How to use Standard Search help

Hi Friends,
I want to use the same search help as used in mm03 for Material number. Is that possible?. If so how to do it?.
Quick replies would be rewarded.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Tamilarasan.

The search help used here is MAT1.
It is possible to use the same serch help in your custom program. You can either attach with the field in the table by double clicking on the field name in SE11 or in the screen painter. Double click on the field in the screen painter and under the attribute option (Dict tab) you can find option for giving serach help.

That is not true that this is the only way.  The standard Data Dictory based search help can return more than one value as long as there are multiple exporting values defined in the search help, the search help is attached to a Data Dictionary Structure, and this same data dictionary structure is used as the source of the context node. You can read more about this in the online help:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/47/9f724642314aabe10000000a42189b/frameset.htm
    The Note section under Integration:
If an input help structure is stored in a field in the ABAP Dictionary, and if you want to use the field mapping of search help parameters stored in the ABAP Dictionary as the field name for the structure for your Web Dynpro input help, then map your context nodes to this structure. This ensures that all components of the structure are available dynamically at runtime as attributes of the node.
If the context node is not mapped to the structure, the data element's input help can be used if there is one.

  • Regarding guidance to use standard search help

I need to add two fields PLANT and STORAGE Location on the item level of the service order.  These fields are not mandatory, and should enable the user to enter a Plant and Storage location. The storage location field editable and using a value help, this field and the plant will be filled in.  The plant field is read-only.  The table which contains the data in SAP is OFIC_PLANT_SRV.  Based upon the search help OFI_SHLP_STORAGE_LOC, I will put both the storage location and plant on the Web UI, when the user uses the search help of field Storage Location.
I am using SAP CRM 7.0 and new to ABAP and CRM.
Kindly suggest in detail what should I do step by step ?
ALready I have done the following :
    1) Enhanced respective components
    2) Added the fields through AET in BTADMINI

The search help used here is MAT1.

  • ALV Grid : How to use Matcode / Search Help ? :-)

    Hi all,
I'm using REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY, and I want to edit a field and use a matchcode/search help to enable the user to choose in a list.
In my Fieldcat routine I've :
            w_fieldcat_alv-edit          = 'X'.
            w_fieldcat_alv-datatype      = 'CHAR'.
            w_fieldcat_alv-inttype       = 'C'.
            w_fieldcat_alv-ref_tabname   = 'MARA'.
            w_fieldcat_alv-ref_fieldname = 'MATNR'.
At the ALV display, the field can be edited, the matchcode and a correct list is displayed but I can't select a field.
When I select a field, it's not copied to the alv cell.
Someone can help me, plz ?

  • How to copy a standard search help to another field

    Hi All,

    Hi,
the BP search is its own web client UI component. For the integration you could check any standard transaction UI component like the BT115H_SLSO, as those contain several partner fields.

  • Qtn: I have 10 standard elementary search helps in collective standard search help, how to deactivate the 10th elementary search help?

Qtn: I have 10 standard elementary search helps in collective standard search help, how to deactivate the 10th elementary search help?

    Hello,
this topic is still a problem for me, does anybody have an idea.
Just to show what's my problem:
Collective Search help KRED does include a SAP append-search help ASH_KRED which holds the elementary search helps KREDC, KREDE, KREDM, KREDW.
The search helps KREDE, KREDM, KREDW should not be displayed, so I added another Serach-Help-Append ZKRED_CUST at the end of CSH KRED which holds these 3 SH's with the hidden flag.
That works, the SH's are not shown anymore.
I also added some other of the Original SAP SH's (e.g. KREDA) with the hidden flag and added changed copies of these (e.g ZKREDA) there to be shown instead.
All this can be done modification free by appends.
The folders of the elementary search helps are shown in the order as they are found included in the KRED SH and the append to this SH.
This means that the not hidden Sh KREDC from ASH_KRED is shown before all the "custimized" ZKREDx -SH's. But we need this SH not very often, so that I want it to displayed al the right-most position of the folders of SH's or at the most down postition of the drop-down-selection of SH's.
But I have not found any way to do this modification free.
The only way to archive this is to modify ASH_KRED by setting the Hidden-Flag for KREDC and add this SH at the end of append-SH ZKRED_CUST again.
But I want avoid this modification.
So, is there any way to do this without modifing any of the original SAP SH's ?

  • How to make a field of ALV Grid to use a Search Help?

    Hi;
I have a ALV grid with a field catalog. Say the field is 'USR000'.
F4availabl = 'X' . for the field in the field catalog.
I have prepared search help named ZEV_PROTYPE that uses tha table ZEV_PROTYPES.(two fields in the table :ProType and Text).
Is it possible to make the field in ALV grid to use this search help if F4 is pressed on the field. ?
Which structure of the ALV must be used for that ? Is it Field Catalog ?
Would you please help me ?
    erk.

    Hi,
If you have a Z data element and the search help is attached to it, you can just give the reference table and field in the field catalog for the editable ALV field, and the search help should appear.

  • How to Assign Custom Search Help to the standard tcode ME53N.

    Hi All,
    Can any help me  out.
I have created a custom Collective Search ZH_T023_MEPO, I want it to be assigned it to the Tcode ME53N. Replacing the standard one H_T023_MEPO. and i also need to restrict it for only one Plant for other Plantu2019s  standard search help H_T023_MEPO should work as usual

    Hello
The search help in the item overview (of the purchase order) is H_T023_MEPO whereas in the item details section (tabstrip Material Data ) it is H_T023.
Thus, there would be at least two search helps that you need to change or modify.
I would suggest a different approach assuming that your requirement is to restrict the search help under certain conditions (e.g. plant). Implement the BAdI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST and implement two methods:
PROCESS_ITEM = check material group of item and invalidate if required
    (IF_PURCHASE_ORDER_ITEM_MM~INVALIDATE)
CHECK = closing check of entire PO (in case of invalid material groups return CH_FAILED = 'X'

  • Use of search help exit

use of search help exit with an example

    Hi,
A search help describes the standard input help process. In exceptions it could be necessary to deviate in some points from this standard. Such a deviation from the standard can also be implemented with a search help exit.
The input help process should look as much the same as possible throughout the entire system. Search help exits should therefore only be used for exceptions.
A search help exit is a function module that has a predefined interface. A search help exit is called at certain times by the help processor. The administrative data of the help processor are passed to the search help exit using the interface.
You can store your own program logic that manipulates this administrative data in the search help exit. Individual steps of the input help process can be skipped with a search help exit.
    for example
Search help exit F4UT_OPTIMIZE_COLWIDTH adjusts the column width in the hit list to the contents of the column. It makes sense to use this search help exit when the columns of the hit list have to be made very wide for extreme cases (e.g. for name fields), but normally they will contain much smaller values.
Each search help exit must have the same interface as function module F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE (is used as pattern for all the search help exits to be created). You can find more information about the interface in the documentation for this function module.
    Calling the Search Help Exit
If a search help exit is assigned to a search help, the help processor calls it at the following times:
Before Displaying the Dialog Box for Selecting the Required Search Path.
It is only called for collective search helps. Using the search help exit, the set of elementary search helps available can for example be restricted depending on the context.
Before Starting the F4 Process for the Elementary Search Help
The call is triggered independent of whether the dialog window for entering the search conditions appears or whether the selection is executed immediately (for example, because in the Hot key of the elementary search help Immediate value display is set).
Before Displaying the Dialog Box for Entering Search Conditions.
You can either influence the dialog for entering search conditions or skip it altogether here. You can also influence how the selection screen looks. The call is triggered only if there is no direct selection (that is, if in the Hot key of the elementary search help Immediate value display is not set).
    Before Selecting Data.
The data selection can be partly or completely copied from the search help exit. This can become necessary if the data selection cannot be implemented with a SELECT statement for a table or a view.
    Before Displaying the Hit List.
You can influence the display of the hit list in this step with the search help exit. You can reduce the number of values displayed here. For example, you can display only values for which the person calling the input help has authorization. You can also copy the complete hit list from the search help exit.
Before Returning the Values Selected by the User to the Input Template.
It could be advisable to intervene at this time if control of the further transaction flow should depend on the value selected. A typical example is setting set/get parameters.

  • Some questions about standard search help in WD4A

    Hello all,
I use the SAP standard search help for a business partner number input field. It works fine, but I need to customize the result popup a bit. I have the following issues:
    1. After the search I get a table with a list of all found business partners. The columns are not sortable. Can I change them to sortable (as in SAP GUI)?
    2. How can I add another field/column to the result list (birth date)?
    3. Per default 10 hits are shown on one page in this result table. Is it possible to show more hits at once?
Best regards and thanks for all help,
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,
first of all let's say that the Search Help has been changed a lot in the different SP level.
      Looking in a NW7.0 SP12 I can see that:
      1. It's not possible
      2. You have to change the Search Help definition in DDIC (/nSE11)
      3. Via the Settings link in the TOP LEFT you can change the value (but in my system it is set to 500)
Keep in mind that WDA support a freely programmed Search Help where you can do everything you want...but it requires coding...

  • F4 help in ALV grid using existing search help

    Hi All,
It would be appreciable , if some help on problem. Thanks in advance.
How to provide user defined F4 help in ALV grid using existing search help?
ALV grid has developed using OOPS concept.
    Thanks,
    Sudhakar.

    Hi,
if you already developed using OO concept, it should be possible to:
create a handler for event ONF4
The interface will tell you actual field name and value where F4 is pressed. This will enable you to call your own routine (see FM F4-IF....).
Please check how the standard handles F4  - if you have standard and customer-F4 mixed you shouldtake care that the standard handling is triggered.

  • Search Help - Restricting entries in standard search helps

Hi, is there any way to restrict entries in an SAP supplied search help?  The search help in question is 'SSH_T007A', this search help also has a user exit 'F4_TAXCODE_USER_EXIT'.  I'm not sure if the user exit is of any use or how to use it.  Ideally what I need to do is to restrict the list of applicable tax codes to only those that we want our users to select.  Does anyone have an idea of how to do this with a minimum of customization?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kevin May

    Hi Seshatal,
Thanks for the input, but this field does NOT  have any ON VALUE REQUEST event associated with it ....
as soon as F4 is hit, it goes to Function help_start ,so I don't think we can make any changes here as it is standard .
I think including a standard search help will help....how to achieve this ?
    Thanks,

  • What is the use of search helps? where can we creat it?

use of search helps and where can we create it?

    Hi narendra
    LOCK OBJEC TS
Lock objects are use in SAP to avoid the inconsistancy at the time of data is being insert/change into database.
SAP Provide three type of Lock objects.
    - Read Lock(Shared Locked)
protects read access to an object. The read lock allows other transactions read access but not write access to
the locked area of the table
    - Write Lock(exclusive lock)
protects write access to an object. The write lock allows other transactions neither read nor write access to
the locked area of the table.
    - Enhanced write lock (exclusive lock without cumulating)
works like a write lock except that the enhanced write lock also protects from further accesses from the
    same transaction.
You can create a lock on a object of SAP thorugh transaction SE11 and enter any meaningful name start with EZ Example EZTEST_LOCK.
Use: you can see in almost all transaction when you are open an object in Change mode SAP could not allow to any other user to open the same object in change mode.
Example: in HR when we are enter a personal number in master data maintainance screen SAP can't allow to any other user to use same personal number for changes.
    Technicaly:
When you create a lock object System automatically creat two function module.
    1. ENQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. to insert the object in a queue.
    2. DEQUEUE_<Lockobject name>. To remove the object is being queued through above FM.
You have to use these function module in your program.
    check this link for example.

    SEARCH HELPS
    1) Elementary search helps describe a search path. The elementary search help must define where the data of the hit list should be read from (selection method), how the exchange of values between the screen template and selection method is implemented (interface of the search help) and how the online input help should be defined (online behavior of the search help).
    2) Collective search helps combine several elementary search helps. A collective search help thus can offer several alternative search paths.
3)An elementary search help defines the standard flow of an input help.
    4) A collective search help combines several elementary search helps. The user can thus choose one of several alternative search paths with a collective search help.
5)A collective search help comprises several elementary search helps. It combines all the search paths that are meaningful for a field.
6)Both elementary search helps and other search helps can be included in a collective search help. If other collective search helps are contained in a collective search help, they are expanded to the level of the elementary search helps when the input help is called.

    Search Help Exits:
Re: dynamic values for search help
    Re: Dynamic search  help
Match code objects are same as Search helps, where they are used in Previous versions of SAP.
Now in the newer versions Search helps are replaced them.
Standard Texts are the texts which are maintained in SO10 Tcode
Every SAP application document is maintained with HEADER and ITEM texts
and these texts are fetched from SAP using the READ_TEXT Function module
by passing TEXT ID, TEXTNAME,TEXTOBJECT and LANGUAGE fields
You can double click on any long text in the systesm and you can see these paramters in the text editor.
Text Modules are created and used in Smartforms.
