How to use url variables?

for example: www.blah.com/blah.php?id=1
in this case, the url variable passed is id with a default value 1.
what I am trying to do is to make the webpage display different things depend on the id value.
so, a basic syntax problem... is this the correct way to do this?

     switch (id)
          case 1: echo("something");
          case 2: echo("something else");
etc
(or am I missing some dollar sign or something?)
also, how do i declare a variable in the body?
just...
int someVar;
like in java? or?

Assuming PHP, in the head of the page you would have -
<?php
$id = isset($_GET['id'])?$_GET['id']:FALSE; // This loads the variable $id with the value of the URL variable
?>
Then you could have -
<body>
<?php
switch ($id) {
          case '1':
               echo("something");
               break;
          case '2':
               echo("something else");
               break;
?>
(I forget whether that value is passed as a string or a number, so you may have to adjust the case statements.)

Anita,
I have worked on the Global variables and i found no issues. Make sure that the variable is declared in the Declaration Section and then initlaized in the Initialization section.
If you declare a variable in the Declaration Section ,
int i;
then in any udf you can use if directly. No need to re declare the variable in the UDF. If you do this, then it becomes a local variable.

Try using spaces between parts of the resulting string.

You cannot avoid hard parsing - as the 1st time a SQL statement (like the SELECT or DELETE statements in your code) is encountered, it does not reside in the server's Shared Pool, and needs to be added into the pool via a hard parse.
Bind variables does not prevent hard parsing. Hard parsing happens when the SQL statement (with or without bind variables) is a brand new statement encountered by the server.

I am trying to use Bind Variables in MDX query while creating the Essbase Data Control. I have used the below query with the Bind Variable.. this query is working in Essbase admin console..but it is throwing error (*Invalid MDX Query)* while creating Essbase Datacontrol in JDeveloper.
MDX Query : SELECT {[Measures].Msr_2} ON COLUMNS, [Time].Children ON ROWS FROM cube
where ($name)

I have done an aplication in which i have called sap transsaction ivew usind quick link property in .html(page) language.
where we will be fetching saplogon server using this sap trans saction ivew into the portal frame work .
when i loging into the server and log off with in the portal frame work i am not able to go to my aplication home page. since back/ forward link are disabled.
atleast i want know how to enable those links.
or else
i thought to use url ivew along with sap transaction ivew with a same page with diffrent layouts.but that is also fine.
and one more option was
i thought it to be used as pop up as so that when user login and log off into the server they will close that seperate window.
for that i have set the ivew property
"launch in a new window property As : display in a seperate head less portal window"
but even that is also not working.
i dont know y that property is not working
finally i have coded with java script , now i am able to open the portal in a seperate window but with headed portal.
for that i have coded some thing like below mentioned.
problem here is still i am getting the headed portal
but i want head less portal.
here headless in the sence i want it like the preview of the ivew.
please help me in this regard how to get the head less portal when i click on the link.

I have a <af:iterator in my page fragment as follows

Within this iterator, I want to make a decision absed on the index of the iterator. To do this test, I am using jstl as follows
<c:when test="${vs.index == '0' or vs.index == '2' or vs.index == '4'}">
This test is however always evaluating to false. I have tried cahnging my code using various combiantion as below ...
<c:when test="#{vs.index == '0' or vs.index == '2' or vs.index == '4'}">
<c:when test="${vs.index == 0 or vs.index == 2 or vs.index == 4}">
<c:when test="${vs.index == '0' || vs.index == '2' || vs.index == '4'}">
But nothign seems to be working fine.

Can anybody please guide me in using shared variables... I'm learning LabVIEW 8.5.... But did not understand how to use shared variables... I tried to read web pages regarding shared variables but got confused.... So anyone can please help me...?

You will have to give us the whole picture. What is your client computer; a PAC, desktop etc? What are you running on the client computer; a VI or an executable? Where are you going to deploy your library? On the host machine or the client machine?
If I assume that you are running a VI on the client machine and are depolying the library on the host, all you have to do is to create another shared variable and bind it to the variable on the host machine. You can do this by checking the Bind to Source option when creating the variable and browsing to the network item in options. Be sure to have the library deployed on the host side before you attempt to do this otherwise you won't be able to find the variable.

How to use string variable onside quotes

i would like to know how to use string variable onside quotes. what i mean is if i have a LOV variable P_STATUS as character string.
and in my PL/SQL function i give a query as
Q AS VARCHAR2(1000) := 'SELECT * FROM EMP
WHERE STATUS = :P_STATUS';
Is this correct. I Know that the above statement works when the LOV is an integer, but when i use a character LOV return value the above statement does not work. how can i get in the character LOV value.

how can I separate the values and ho to use it .Don't use execute immediate. Use the DBMS_SQL package instead and bind your values dynamically with loops to cover all the columns you need etc.

1. This is not a jython code, this is beanshell code. Anything you put between <% and %> is beanshell code which is sort of a parser code for ODI. Check out
http://www.beanshell.org/
2. Your expression for "url" variable is wrong. If you want to concatenate strings, you have to use + sign i.e it should be:
String url = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@"+ip+":1521:orcl";
Other statments need to be adjusted similar way.
3. Why would you want to go through so many trouble? Just extract the SQL into a file using ODI SQLUnload tool. The sql should be:
SELECT c.var_name||' #'||d.project_name||'.'||c.var_name FROM snp_package a JOIN snp_step b On (a.i_package = b.i_package) JOIN snp_var c ON (b.i_var = c.i_var) JOIN snp_project d ON (c.i_project = d.i_project) WHERE UPPER(pack_name) = upper('DebugJava')

by the way you know that 127.0.0.1 is the address you use to get to your own computer right? It's the loopback address. so posting it doesn't really help anybody see the page, if that was what you were hoping.
