How to use the exceptions in a RFC ?

I can use XI (through BPM) to call a RFC and get response from the "Export" of a RFC. But could I get the exception from the "exception" of a RFC ?
I tried to write a RFC which will generate a exception and I found it in the XI monitor, but how to use it ? i.e. sometimes I need to get the "export", but sometimes I need to get "exception". Is there any documents or examples for it ? thanks.

Hi,
<i>But for fault message, I don't know how to send it to a receiver.</i>
There is no other configurations that you need to do with respect to fault messages.
If the rfc returns an exception, this message, is passed on to the receiver instead of the response message.
The receiver of the fault message will be the system that sent the request.
<i>(If I can use a transformation to mapping it to other message, I think it's ok too.)</i>
You need not use a BPM, for this, in case you are using it only for fault message handling.
All you need to do is, create a message mapping, with source and target message types as RFC exceptions and carry out a one to one mapping.This would display the exception coming from the RFC as the fault response st the sender.
In case, the exception returned from the RFC is not self-explanatory, you could map constants to the target message type(in message mapping) which would explain the reason for the fault.

Smitha.

    Hi,
    Whenever an exception is raised how to log the exception using Log action in oracle service bus.After logging where I have to find the logged message.

    It would be in the log file for the managed server which ran the request. If you are logging the message at a lower level than your app server, however, you won't see it. You should be logging the exception at Error level.

  • How to use the validations and exceptions  in BPEL

    Hi,
    How to use the validations and exceptions in BPEL.
    pls provide one sample example to give the exceptions and validations in BPEL

    Hi,
    For example you can create a simple BPEL Process and you can throw an error during running process. If input data is not valid and format is not correct you can throw error using throw activity and using catch activity you can catch particular error. The catch-all will handle all the error occurred with the scope.
    you can also refer faulthandling section in the link for more information related to exception handling.

  • Okay so I set up my Time Capsule already and is now backing up 2 of my iMacs. Works great. What I want to know is how to use the TC to directly store files? I want to do this to delete some files but still have them on the TC for future reference..

    Okay so I set up my Time Capsule already and is now backing up 2 of my iMacs. Works great. What I want to know is how to use the TC to directly store files? I want to do this to delete some files on iMac 20inch but still have them on the TC for future reference..eg some movies on iTunes. I want to directly save them on the drive so I can delete them from iTunes and gain some storage. (Ps on iMac 20 inch (it's almost full - 320 GB) when I enter time machine, a tab comes up on finder which reads "Time Machine backups" it's able to be ejected like a disc or a connected device. On the iMac 20 inch, I dragged some files onto there as if using it like a hard drive. Is this the correct method? Then I went to my 27inch iMac and saw the "Time Machine Backups" hoping to see the files I dragged from the 20inch iMac. But the files were not there except a folder that said "Backups.backupdb". Can someone help me?

    It's not a good idea to use a network disk for both Time Machine backups and other things.  By design Time Machine will eventually consume all the space on its output disk, which will then cause problem for your other files.  I'd store those other files on an external disk connected to the Time Capsule.  The problem with that is that Time Machine will only back up files that are local to your Mac.  That means that you'll only have one copy of the files on or attached to your Time Capsule.
    By the way, you've been misled by poor field labeling on this forum into typing a large part of your message into the field intended for the subject.  In the future just type a short summary of your post into that field and type the whole message into the field below that.

  • JNI - How to use the error reporting mechanism?

    I've developed a C++ DLL which is loaded from a commercial Win32 application (not written by me) as a plug-in for external calculations. On its initialization the C++ DLL launches the Java VM via the JNI invocation interface. When the DLL functions are called by the application, they forward the calls to Java objects inside the Java VM, again via JNI invocation interface.
    This works well, but I have encountered a weird error.
    From Java I open a JFrame containing a JTextArea as small console for debug output messages. If I turn output to this debug console off (my printToConsole routine checks whether a boolean flag is set), the string concatenation operator may lead to a crash of the Java VM.
    For example, if in one of the Java functions called from the
    DLL via JNI invocation interface the following is the first statement,
    it leads to a crash of the Java VM and the application that loaded the C++ proxy DLL.
    String test=""+Math.random(); // String test not used later
    Interestingly, if I comment this statement out, the Java code works fine WITHOUT any crash. I've already thought about potential races and synchronization issues in my code, but I don't see where this is the case. And the string concatenation error fails as well, if I insert sleep() statements in front of it and at other places in the code. However, if I turn on log messages printed to my JFrame debug console (containing a JTextArea), the String concatenation works without problems.
    So maybe the JNI interface has a bug and affects the Java VM; I don't see where my JNI code is wrong.
    One problem is that I do not get any stdout output, as the C++ proxy DLL is loaded by the Windows application, even if I start the Windows application from the DOS command line (under Windows).
    Does anyone know how to use the error reporting mechanism?
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/vm/error-handling.html
    Is it possible that the JVM, when it crashes, writes debug information about the crash into a file instead of stdout/stderr?
    My C++ proxy DLL was compiled in debug mode, but the commercial application (which loaded the DLL) is very likely not.
    I do not know hot to find the reason why the String concatenation fails inside the Java function called from the C++ DLL via JNI.

    Yes, I've initially thought about errors in the C++ code too. But the C++ code is actually very simple and short. It doesn't allocate anything on the C++ side. It allocates a couple of ByteBuffers inside the Java VM however via JNI invocation interface calls of env->NewDirectByteBuffer(). The native memory regions accessed via the ByteBuffers are allocated not by my own C++ code, but by the program that calls my DLL (the program is Metastock).
    The interesting thing is that everything works fine if output to my debug console is enabled, which means that in the Java print routine getConsoleLoggingState() returns true and text is appended to the jTextArea.
    static synchronized void print(String str)
    { MetaStockMonitor mMon=getInstance();
    if ( mMon.getFileLoggingState() && mMon.logFileWriter!=null) {
    mMon.logFileWriter.print(str);
    mMon.logFileWriter.flush();
    if ( mMon.getConsoleLoggingState() ) {
    mMon.jTextArea1.append(str);
    Only if output to the JTextArea is turned off (ie. getConsoleLoggingState()==false), the crash happens when the FIRST statement in the Java routine called via JNI invocation interface is a (useless) String concatenation operation, as described above.
    String test=""+Math.random(); // String test not used later
    Moreover, the crash happens BEFORE the allocated ByteBuffer objects are accessed in the Java code. But again, if console output is turned on, it works stable. If console output is turned off, it works when the (useless) String concatenation operation is removed in the Java routine called from C++.
    I've already thought about potential races (regarding multiple threads), but this can be ruled out in my case. It almost appears as if the JVM can have problems when called by the invocation interface (I tested it with Java 1.4.2 b28).
    All the calls between C++ and Java go ALWAYS in the direction from C++ code to Java. Unfortunately, there is no special JRE version with extensive logging capabilities to facilitate debugging. And the problem is not easily reproducible either.

  • How to use the change log in ODS to track Delta change?

    People say that historical data (like Delta change) in ODS can be tracked in the Change Log.  How to use the change log to track historic data?
    Thanks

    Kevin
    See if it helps
    Every ODS object is represented on the database by three transparent tables:
    Active data: A table containing the active data (A table)
    Activation queue: For saving ODS data records that are to be updated but that have not yet been activated. The data is deleted after the records have been activated.
    <b>Change log: Contains the change history for delta updating from the ODS Object into other data targets, such as ODS Objects or InfoCubes for example.</b>
    An exception is the transactional ODS object, which is only made up of the active data table.
    The tables containing active data are constructed according to the ODS object definition, meaning that key fields and data fields are specified when the ODS object is defined. Activation queue and change log are the same in the table’s structure. They have the request ID, package ID and the record number as a key.

  • HT1688 I am trying to find answers about how to use the earphones that came with my new iPhone 4s. Does this work similarly as a Bluetooth or do I need to still buy one. The printing in the manual is SOOO small, it is too hard to read!

    Does anyone know how to use the earphones( plugs) that come with iPhones?
    Mine is still fairly new and I am just learning how to use certain things.

    They're pretty straightforward. You plug them into the headset jack (the hole on the top left of your phone). You put the buds in your ears. All sounds, except for the phone ringing will now come through the earbuds.

  • How to write the exceptions in function module

    dear all,
         how to write the exceptions in function modules with example.
    thanq
    jyothi

    Hi,
    Raising Exceptions
    There are two ABAP statements for raising exceptions. They can only be used in function modules:
    RAISE except.
    und
    MESSAGE.....RAISING except.
    The effect of these statements depends on whether the calling program handles the exception or not. The calling program handles an exception If the name of the except exception or OTHERS is specified after the EXCEPTION option of the CALL FUNCTION statement.
    If the calling program does not handle the exception
    · The RAISEstatement terminates the program and switches to debugging mode.
    · The MESSAGE..... RAISING statement displays the specified message. Processing is continued in relation to the message type.
    If the calling program handles the exception, both statements return control to the program. No values are transferred. The MESSAGE..... RAISING statement does not display a message. Instead, it fills the system fields sy-msgid, sy-msgty, sy-msgno , and SY-MSGV1 to SY-MSGV4.
    Source Code of READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE
    The entire source code of READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE looks like this:
    FUNCTION read_spfli_into_table.
    ""Local Interface:
    *" IMPORTING
    *" VALUE(ID) LIKE SPFLI-CARRID DEFAULT 'LH '
    *" EXPORTING
    *" VALUE(ITAB) TYPE SPFLI_TAB
    *" EXCEPTIONS
    *" NOT_FOUND
    SELECT * FROM spfli INTO TABLE itab WHERE carrid = id.
    IF sy-subrc NE 0.
    MESSAGE e007(at) RAISING not_found.
    ENDIF.
    ENDFUNCTION.
    The function module reads all of the data from the database table SPFLI where the key field CARRID is equal to the import parameter ID and places the entries that it finds into the internal table spfli_tab. If it cannot find any entries, the exception NOT_FOUND is triggered with MESSAGE ... RAISING. Otherwise, the table is passed to the caller as an exporting parameter.
    Calling READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE
    The following program calls the function module READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE:
    REPORT demo_mod_tech_fb_read_spfli.
    PARAMETERS carrier TYPE s_carr_id.
    DATA: jtab TYPE spfli_tab,
    wa LIKE LINE OF jtab.
    CALL FUNCTION 'READ_SPFLI_INTO_TABLE'
    EXPORTING
    id = carrier
    IMPORTING
    itab = jtab
    EXCEPTIONS
    not_found = 1
    OTHERS = 2.
    CASE sy-subrc.
    WHEN 1.
    MESSAGE ID sy-msgid TYPE sy-msgty NUMBER sy-msgno.
    WHEN 2.
    MESSAGE e702(at).
    ENDCASE.
    LOOP AT jtab INTO wa.
    WRITE: / wa-carrid, wa-connid, wa-cityfrom, wa-cityto.
    ENDLOOP.
    The actual parameters carrier and jtab have the same data types as their corresponding interface parameters in the function module. The exception NOT_FOUND is handled in the program. It displays the same message that the function module would have displayed had it handled the error.
    Or
    just have to decide what exceptions u want and under what conditions.
    then declarethese exeptions under the exceptions tab.
    in the source code of ur function module.
    if
    like this u can code .
    now when u call the function module in tme mainprogram.
    if some error occurs and u have declared a exception for this then it will set sy-subrc = value u give inthe call of this fm.
    in the fm u can program these sy-subrc values and trigger the code for ur exception.
    Please reward if useful

  • How to use the BAPI_VENDOR_CREATE

    Hi Experts,
    Could anyone explain me, how to use the BAPI, 'BAPI_VENDOR_CREATE' !
    Our requirement is to create vendors from the third party system say like 'BIZTALK' . Those people will be connecting to our SAP server through a custom RFC, which I have to create and in that RFC, I have to call this BAPI. since the BAPI, 'BAPI_VENDOR_CREATE' doesn't have any import parameters, I am unable to pass the Vendor numbers and other fields say like, 'COMPANY CODE, ACCOUNT GROUP, STREET etc.., ' , which are also needed by the time of creating vendors.
    Can anyone help me out, how to solve this issue!!! Or else is there any otherway of approaching this problem, also please let me know...
    Thanks in advance.
    SOMU.

    You have to pass Header and GM code as the INput parameters for uing this BAPI....GM code would be structure.
    Also you have to pass the INternal table Item for the goods mvt cxreate which will contains
          BATCH.
          MOVE_TYPE.
          ENTRY_QNT.
          MOVE_PLANT.

  • How to use the cases in button action?

    Hi Experts,
    I want to get a prompt message if the field is empty.I got it but at the same time if the field is filled I want the other action to be performed that is to call a BAPI and give me output.How can I give two events for the same action.
    How to use the cases in button action?
    So, please guide me.Urgent need
    Regards
    Nutan

    Hi Nutan,
    if I understand you, then you have a simple validation. Therefore you can use the validation functionality of VC for your components. An alternative could be by writing a new ABAP RFC function module like:
    BAPI Input parameters as input and BAPI output parameters as output and an additional return code or string for a message:
    IF I_FIELD IS INITIAL.
      E_RETURN_CODE = "THE FIELD IS EMPTY."
    ELSE.
      CALL FUNCTION <YOUR_BAPI>
      <BAPI PARAMETERS>
    ENDIF.
    I hope that helps.

    I have to use the HttpUrlConnection to download files ,sometimes the speed is very slow or just blocked for no reason.(no Exception was throw and I can't see any changes from my swing Interface)
    It seems the thread is dead. I try to use setReadTimeout() to control the read . but it isn't working ,

    one how to use the setReadTimeout() so it can throw the SocketTimeoutException like the API said
    second how to solve the problem I metioned before : sometimes the speed is very slow or just blocked for no reason
    Please somebody help me !!!

    That is not true. For example ajax continuous, http monitor or media streaming in client side is unusable without nio http client (or implementation is much simple and better). All logic is coming to client side from server. Modern client are very powerful and same time servers are overloaded.

  • How to understand the STAD relevant for RFC

    Hello performance experts.
    I have question about how to understand the STAD relevant for RFC.

    Should I add the 2 response time?
    1) 5,867 ms +   5,797 m  is collect?
    2) 5,867 ms  include RFC time, so no need to sum the value and 5,867 ms is collect??

    Hi Keiichiro,
    I wonder how I should calculate the response time of action"Save" button in following case.
    Should I add the 2 response time?
    1) 5,867 ms +   5,797 m  is collect?
    2) 5,867 ms  include RFC time, so no need to sum the value and 5,867 ms is collect??
    3)  590 ms  +   5,797 ms is collect?
    4) Or other calculation is correct ?
    It depends of what you mean with response time of action "Save" button.
    If you mean ALL time, the value is 5.867 because the local time from save was 594ms, the "external" RFC time was 5280ms.
    If you want separete analysis, the 594ms is your option since the 5280ms is in other part...
    Also, analysing the other part there's another other part which represents a good part of processing time:
    Database request time      2,882 ms
    Hope this help youl.

  • How to use the function module ....

    hi
    how to use the function module ssf_function_module_name in smartforms

    Hi..
    If you are using this Function module, you can get the generated function module name of smartform dynamically. It is good progrmaming practice to get the fucntion module name dynamically because there might be some problems if you are hard coding in program.
    This will return the name of the function module and then from the exporting parameters you can use the fucntion module name to pass parameters to Smartforms.
    Check this link.I am expalining here how to use this function module.
