How to use training and event functionality in  ESS  BP  in  ep 7.0   ?

Hi all,
        We are using 
1). sap portal 7.0  sp 9  and
2). Using back end  ECC 6.0    
3).  And using  Ess business package 
Business Package for Employee Self-Service (mySAP ERP)   release 1.0
  The business package doesnot contain any  training and events module iviews.
We want to use training and event management iviews on the portal.
The document for this business package says that  to use  training and event management iviews  we should install   Sap  Learning solutions 
I want to know?
1.  How can we use training and event management iviews without  using Learning solutions?
2. What is actually Learning solutions is  a seperate module  or it is the part of  Sap HR module?

To answer the second part of your question, the Learning Solution is an optional component that can be deployed in ERP.  It complements and extends the existing TEM module.  You generally still use TEM with LSO.

    I haven't been on an ECC6.0 yet.. but I don't see any issues with creating SAP Transaction iViews for PV7I & PV8I.. The NW04s that drives ECC6.0 will have the integrated ITS, so using PV7i & pv8i should not be an issue. I would check with SAP via OSS if there is a proposal to deliver standard WebDynpros for T&E before going for a custom WebDynpro.

    Hi Sunil,
    Connection to backend  with portal is working fine. Ess business package is working fine .  I tried iac iview for pz43  (which is alrready therein sicf  node) working fine.Transaction iviews (for webgui)  are also working fine.
    in se 80 i tried tesing the  iac component   pv7i (which is already there )
    it is giving following error
    Service cannot be reached
    What has happened?
    URL http://hcmides.lntinfotech.com:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/pv7i/ call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available.
    Note
    The termination occurred in system CEC with error code 404 and for the reason Not found.
    The selected virtual host was 0 .
    What can I do?

    I've been looking at the sap´s help and the only way I can find for implementing Training and Event Management as an ESS application is using ITS. But as I uderstand, the use of ITS is in the past. I want to implement that in ECC 6.0, what should I do?

    Thanks for your valuable reply,  I have seen the following Iviews  are part of the integration in TEM (in ECC6.0 documentation).
    like Transaction PV7I  (Training Center) and PV8I (My Bookings).
    in ECC6.0 - EHP5, Is it possible to have those transaction in ESS (TEM) ?
    If I want to create, TEM Module in  ECC6.0 - EHP5 will support from the backend(r3) for ESS.
    or
    Can I suggest them for LSO.

    now in ess1.0 i could not find traing and event manag. module, but i found it in ITS version of ess.
    how can i incorporate 'traing and event manag' module in ess1.0??
    do i need to download two version of ess?...i doubt if its feasible!...can anybody guide me on this?

    I am working for ESS/MSS for ERP2004 system to NW2004s system.Afer importing the business packages to portal, I got only the following roles for ESS and MSS.
    Employee Self-Service:
    Employee Search | Working Time | Benefits and Payment | Personal Information | Career and Job | Purchasing | Work Environment | Travel and Expenses | Life and Work Events
    MSS: MyStaff:
    Overview | Attendance | Personnel Change Request | Recruiting | Reporting | Headcount
    MyBudget:
    Overview | Monitors and Reports | Equipment | Planning
    According to the Worksets i got it, i couldn't find, Training and Development activity, Performance Mangement in both ESS and MSS.
    How do I achieve this?
    We also have a requirement of OH & S to be integrated to ESS.
    Please suggest me to integrate this activities.

    Hi,
    Training and Development, Performance Management are not available in the latest versions of ESS and MSS.
    You may have to use the old Business Packages to incorporate this, the only difference would be that those pages would be BSPs.

  • Training and Event management in ESS

    We have 2 services in Training & Event management.
    1. PV7I - Training centre
    2. PV8I   - My bookings
    These two services have to be provided in ESS portal.
    Is there any way to configure it in SPRO???? or is it necessary to manually create iview in portal and assign it to overview page????
    In IMG->Cross-Application Components->Homepage Framework->Areas->Define Areas (Add Entries) I tried adding New Area then in  IMG->Cross-Application Components->Homepage Framework->Areas->Assign Areas to Area Group Pages (Add and Change Entries) i assigned the New Area to the next position of stranded  Area. But my New Area is not showing in the ESS Portal. There is no problem with the connection between backend system and portal because if I change the position of Standard Areas it is getting reflected in the portal.
    Please Help.......

    TEM data is stored in HRP tables.
    You can load the catalog by creating LSMWs for objects Business event group (L), Business event types (D), Locations (F), Organizers (U) as per requirement.
    LSMW for tcode PP01 can be used to create these objects.
    To create Business Events (E) you can create LSMW for PV10/PV11.
    To book attendee create LSMW for tcode PV08 as here you can specify the actual business event ID which reduces ambiguity.
    tcode PV12 to firmly book events
    tcode PV15 to follow up

  • Training and Event Management Implementation based on competencies

    Dear Friends,
    My client is going ahead for Training and Event Managment Implementation. They have a basic requirement to start with and that is :
    1) They have done competency mapping for all its employees and they want that the competencies of each employees(along with the skill levels) to be recorded in the system and that has to be the starting point of using Training and Event Management module.
    2) They want, if the competencies can flow based on Job/ Position.
    3) Some identifier to the competencies, whther it has flowed from Appraisal or any other sources in the Final Training Needs.
    Kindly provide me help, as to how I will be able to achieve that and in what Infotypes the data pertaining to Training and Event Managment will be stored.
    If u all can kindly share with me the User Manuals and Configuration Docs of Training and Event Management, it will be of great help.

    Competencies can be stored as qualifications in PD and then by activation of PD PA intergration can be seen from pa30 infotype 24.
    Qualifications can be stored against a Job/Position and are called as the Requirements. They are seen as a separate Tab and to which ever position the person is linked to the corresponding qualifications of the position will appear in the requirements tab.
    You can maintain the proficiency and a note along with the qualification when assigned to a person.
    Also Appraisals can have qualifications in the template rather than criteria and criteria groups.
    Also after training is completed during the follow up we can create an appraisal and transfer the qualifications or simply transfer the qualifications to the employee.

    I'm not sure if you will find a user guide book for end user. So far I have not seen it yet.
    We create our own user guide according to the company needs for MSS. You can start off via the link below and with the help.sap.

    Go through the help.sap for MSS (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005vp/helpdata/en/2f/d7844205625551e10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm) and then highlight the functions of MSS which your company wants to implement and then from the help.sap, create your own user guide. Its very comprehensive and you can create afew MSS function user guides within afew hours (and you will be told what you need to lookout for interms of needed configuration in both Portal and your HR backend system).

    Hi,
    Training & Event Management runs between objects like business event group, business event type, types of resources like internal and external and resources also comprises of objects like room, different equipments.
    Mainly you have to concentrate on the objects and the relationships which they hold.
    You have to maintain settings for the above mentioned objects. and different infotypes.
    First understand your client requirements then  you can proceed for trainings / events.
    It starts with training nomination and ends with training / trainee appraisal between these two steps there are differenct processes which purely depends on client to client.

    Hi,
    Your question is not clear for me. Since it is a TEM infotype, it could be a PD infotype.
    If you wish to create a PD infotype, use transaction PPCI to create the infotype.
    But before that you need to create a structure HRInnnn (where nnnn is the infotype number) with all the fields relevant for the infotype.
    If you wish to create a PA infotype, use transaction PM01 to create the infotype.
    But before that you may be required to create a strcuture PSnnnn  (where nnnn is the infotype number) with all the fields relevant for the infotype.

    2. Firmly book event  PV12 (else can directly create firmly booked events)
    3. Book attendee PV00
    4. Follow up PV15 ( u can use n LSMW here provided all the emps get same level of proficiency after attendin n event. u wont be able to chnge proficiency level at the time of follow up usin LSMW)

    I am implementing TEM (training and event management).. and for frontend application of TEM .. we r using HCM_LEARING BSP application.... but search functionlity is not working.. i checked with EP guy... he told me that TREX is not installed..
    can u please tell me .. is TREX required for TEM search functionlity ?
    We tried to check through SE80 and then selected Search page and tested search functionlity, there also it is not working..
    How do we integrate TEM with MSS also.. client required standard functionlity. I am not getting any data for TEM in MSS?
