How to use Title 3D?
Am I missing something out of the FCE HD box, or is this the Apple way?
I recently purchased Final Cut Express HD and am trying to apply “Title 3D” and “Title Crawl”, but cannot find any guidance information either in the printed FCE User Manual or the internal Help section referencing these video generators.
Also included in the FCE HD box was LiveType, which provides titling/animation software. No printed manual was included for LiveType but a 170 page Help section is embedded in the software which seems to be comprehensive enough and includes a tutorial exercise.
I’m trying to develop some non-static titling for home movies, using a font with an embossed 3D like appearance. Would I be better off thoroughly learning how to use LiveType rather than wasting time clicking buttons on the Title 3D pane, which automatically pops up when the Title 3D Effect is dragged onto a FCE timeline? So far I can’t figure out the process of using all the buttons, the color bar, style palette.
Thanks in advance to all of the experts that participate in these forums.

TangentIdea,
Thank You, Thank You..........I found what I was looking for, and it was right under my nose, or I should say where you said I could find it, ....still in the box that I had shelved once I had FCE up and running.
I feel embarrassed for posting the question in the first place, but that's what I like about these forums; you can ask a naive question and find someone gracious enough to get back to you.
And I agree that LiveType is probably the option that I should pursue, but for now, Title 3D might be the quickest.
Thanks again,
BoBo

How to use Titles in iMovie?
When i add closing titles to my project, i have terrible problems aligning the font. For instance, if i want top part to be left justified with a tab space (traditional format for lisiting an actor and their name) but then have the text below centred (eg filmed on location at xyz), it defaults to one or the other but doesn't allow both styles. I know it can be done, as it has worked for me occasionally, but it is very fiddly and more often that not does not work. Does anybody else have this problem and do you have any tips on how to manage it?
Many thanks.Jerry, when the title window comes up, there's a button in the upper left hand corner that says Show Fonts. Click on that, and then in that window, there's a button in the lower left that says, "System Font Panel". That gives you a whole host of different options which you can apply to each line in the title you are trying to edit. Left/Center/Right/Justified are all available from the System Font panel.

Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper). For example, if I am downloading a paper by smith called "Surgery" that was published in 2002, it will automatically set the file name in the download to smith- surgery 2002. I have heard pages is smart enough to do this.
thank youPages can export only its own documents. They may be exported as PDF, MS Word, RTF or Text files.
Pages can import (ie. Open a file as, or Insert a file into, a Pages document) documents in several formats, but won't rename the document as you describe. Documents that can be Opened (eg. Text, AppleWorks 6 WP, MS Word files) are converted to Pages documents, and retain their original names, with .pages replacing the original file extension. Files that can be Inserted (generally .jpg, .pdf and other image files) become part of the existing Pages file and lose their names.
It may be possible, using AppleScript, to extract the text you want and to Save a Pages file using that text as the filename, but that would depend in part on being able to identify which text is wanted and which is not.
How will the script determine where the author's name begins and where it ends?
How will the script recognize the beginning and of the title, an decide how much of the title to use in the filename?
How will the script recognize the year of publication?
For papers published in a specific journal, with a strict format for placing each of these pieces on information, or containing the needed information as searchable meta data in the file, this might be possible. But it would require knowledge of the structure of these files, and would probably handle only papers published in a specific journal or set of journals.
Outside my field of knowledge, but there are some talented scripters around here who might want to take a closer look.
Best of luck.

How to use "scope " attrubute in useBean tag
Can anyone please tell me if I can use the same JavaBean Class to hold information form different pages? well, let me explain exactely what I want to do:
I have a Java bean Class that holds a property 'Name':
package ContactManager;
public class Person {
private String name="%";
public String getName () {
return this.name;
public void setName (String my_name) {
name = my_name + "%" ;
I'm using this class to store temporarly the Criteria of search from a JSP/HTML page to send to a database for search and for UPDATE -> this of course is done in different HTML/JSP pages. The problem I have is that the first time I set the properties (when the user make a search) this value remains unchanged [-> the second time when the user asks for update, I try to use the same bean to keep the value => unfortuntly it returns me the old value]
My question is: is the use of 'scope' attribute of the "jsp:useBean" tag can solve this problem? if yes how to use it? I've tryed to set the scope of the bean to page but that does not help :-(
Pleaze help, I'm stuck.... Bellow is the 4 JSP pages for:

Thank you for the help.
SammyWhile a quick search on the <jsp:useBean> tag and the scope attribute will probably yield more information than I can summarize in a few sentences, I'm pretty sure that using the scope="page" attribute on a bean will cause that bean to be instantiated every time the page is loaded. In order for a bean to persist longer than the existance of that page (whether you're loading a new page, or reloading the same one), you'd need to set the scope to session or application (you'd probably want session).

How to get Title from JOptionPane
Hi,
I would like to get Title from a JOptionPane, is there any method to get the same? for example, a message dialog has "Error" as title how can I get it?
Thanks in advance.
-JoseHi Jose,
Do you mean you want to set the title? If so you can specify the title in one of the many static methods available ie.
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(parent, "some message", "some title", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
Otherwise if you are trying to get the title try..
String title = "some title";
JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(parent, "some message", title , JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
then you can write some other code using title.
Hope this helps Jose,
regards Darren. -

Here is the procedure
1. Create a new smartforms
Transaction code SMARTFORMS
Create new smartforms call ZSMART
2. Define looping process for internal table
Pages and windows
First Page -> Header Window (Cursor at First Page then click Edit -> Node -> Create)
Here, you can specify your title and page numbering
&SFSY-PAGE& (Page 1) of &SFSY-FORMPAGES(Z4.0)& (Total Page)
Main windows -> TABLE -> DATA
In the Loop section, tick Internal table and fill in
ITAB1 (table in ABAP SMARTFORM calling function) INTO ITAB2
3. Define table in smartforms

4. To display the data in the form
Make used of the Table Painter and declare the Line Type in Tabstrips Table
e.g. HD_GEN for printing header details,
IT_GEN for printing data details.
You have to specify the Line Type in your Text elements in the Tabstrips Output options.
Tick the New Line and specify the Line Type for outputting the data.
Declare your output fields in Text elements
Tabstrips - Output Options
For different fonts use this Style : IDWTCERTSTYLE
For Quantity or Amout you can used this variable &GS_ITAB-AMOUNT(12.2)&
5. Calling SMARTFORMS from your ABAP program
REPORT ZSMARTFORM.

you can check this link here you can see the steps and you can do it the same by looking at it..
http://smoschid.tripod.com/How_to_do_things_in_SAP/How_To_Build_SMARTFORMS/How_To_Build_SMARTFORMS.html
SMARTFORMS STEPS.
1. In Tcode se11 Create a structure(struct) same like the Internal table that you are going to use in your report.
2. Create Table type(t_struct) of stracture in se11.
3. In your program declare Internal table(Itab) type table of structure(struct).
4. Define work area(wa) like line of internal table.
5. Open Tcode Smartforms
6. In form Global setting , forminterface Import parameter define Internal table(Itab) like table type of stracture(t_struct).
7. In form Global setting , Global definitions , in Global data define Work area(wa) like type stracture(struct).
8. In form pages and window, create Page node by default Page1 is available.
9. In page node you can create numbers of secondary window. But in form there is only one Main window.
10. By right click on page you can create windows or Go to Edit, Node, Create.
11. After creating the window right click on window create table for displaying the data that you are passing through internal table.
12. In the table Data parameter, loop internal internal table (Itab) into work area(wa).
13. In table there are three areas Header, Main Area, Footer.
14. Right click on the Main area create table line by default line type1 is there select it.
15. Divide line into cells according to your need then for each cell create Text node.
16. In text node general attribute. Write down fields of your work area(wa) or write any thing you want to display.
17. Save form and activate it.
18. Then go to Environment, function module name, there you get the name of function module copy it.
19. In your program call the function module that you have copied from your form.
20. In your program in exporting parameter of function pass the internal table(itab).
SAP Smart Forms is introduced in SAP Basis Release 4.6C as the tool for creating and maintaining forms.
SAP Smart Forms allow you to execute simple modifications to the form and in the form logic by using simple graphical tools; in 90% of all cases, this won't include any programming effort. Thus, a power user without any programming knowledge can
configure forms with data from an SAP System for the relevant business processes.
To print a form, you need a program for data retrieval and a Smart Form that contains the entire from logic. As data retrieval and form logic are separated, you must only adapt the Smart Form if changes to the form logic are necessary. The application program passes the data via a function module interface to the Smart Form. When activating the Smart Form, the system automatically generates a function module. At runtime, the system processes this function module.
You can insert static and dynamic tables. This includes line feeds in individual table cells, triggering events for table headings and subtotals, and sorting data before output.
You can check individual nodes as well as the entire form and find any existing errors in the tree structure. The data flow analysis checks whether all fields (variables) have a defined value at the moment they are displayed.
SAP Smart Forms allow you to include graphics, which you can display either as part of the form or as background graphics. You use background graphics to copy the layout of an existing (scanned) form or to lend forms a company-specific look. During printout, you can suppress the background graphic, if desired.
SAP Smart Forms also support postage optimizing.
Also read SAP Note No. 168368 - Smart Forms: New form tool in Release 4.6C
What Transaction to start SAP Smart Forms?
Execute transaction SMARTFORMS to start SAP Smart Forms.
Key Benefits of SAP Smart Forms:
SAP Smart Forms allows you to reduce considerably the implementation costs of mySAP.com solutions since forms can be adjusted in minimum time.
You design a form using the graphical Form Painter and the graphical Table Painter. The form logic is represented by a hierarchy structure (tree structure) that consists of individual nodes, such as nodes for global settings, nodes for texts, nodes for output tables, or nodes for graphics.
To make changes, use Drag & Drop, Copy & Paste, and select different attributes.
These actions do not include writing of coding lines or using a Script language.
Using your form description maintained in the Form Builder, Smart Forms generates a function module that encapsulates layout, content and form logic. So you do not need a group of function modules to print a form, but only one.
For Web publishing, the system provides a generated XML output of the processed form.
Smart Forms provides a data stream called XML for Smart Forms (XSF) to allow the use of 3rd party printing tools. XSF passes form content from R/3 to an external product without passing any layout information about the Smart Form.
SmartForms System Fields
Within a form you can use the field string SFSY with its system fields. During form processing the system replaces these fields with the corresponding values. The field values come from the SAP System or are results of the processing.
System fields of Smart Forms
&SFSY-DATE&
Displays the date. You determine the display format in the user master record.
&SFSY-TIME&
Displays the time of day in the form HH:MM:SS.
&SFSY-PAGE&
Inserts the number of the current print page into the text. You determine the format of the page number (for example, Arabic, numeric) in the page node.
&SFSY-FORMPAGES&
Displays the total number of pages for the currently processed form. This allows you to include texts such as'Page x of y' into your output.
&SFSY-JOBPAGES&
Contains the total page number of all forms in the currently processed print request.
&SFSY-WINDOWNAME&
Contains the name of the current window (string in the Window field)
&SFSY-PAGENAME&
Contains the name of the current page (string in the Page field)
&SFSY-PAGEBREAK&
Is set to 'X' after a page break (either automatic [Page 7] or command-controlled [Page 46])
&SFSY-MAINEND&
Is set as soon as processing of the main window on the current page ends
&SFSY-EXCEPTION&
Contains the name of the raised exception. You must trigger your own exceptions, which you defined in the form interface, using the user_exception macro (syntax: user_exception <exception name >).
Example Forms Available in Standard SAP R/3
SF_EXAMPLE_01
Simple example; invoice with table output of flight booking for one customer
SF_EXAMPLE_02
Similar to SF_EXAMPLE_01 but with subtotals
SF_EXAMPLE_03
Similar to SF_EXAMPLE_02, whereby several customers are selected in the application program; the form is called for each customer and all form outputs are included in an output request
Advantages of SAP Smart Forms
SAP Smart Forms have the following advantages:
1. The adaption of forms is supported to a large extent by graphic tools for layout and logic, so that no programming knowledge is necessary (at least 90% of all adjustments). Therefore, power user forms can also make configurations for your business processes with data from an SAP system. Consultants are only required in special cases.
2. Displaying table structures (dynamic framing of texts)
3. Output of background graphics, for form design in particular the use of templates which were scanned.
4. Colored output of texts
5. User-friendly and integrated Form Painter for the graphical design of forms
6. Graphical Table Painter for drawing tables
7. Reusing Font and paragraph formats in forms (Smart Styles)
8. Data interface in XML format (XML for Smart Forms, in short XSF)
9. Form translation is supported by standard translation tools
10. Flexible reuse of text modules
11. HTML output of forms (Basis release 6.10)
12. Interactive Web forms with input fields, pushbuttons, radio buttons, etc. (Basis-Release 6.10)

In portlets, how to use a html form passing values to the another page?
it is well known that in web developing , we have two methods to pass values to another page.<!--
1. passing values
2.<form action="nextPage" method ="post"></form>-->
but how to use two methods in oracle portal portlets?
I have got a simple example which submit two values to the page for itself, means a page has a form with submit botton, user input the form with values and then submit them by submit botton, then the page recevice those values and show it .
this example is powered by oracle ,
please have a look at these code:
<br><br>
<%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=UTF-8" %>
<%@page import="java.util.*, oracle.portal.provider.v2.*" %>
<%@page import="oracle.portal.provider.v2.http.HttpCommonConstants" %>
<%@page import="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.PortletRendererUtil" %>
<%@page import="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.PortletRenderRequest" %>
<%@page import="oracle.portal.provider.v2.render.http.HttpPortletRendererUtil" %>
<%@page import="oracle.portal.provider.v2.url.UrlUtils" %>
<%
// The form submit URL refers to the current Portal page. All portlets
// on this page share this URL. This means that the per portlet parameters
// are in the same request. Portlets must ensure that its paramerters don't
// collide either with other portlets or other instances of itself. This
// is generally accomplished by using "fully-qualified" parameter names. A
// fully-qualified parameter name prepends the (unique) portlet reference to
// the parameter. The JPDK provides a utility to accomplish this.
String portletParamName = "mName";
String portletParamAge = "mAge";
String portletParamSubmit = "mSubmit";
String fName = HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(request, portletParamName);
String fAge = HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(request, portletParamAge);
String fSubmit = HttpPortletRendererUtil.portletParameter(request, portletParamSubmit);
// These are the session attribute names used to store the current values.
// Because all instances of this portlet share the same user session we must
// also fully-qualify these names to avoid collisions.

moonsoftHi Moonsoft,
I have already answered this query in the other post at Re: how to link more than one links in portlet?(jsp develop)
<form name = "showPageForm" method = "POST" action = "<%= UrlUtils.htmlFormActionLink(pReq,UrlUtils.PAGE_LINK) %>">
<%= UrlUtils.htmlFormHiddenFields(pReq,UrlUtils.PAGE_LINK, "showPageForm") %>
<input type="text" name="param1">
<input type="text" name="param2">
<input type="hidden" name="myPPN" value="/htdocs/page2.jsp">
</form>then in your jsp code on page2.jsp, you will extract the parameters by specifying
<%
String p1 = request.getParameter("param1");
String p2 = request.getParameter("param2");
%>
>>this is easy common jsp or asp development, but in oracle is too diffcult!!!!
:-) .. there is a difference between web-applications and portlets, you just need to get used to it once. I hope this does clarify your doubts.
thanks,

How to use the namespace with a parser?
I want to use the namespace in my project. For this reason, I use a sample
from
http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/dist/1.1/docs/tutorial/sax/7b_pe.html
http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/dist/1.1/docs/tutorial/dom/5_ns.html
to test my understanding.
The slideshow2.dtd refer to the definition in 'xhtml.dtd'. Because in these
two files, they all use the 'title' as the element names. To solve these
conflicts, The namespace is used to qualified the one in slideshow2.dtd.
But the parser still complain that the 'title' in slideshow2.dtd is declared
more than once.
I use apache's Xerces.
I want to know if Xereces realy support namespace spec. now, or how to use
the namespace with a parser. Can anyone kindly tell me where to find some
material that demo the use of namespace in Java program.
Thanks for any help!!!

How to put Titles in iPhoto slideshows
I truly love the slideshows I create in iPhoto with music...
"BUT", I'd also like to add a brief comment before, during or after the slideshow, and I've found this impossible to do.
Is Apple waiting for the new upgrade to address this problem?...
I've gone into my wordprocessor "Appleworks, and text-edit", hoping I could then export/import the titles into iPhoto, but to no avail...
I enjoy creating slideshows with music, then burning them, then playing them on stereo sound television, and its a total blast for me when I view my creations.
So, Apple, or readers on this site, please help a poor old man towards the path of enlightenment, for life can truly be beautiful with "titles"...
Thanks to all...
QuickSilver G4 933 Mac OS X (10.4.8)Terence,
Don't know if you misunderstood my problem, but today, I found the solution to putting titles into iPhoto slideshows, and its pretty simple also.
I don't know how to enter a link here in order to include the directions on how to create titles in iPhoto..
But, briefly, create the title in any wordprocessor.
Take a screen shot.
Drag it into an iPhoto icon
Then, drag the icon into the iPhoto library.

We have no idea what enhancements - if any - are
planned for iPhoto. What you want to do cannnot be
done with iPhoto unless you use a third part editor
to create images with the comments, and import the
images into iPhoto and then incorporate them into
your slideshow. There are other apps that can caption
and use comments. Check out PhotoToMovie from
http://www.lqgraphics.com.

Ranges
A selection table is linked to the column of a database table, or to an internal field in the program. A selection table is an internal table object of the standard table type that has a standard key and a header line.
In addition to selection tables that we create using SELECT-OPTIONS, we can use the RANGES statement to create internal tables that have the structure of selection tables. You can use these tables with certain restrictions the same way you use actual selection tables.
A ranges table type is a special case of a table type. A ranges table type describes the structure of an internal table for administrating complex areas, i.e. the type of an internal table ranges table in the ABAP program.
The row type of a ranges table type has a fixed structure. The row type consists of 4 components SIGN (sign), OPTION (comparison operator), LOW (lower limit) and HIGH (upper limit) in this order.
1. SIGN The database type of SIGN is C with length 1. The contents of SIGN determine for each row whether the result of the row condition is to be included in or excluded from the resulting set of all rows. Possible values are I (inclusion criterion operators are not inverted) and E (exclusion criterion operators are inverted).
2. OPTION The database type OPTION is C with length 2. It contains the selection operator. The following operators are available:-
- If HIGH is empty, we can use EQ, NE, GT, LE, LT, CP, and NP.
- CP and NP are only allowed if wildcards (*' or '+) are used in the input fields.
- If wildcards are entered on the selection screen, the system automatically uses the operator CP. The escape character is defined as #.
- If HIGH is filled, you can use BT (Between) and NB (Not Between). We cannot use wildcard characters.
3. LOW - The data type of LOW is the same as the column type of the database table, to which the selection criterion is linked.
If HIGH is empty, the contents of LOW define a single field comparison. In combination with the operator in OPTION, it specifies a condition for the database selection.
If HIGH is filled, the contents of LOW and HIGH specify the upper and lower limits for a range. In combination with the operator in OPTION, the range specifies a condition for the database selection.
4. HIGH - The data type of HIGH is the same as the column type of the database table, to which the selection criterion is linked. The contents of HIGH specify the upper limit for a range selection.
If the selection table contains more than one row, the system applies the following rules when creating the complete selection criterion:
1. Form the union of sets defined on the rows that have SIGN field equal to I (inclusion).
2. Subtract the union of sets defined on the rows that have SIGN field equal to E (exclusion).
3. If the selection table consists only of rows in which the SIGN field equals E, the system selects all data outside the set specified in the rows.
RANGES tables
We can use the following variants of the TYPES and DATA statements to create internal tables of the same type as selection tables.
TYPES|DATA .
An elementary associated type defines the type of components LOW and HIGH. It can be defined by specifying a data element or by directly defining the data type, number of places and if necessary the number of decimal places.
A ranges table type always has Standard table access mode and a standard key that is non-unique.
I think this will help u .
Reward points if helpful.

</html:html> Please refer me where i done a mistake.Thanks in Advancehi all,
I am doing programs in sturts. My program
My program purpose is to retrieve data from the
database.My database is MySql. I know that we can
write connection code in Action Class, it is ok for
some less prog's if i want to use the sane connection
code in more Action Classes it is vasting time and
so.I don't think it's a good idea to put database code in Action classes. (That's one of the biggest drawbacks of Struts - it's completely tied to Actions, HTTP, and the Web.) Better to move that code into plain old Java objects and let the Actions call them.
You'll be able to test them without the container or Struts, and you'll be able to reuse those objects in other, non-Web contexts.
So i want to use <data-sources> tag that is available
in struts-config.xml. I know that thre is tag withThis is the wrong place to configure a connection pool, too. Struts should have nothing to do with it. What if you change Web frameworks to WebWork or Spring? The connection pool should be configured in the container that hosts your app, not Struts.
this name, but the problem is i don't know how to use
this tag. If any budy know how to use this please
tell me the syntax or any example.
plese... reply soon..Don't do it. Think about doing it in your container, not Struts.

IronPort S-Series - Reporting data
Hi, I was wondering where IronPort keeps the data for reporting purposes, since we are sending all log files to a remote server and IronPort still shows information from several months before. Can someone answer this doubt? And how can I manage this
