How to use SNMP on WRT160Nv2?

Hello,
I would like to do some monitoring tests related to ISP DSL traffic calculations. I suspect it in false traffic calculations.
I would like to know if my WRT160Nv2 supports SNMP and how to access it (SNMP Community String etc.)?
Thank you,
Alexei Cornea

Hello,
Unfortunately I can't use the solution that you suggested.
My Router is doing the PPPoE connection. "Internet" interface is connected to an ADSL Modem that is configured in Bridge mode. Linksys Router's IP is 192.168.0.1/32. Modem's IP address is 192.168.1.254/32. There's no possibility to access this IP from PCs (DHCP 192.168.0.0/28). On Linksys WRT160N it's not possible to route 192.168.1.254/32 to the "Internet" Interface because Linksys router itself don't have an IP from 192.168.1.0/24 and it is receiving it's public/internet ip through PPPoE protocol.
I have connections by LAN on all 4 ports and a few Wireless connections. All devices are doing downloading/uploading.
Unfortunately I can use only the Linksys router as a PPPoE initiator. But, I really need to monitor all the traffic that is passing through "Internet" interface. Developing a new firmware that will support SNMP could be the best solution that Linksys Company can provide.
Please help me with a solution.
Best regards,
Alexei Cornea

  • How to use SNMP Agent

    Hi All,
Can anybody tell me how to use SNMP Agent to monitor the Access and Identity Servers

    Hi Ramesh,
I cannot comment on WebLogic & SNMP - this kind of questions would
probably need to be asked on a WebLogic forum.
If you're looking for an SNMP Manager API though, you may want to have a
look at the Java Dynamic Management Kit (commercial product,
    free evaluation):

    Hope this helps,

  • How to use SNMP??

As a j2ee developer , how to use SNMP in our code? it is developer work? or is it administrator work???
    thanks

You have to enable snmp manager process to be able to poll your device from IOS itself.
To enable snmp manager enter global config command snmp-server manager.
The SNMP manager process sends SNMP requests to agents and receives SNMP responses and notifications from agents. When the SNMP manager process is enabled, the router can query other SNMP agents and process incoming SNMP traps.
Most network security policies assume that routers will be accepting SNMP requests, sending SNMP responses, and sending SNMP notifications. With the SNMP manager functionality enabled, the router may also be sending SNMP requests, receiving SNMP responses, and receiving SNMP notifications. The security policy implementation may need to be updated prior to enabling this functionality.
SNMP requests are typically sent to UDP port 161. SNMP responses are typically sent from UDP port 161. SNMP notifications are typically sent to UDP port 162.
    Examples
The following example shows how to enable the SNMP manager process:
     Router(config)# snmp-server manager

  • How to use SNMP to access interface counters for WAN port when not in bridged mode

    Hi All,
Can't fault my timecapsule, however just struggling to get one little bit of functionality working.  I'm keen to get access to the WAN port interface counter information via SNMP, so I can track total bandwidth/throughput & also volume.
I have no issue getting SNMP to work & can see the 2.4 & 5.0GHz network counters, also total number of WIFI clients, wlan0, wlan1 and bridge0 interfaces.  Trouble is none of these are the WAN/external ethernet port.
I see that it is likely that I'm trying to find the vlan1 port, however from what I'm reading this may only be available when the device is running in a routed mode (I'm running in bridge mode).
    Anyone able to suggest anything?

Some cable modem you can turn off NAT.. and then use the TC in router mode.. or even use DMZ if the cable router allows that.
Have you ever looked at gargoyle router firmware and its ability to count and quota all clients connecting to internet service.. it is a simply fantastic firmware and can be loaded onto a router that costs $70-130 dollars.. it is 3rd party but very solid if you choose the right combo.

  • Use SNMP to monitor the power supply status of stacked switches

Does anybody know how to use SNMP to monitor the status of the internal power supplies of a group of stacked Cisco 3750 switches?
The switch stack has three 3750-48PS-E switches inter-connected by Cisco StackWise cable. IOS ver 12.1(19)EAlc. A single IP address is used to identify the switch stack. Every time I poll the OID chassisPs1Status (1.3.6.1.4.1.9.5.1.2.4.0 in CISCO-STACK-MIB), I only got the status for the Master switch of the switch stack. Is there any way to poll the power supply status of other switches in the switch stack?
    Thanks a lot!

Sorry to refresh such an old topic - but I am stuck with exactly this: Monitoring power supplies of a stacked Cisco Catalyst 3750-E.
I'm using the exact same OID's as described, but the problem is, the information shown on the SNMP output is not correct.
This morning, a power supply of the first switch failed and switched to RPS. Here the information I got on SNMP:

    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.4.2060 = INTEGER: 2
As you see, both PS1 (for both switches) are appearing normal. It doesn't even recognize RPS:
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.1059 = STRING: "Sw1, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
    SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.5.1.2.2060 = STRING: "Sw2, PS1 Normal, RPS NotExist"
The first switch's power supply died and now the cable is disconnected. LED's of the power supply are out. And still: The switch happily announces by SNMP it's power supplies are up.
Is this a known bug? If yes, has it been fixed?

  • How to do a SET using SNMP ?

    Hi,
I already ask in the forum Advanced Language Topics
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=4&thread=320674
but I din't receive any answer so I try here maybe some one could help me on this ... ;-)
I find a nice piece of code on Internet to do SNMP request
    http://membres.lycos.fr/ysoun/index.html
    http://membres.lycos.fr/ysoun/sck.zip
It works find to do some GET operations like doing a GET sysDescr (oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0).
But I would like to do a SET operation but I could'nt succeed.
First I do a get on an oid 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.4.0 (sysContact) and I get the value "hello" which is find and I would like to set this value to "good bye".
Well I have to say that I dont know very well the SNMP protocol and I couldnt figure out where to put the value in order to set "Good bye". Off course I have the right community to do that but I just can't figure out how can I do that ...
Any comment ... help ... ideas ... are more than welcome !!!! Or maybe some better SNMP package to do that???
    thanks,
    Emmanuel

    hi ,
do you know  How to configure SNMP on all managed client using SCCM 2012 SP1?

As a side note, I made an interesting discovery last week: the SNMP Service is deprecated in Windows Server 2012. Why would you want to use SNMP on an actual Windows OS though? There are far better ways available to monitor Windows. I'm sure that lines
up with why they deprecated it.

I tried to follow the guidelines on the cisco website but thats all Web interface based, i can only access the switch remotely via CLI.

Hi Rafik, here is a basic snmp v1/v2 configuration
    snmp-server server
snmp-server community test1234 rw view DefaultSuper
This is basically wide open to anyone who knows the password. This should be enough to get you started then you can tweak additional options as you go. Give this a test, see if you can do what you're trying to do then modify this sample to work for your security needs.

    Thank you,
    Andreas

    Hi kehander,
Thanks for the reply. I tried filling a constant path with the Mac-defined path to a data file on the USB disk (ie "DATA2:file1.dat"). This resulted in the same error message.
I then considered that maybe I was misinterpreting the LV error message, and that perhaps I was supposed to address the file using PC-notation (ie. "DATA2\file1.dat"), even though the app is running on a Mac. No joy with this, but I get a different error msg:
"Error 1430 occurred at Open File
    Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW:  The path is empty or relative. You must use an absolute path."
Can you share what your reasoning was for your suggestion... I'm not sure I understand why a constant path would produce different results?

  • How to add vlan virtual interface on a Catalyst Using SNMP

    Hi,
I need some assistance in locating the  mib/variables to allow me to add and remove vlan
virtual interface on Catalyst 3759G. If I understand correctly CISCO-VTP-MIB can not  carry
    out this requirement.
Is there another way of accomplishing  this using SNMP ?
    Thanks,
    Zhou

You cannot add a new interface directly using SNMP.  However, you can use the CISCO-CONFIG-COPY-MIB to copy a config snippet into the running configuration which can create a new VLAN interface.  See http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_configuration_example09186a0080094aa6.shtml for more details.

    hi,
    Thanks for your response.
    Our requirement is as follows.
I want to assign IP address to Switch fro my Java Application. I have implemented  a Telnet Client Code in Java, by which i can configure IP address in switch from my java application.
But my boss said, Telnet is not secure and try using SNMP to do the same.
When I was searching in Internet, I got this page https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12090896/snmp-how-get-list-ip-addresses-and-corresponding-interface-names
The above thread gives object ID to GET IP address of Switch interface. This Object is Read-only.
In the similar way, is there any object, using which I can SET / assign IP address to switch interfaces.
    waiting for your response.
    Thanks in advance :)

  • How to configure SNMP agent for Oracle 10g

    Hello,
I've installed oracle 10g in a Windows 2000 SP4 and I want to monitor database using SNMP.
I've already installed Windows SNMP agent but I haven't any idea how to configure Oracle in order to grant SNMP monitoring.
    What should I do?
Is Oracle database ready to be monitored via SNMP by default?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards,
    Carles

    Hello,
    Thanks for your message.
In fact, I already found this doc in oracle, but it just show executables I have to install and my question can I install these executables.
I've already installed Windows SNMP agent, configured and testedwith disk space checkings, but it doesn't work fine with Oracle.
I launched Oracle Universal Installer and I checked Installed Products, but I haven't found how to install SNMP agents for oracle.
How can I add Oracle Peer Master Agent and Encapsulator to my oracle installation?
    Thanks again for your help.

  • How to configure snmp host in IPM?

Hi!!! I have CiscoWorks 2000 Rwan with IPM. I installed and configure IPM to send snmp traps when the treshold is excedeed. I can see on the graph that it is exceeded but I can not verify that it sending snmp traps.Where to view these traps and how to configure snmp reciver host?
Can I use CW2k syslog analyzer automated action to generate mail when get this trap?
    THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!!!
    Regards
    Enes

    Hi,
As you've discovered, IPM can help configure
    these traps:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/rtrmgmt/ipmcw2k/cipm25/ug/ipmfaq.htm#62205
But, you'll need to specify a dedicated NMS
server to receive these traps. The following
documentation should prove to be useful:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094aa5.shtml
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk648/tk362/technologies_tech_note09186a0080094a05.shtml
You can use the appropriate "debug" command on
the router to confirm that traps are, in fact,
    being sent.
The traps themselves are defined in the
    CISCO-RTTMON-MIB.my and cannot interact
with the CW2000 syslog analyzer automated
    action.
    Thanks,
    Roger
