, close the wizard, goto the Tools menu (alt+T) select add-ons
    There's a tiny button to the left of the search window. Click this and select Install Add-on From File and Navigate to your xpi file, select it, and off you go.
