How to use that arrow/plus sign to expand text on a page...

Hi all,
I'd like to learn and find out how to use a symbol or icon or
whatever to expand text on one of my pages. We've all seen it but I
have no idea what they're using to do it, in fact I'm not even sure
what the correct name is! I was going to do a view source to try to
figure it out, but I can't seem to remember any sites where I've
seen it.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks.

Take a look at the SwapClass tutorial from Project VII:

Their demo uses SwapClass for a menu, but you can adapt it
for exactly what
you're talking about.

That's not how unlocking an iPhone works.
The carrier the phone is locked to submits a request to Apple, wh updates their database. When that is complete, you restore the phone with iTunes to process the unlock.

How to use LR6 standalone without signing into cc?

GD this company will not give standalone customers peace and quiet. Shove the creative cloud down our throats whether we want it or not.
I cannot launch LR6 without being signed into cc. I paid for the stand alone edition. Does anyone know the magic mojo to get the dam thing right?

I ended here for a slightly different reason (the actual installation - for anyone interested - see below)
Since I'm here, I can try to give your question, as I understand it, my best shot:
- To check if your serial number "sticks", i.e. is not in trial or subscription mode: Go to the Help menu - System Info...
then if the 2nd line in the window that opens reads: "License: Perpetual", that's all you can do, re-installing won't make a difference.
- In that case, getting that annoying Adobe ID Sign-In message anyway (even if, like me, you don't want to do anything online, sync or otherwise):
there isn't much else to do but close the window without signing in and confirm to quit - Yes... every bleepin' time you launch LR6
I have not found a Preference to disable that check, even under the Lightroom mobile tab (which at least, like the Help menu, confirms you're not signed in). Maybe in a future update they'll have an option to disable that check on startup, at least after the first time (but not yet in 6.0.1, the latest one so far)
Otherwise either cave in and make at least a dummy Adobe ID, or the only other solution: Go back to LR5, unless you need the new functions...
It's still installed separately on my machine, and I have a pre-LR6 backup of my catalogs, so I'll play around with it for a couple of days before deciding. It's certainly my last Adobe product.
Now the reason I ended up here: The INSTALLER actually FORCES you to sign in with Adobe ID even with a VALID SERIAL, which is just plain bovine stuff, and the utterly unhelpful Adobe Chat employee didn't answer my question, pointed me towards Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Help | Serialize Lightroom CC trial to activate as Lightroom 6 (which still expects you to log in, no matter what you try later) and disconnected. Grrrr.
Here's the work-around for that:
- DISCONNECT your network connection temporarily (Turn off WiFi, unplug the ethernet cable...)
- Launch the installer, click on the "I have purchased" half => it will complain there's no internet connection
- But a "Connect Later" button appears => click on it => get the old serial# screen, enter serial (& if necessary re-connect, then enter prior serial to upgrade )
- Next screen, Accept Terms, then next screen choose your install options and there you go.
- You will of course have to get back online to validate the serial within a few days, like before, but at least you skipped the whole Adobe ID Sign-In nonsense, and not deal with the creepy "Starting with this version... share your information with Adobe how you use Lightroom... is turned on by default..."

I couldn't find the app you refer to in the App Store US however the ringtone makers I have used in the past send the tone to your email and when you click the link provided in the email, using your computer, it sends the tone to iTunes on your computer to sync with the iPhone. Try that and see if that works.
Perhaps you could post a link to the app and if possible I can check into it.

How to use script to get the first table row on each page?

I create a print form to display a table. I set a conditional page break on this table, so the table rows on each page could be different.
For example, there're total 50 rows in this table. On the 1st page, there're 5 rows, but on the 2nd page, there're only 2 rows, and so on...
Now I want to get some value from the 1st table row on each page. How can do that? I can refer to a table row using TableRow[n], but I don't know how to calculate 'n' in script (either FormCalc or JavaScript) for the 1st row on each page.
Any ideas?

Hi Wei,
There is an option of setting the overflow header in the pallette. You may check that out. It is basically used to have the table header to be seen in all pages, if the table is overflowing to multiple pages. You may put your first row as the overflow header.

In SO10 go into change/ create mode and from the menu select FORMAT and in this select CHANGE STYLE. A popup with the styles comes up and just slect which ever you want.

Using nested styles to break blocks of text into different pages

Hello everyone,
I'm treating data collected through a Google Docs form and I've already set it up so that the questions appear on the left and are followed by the respective answers sequentially so that I have a simple way to copy paste the whole information to Indesign. Then I'm going to use nested styles to define individual styles for the questions and answers.
What I can't do, however... and I'm not even sure if it's possible, is how to tell Indesign to break text that is laid out sequentially into different lines or to break blocks of text so that they start in the beggining of the next page without having to resize the text frames by hand.
As a visual example this is what the data I've exported out of excel looks like:
Question 1 (tab) Answer A1 (line break)
Question 2 (tab) Answer A2 (line break)
Question 3 (tab) Answer A3 (line break)
Question 1 (tab) Answer B1 (line break)
Question 2 (tab) Answer B2 (line break)
Question 3 (tab) Answer B3 (line break)
(and so on in groups of 3 questions)
And I want to turn it into:
Question 1 (turn the tabs into line breaks)
Answer A1
Question 2
Answer A2
Question 3
Answer A3
(and then start at the beggining of a new page)
Question 1
Answer B1
Question 2
Answer B2
Question 3
Answer B3
I can't define the size of the text frames so that the next group of questions+answers starts at the beggining of a new page because some of the answers are multi-line fields and thus the number of lines of the answers are variable and they can come short of the text frame edge or pass it.
Can anyone share some insight of how to do this (or if it is at all possible)?

I'm trying to automate this process as much as possible because I don't want to have to crunch the data manually myself later on, instead just teach someone else how to do it.
The first search and replace action seems basic enough but regarding the second one I would have to manually assign that paragraph style to the line where the data would break because one can only assign character styles in nested styles, right?
Also I've heard that ID CS5 automatically creates new pages based on a template when you paste information inside the first page, is that so? That would be great because that way the person wouldn't have to manually create pages and link the contents throughout the document but instead simply open my template and paste the information within the first master page. That's not possible with CS4, is it?

How do you make the title bar display different text than the page title?

I'm looking for a way for the title bar display of my web page to be different than the text in the actual nav bar created by iWeb. For instance, I'd like the nav bar to just say Home for my main page, but in the title bar in the browser say "blah blah blah."
I know there has to be a way to do this. iWeb has actually done it on one page already, but I can't figure out how. I think it picked up the title bar text from the first text box in the page. For instance, the page name in the navigation bar is "blahs for today" but the browser title bar when you open that page says "blah blah," which happens to be the first line of text on the page. The page title in iWeb.app, though, is "blahs for today." But if I look at the source code it lists title as "blah blah."
I'm guessing I might be able to work around by making an invisible text box with the text that I want in the title bar as the very first thing on the page, and hope iWeb makes that the title bar text. I'd rather have a more correct way of doing it.
Is there a way of doing this in the source code without having to change a lot of stuff?

Richard ~ The key is the default Title box that iWeb creates for every new page — it's that which you need to edit, not another text box you've created. And to make the text in that Title box invisible, see here.

Most compatable file type to use when copying and pasting specially formatted text into html pages?

I have a simple web site at http://www.psychicmeatloaf.com which is an online poetry journal site. I use files people send me (mostly .doc or .docx) and cut and paste the text from those files into html pages in an older version of Dreamweaver and some of the text has special formatting (like this page: http://www.psychicmeatloaf.com/Chang-poetry.htm ). The best way I have found to maintain the special text formatting is to open the .docx files and "save as a web page" in Word and then open the web page from Dreamweaver and then "Preview the page" in Explorer and copy and paste from the preview into an html page in Dreamveaver. Even using this method, some text will not maintain it's special formatting and for those I just save the page as a .jpg file and use that, because I have no other choice.
My question is, is there a better way and is there a better file type to work from other than .docx?

That's a lot of steps to get to a single end that could be done with a simple copy & paste of the text into code. Like Photoshop and Fireworks, Word writes some very bulky and dirty code. I wouldn't recommend it for direct copy by the method described above.
I personally copy the text and paste it into code view. It takes a little more work, but I don't get dozens of lines of inline styles added with it and using a preformatted post div (saved and hidden in the code (), I can quickly put title, date, byline and links up with a cut & paste.
That's just my $0.02 worth
Also, since nearly EVERYONE will use a different formatting in a Word doc, putting a bunch of differently formatted posts into a page will make it look like one of those ransom notes made of cut out text from different newspapers and magazines. Better to keep everything in a single format (your format) so it doesn't become an eyesore.

How to use SSLSocket on a signed jar applet?

OK, I finally could make work my client-server project, not the way I 'd like, but it works.
Now the problem is this:
Currently I have my applet in a jar file; saiCte.jar, which is signed in this way:
keytool -genkey -keystore TECSSDStore.keystore -alias Key1 -keyalg RSA -storepass tttttt -keypass tttttt
jarsigner -keystore TECSSDStore.keystore -signedjar saiCte.jar temp.jar Key1 -storepass tttttt -keypass tttttt
But signature is not useful for appletviewer, in my browser, I supposed that a signed applet would work, but it doesn't. There is a handshake problem. In the server it is:
javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Connection has been shutdown: javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Received fatal alert: certificate_unknown
I have to run the applet this way:
java -Djavax.net.ssl.trustStore=TECSSDStore.keystore -Djavax.net.ssl.keyStorePassword=tttttt -Djava.security.policy=SecPolicy sun.applet.Main Cte.html
Cte.html is this:

I considered setting properties, but it worked, I would reveal my password. Currently the only way I know for distributing my applet is including the keystore and password, which is inadmissible, since I signed the jar (or why am I supposed to sign jars if anyway I have to send keystore and passwords?)

In the server I have this:

I guess if this option is false and the client chooses not to provide authentication information about itself, the negotiations will continue.
I read in SSLSocket API docs for setUseClientMode that "Servers normally authenticate themselves, and clients are not required to do so. "
2. What is in this keystore that you want to distribute?
In my keystore there is only what can be produced with this:

Before I could respond to this forum I was asked to sign in. I was going to post something fairly snarky. Then I was asked to create a Skype Name different than my hotmail account. So I created one. wrap a view around your table with this bogus primary key. Use an instead of trigger to handle the inserts and updates. And then look at using surrogate keys to resolve these bad design issues...
