It is Table (Month Ago Fact) in paint.rpd
It is not use Ago function.
Loot at Month Ago Fact`s Properties,
It is use Time series wizard.
But I don`t know where it is.
Please~~Help me~~~

we are on OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5)
Any pointers and links are really helpful.
I have a requirement where YTD sales are displayed in a column. We wan to compare that number to what that number was last year at the same time. Tried to use TODATE, AGO and it did not work.

Kris,
Basically you want to combine the 2 time series functions here i.e. TODATE & AGO.
Here you go..
You can create first a YTD logical column in BMM say YTD Sales Rev..Then create another logical column with calculation as AGO(YTD Sales Rev, YEARDIM, 1) or AGO(YTD Sales Rev, MONTHDIM, 12).
Similarly, you create other measures...OBIEE 11g has time series function in Answers as well but I'd say try to create using RPD as you to calculate 1 logical column based on another. Better to push it on RPD side.

We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.4 version on windows envorinment..For our OBIEE project every we are getting feed around 4 lacks per a day.So we are planning partition the data in OBIEE side using time series wizard does it Possiable in OBIEE side..Using time series wizard we can pratition the data for every 6 months wise.

My columns are as below

A 12/4/2010 100 0

A 12/18/2010 300 200
B 12/4/2010 400 300(this value is not for prod B, i want this to b 0 aswell. But we get product A's last sale amount)
Is there any way this can be done. I have tried evaluate,MSUM.
I cannot build a time dimension as all I have is a view.

Time Series Wizard in OBIEE 10.1.3.3

How do I accomplish the TIME SERIES WIZARD functionality that was present in Siebel Analytics 7.7 in OBIEE 10.1.3.3. This comparison measure feature seems to be removed in OBI.

There are several problems with the OBE given in the first url (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bi_ee_1013/bi_admin/biadmin.html#t11)
(1) pre-built repository and other files (e.g., SH_PartTwo.rpd, SHQuota.xls) cited in the example are not included with download- at least not with 10.1.3.3.1 version I downloaded. When followed instructions to open SH.rpd (included in the download of 10.1.3.3.1) gave error and could not open it. (My DB version is 10.2, op system XP professional)
(2) Looks like this OBE is a newer version - under Build Diemension Hierarchies the steps 33 (Customer dim), 34 (Promotion Dim) and 35 (Time Diemension) have been removed. This is good because in the older version of this OBE the time dimension (given in step 35) was wrong.
(3) In Create Time Measure section cannot select month ago sales and month to date sales columns together in a query. When selected together gave error: pls refer to this thread -

Hopefully the current version of this OBE will be updated with an example that has steps to create time dimensions (Calendar and Fiscal) and other steps so that columns created with AGO and TODATE functions can be selected together in a query.

I need to calculate MTD and YTD of last year without using time series function.
My requirement is like:
We are working on Fiscal year.
Suppose user will select a date: 15-Jan-2013

Use a period table with Period Ago attributes and join these to an alias of your fact table. In other words, use a period table (let's say Day is grain) that would have
WAgo, QAgo, YAgo, (etc.) attributes for each day. Join this table to aliases of the fact tables on these columns.

I am using OBIEE v11.1.13, I want to use Time series AGO function in Answers level, its syntax is:
AGO(expr, level, interval)
for level part: should i only give the <name of the level in the hierarchy>, is it compulsary that i should introduce the Hierarchy to presentation layer?

How to use time capsule for wireless back-up but not internet?

Hello,
I have a tower and recently a laptop at work. The tower is connected to our local network with an ethernet cable and the laptop with wireless. So, the internet connection is fine for both.
I was hoping to use my time capsule to do time machine backups on my laptop. Do you have any advice on how to configure this? I do not want to use the time capsule to extend my Internet, as I believe my work I.T. would prefer to handle all access to their network.
Perhaps there is some documentation about doing this that you could point me to? I have not been able to find it.

Your original question was How to use Time Capsule for wireless back-up but not Internet?
There is no reason for you to connect the tower....or anything else...using Ethernet if your goal remains that same as you stated.
If you are asking if you can backup the Tower using Ethernet, and not wireless, then you can connect the tower to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule....not the WAN port.
Yes, it appears to work without plugging into my tower.
Correct, it will work.
I just have to select the network that it created. Of course, I have no access to the Internet while this is happening and it can not auto backup, unless I am on that wireless signal.
As I stated, that is the downside to trying to back up without an Internet connection. You have to establish another network...and backup over that network.
If you are asking if you can stay connected to the work network while also backing up to your non-Internet "private" network, that is not possible.

Get a vpn router.. I have no idea where you are in the world but you can find reasonable stuff for not too much money or even a general router that takes third party firmware like dd-wrt can run openvpn.
Set up the vpn router in place of the TC, as the main router in the network. Simply bridge the TC and place it behind the router. It will be accessible as part of the network via the vpn.
This is the only safe way to do it via windows.

If you google around I have seen posts about how to access TC by port forwarding SMB on the TC.. using a different port.. To me this is going to slow down the hackers by a day or two.. then they will discover the open port and access your network.. not just the TC.. they now have SMB access to everything. Don't do it. There is very little security on SMB.

Dear All,
I am trying to use Aggregate Persistance wizard from BI admin tool (11.5).
I created a repository based on SH schema (oracle 11.2) , and then from Tool->Utilities-> menu tried to invoke Aggregat persisatnce wizard.
Very first time I was able to click 'Execute' button by selecting this wizard from the list, but now , no matter wht I can not invoke the same as 'Execute' buttion is permanently disabled.
Please tell me what it the reason for this. Why execute buttion is disableed. IF I select , any other wizard from the list, this button is enabled, but as soon as I select aggregate persistance from the list, the button disables, and I am not able to move forwred.
I ws trying to learn to create aggrages using this wizard, but can not go further as this buttion is disabled. I thought it might have happend due to some problem, so I stoped the BI services , shutdown the laptop, and rstared the BI services, and tried to recreated th rpd from scratch, which I could , but as soon as I go to Tools-Utiities and select aggragate persistance , I can not do it as the exectue buttion is diableed. What is the issue, and how to enable this again.? AM I doing somthing wrong or missing some step.?
Please help me to understand the issue so that I can resolve..

Before I read that blog I use another vo for sum but after that blog decide to use analytic fuction becuase we have some page that have to many dvt graph and table and know we use seperate vo for them and it has not good performance and too many query must run in database ,I want to have 1 vo with some analytic function for graph and tables

I have a LaCie external hard disk. I do not know how to retrieve photos from iphoto that have disappeared. I do not know how to use Time Machine

I have a LaCie external hard drive. I also have Time Machine. I somehow have "lost" almost all my 5,000+ photos from iPhoto 8.1.2. I would appreciate someone giving me directions on how to retrieve the photos from the external hard drive or Time Machine.
The last thing that I did that is different from my normal routine was to trash duplicate music tunes from iTunes. I cannot figure out how that would have caused my photos to disappear.

I remember being cautioned to never do anything with the iPhoto Library. Should I have clicked on the iPhoto Library and then Restore?
I do not know "how" items are being placed in the LaCie external drive, just that it shows a backup running about every hour. I have taken a snapshot of the Time Machine Preferences I would you to see. Maybe that would answer this question.
In March 2011 I had to have hard drive on my iMac replaced. I had been using a Seagate external drive for backups. However I was not using Time Machine. When the Apple guru was helping me restore all my files etc on the new hard drive he was not familiar with Seagate and recommended I purchase this LaCie and use Time Machine. I never had any problem retrieving items from the Seagate backup. It was very straightforward. As I mentioned previously, I just don't have a clue with the LaCie and Time Machine.
I hope this is not TMI.
