How to use XML in flex

i am developing a flex based quiz application. The quiz
application has different quiz categories.
Questions for each category is stored in a separate xml file.
I should be able to load the required xml file into an array
after the user selects the quiz category.
The available docs refer to async xml loading. I need to load
synchronously.
Thanks.

You cannot do synchronous data service calls. Period.
Resistance is futile.
Find another way.
Post the question in the General discussion forum.

  • How to receive XML from Flex HTTP POST

    Hi,
    We curreontly have a setup where we have a FLEX frontend send an XML through a HTTP POST and awaiting a response also in XML. On the backend this is handled relatively simply by a PHP script that basically does the following:
    read data (in XML)from FlEX HTTP POST into a new temp XML file.
    execute a c++ program with the XML file as one of the parameter.
    return the result to FLEX
    We have decided to move to BlazeDS for various reasons.
    Looking at the examples bundled with BlazeDS they have a jsp example that returns an XML result to FLEX so that part is fine. I am trying to find an example of JSP (or Servlet) that is able to read the XML data from FLEX and write it into a temp XML file. I would then try to use runtime.exec to invoke a local C++ program to process the XML file the result of which will be sent back to FLEX.
    Any help will be very much appreciated!

    Have you already had a look at our online documentation here on OTN, or at a book like Building Oracle XML Applications? There are lots of examples in those.
    If you have a specific question about using the API's that's not working for you, we can help out here.

    When we use XML,XSD,WSDL files to create SOA webservices in jdeveloper ,what will happen means internally,how will useful xml ,xsd,wsdl for composite ?
    How xml will send message to XSD then how wsdl interaction then to composite ?

    XSD (XML Schema Definition), is an abstract representation of a XML characteristics.
    The WSDL (Web Services Description Language), describes the functionality offered by your web service.
    You can say what operations your services offers, and describe the messages used for this operations in your XSD.

  • How to use XML on another server?

    I need help figuring out how to consume XML from another
    domain. It's a domain that is providing search functionality for a
    website. The domain indexes my site, and I can "post" searches to
    an URL with my search terms URL-escaped. It returns an XML
    document. I want to use Spry to consume that XML.
    I'm pretty experienced consuming XML and using it in Spry
    pages, but to date have not done anything that crosses domains. I
    will have access to Perl on the production box that hosts my site,
    with a remote chance that I could get PHP enabled. This is a public
    web server for a very very large financial company, so my choices
    of what can go on a production server outside our firewall are
    limited by corporate policy.
    What are the basic steps that need to happen? Can someone
    bullet-point how this might work from one end to the other? I have
    the basic theory down of what needs to happen, but not much else at
    this point.
    Here is what I understand:
    1 - user fills in search form and hits enter
    2 - form posts to a Perl script on my box
    3 - Perl takes the form variables and appends them to a URL
    request to the 3rd party search domain
    4 - 3rd party search company returns an xml file
    5 - not sure what Perl needs to do here with the xml so that
    my HTML page with Spry can read it....it does something, let's just
    say
    6 - Perl writes out a page, based on a template in my site
    that then consumes the XML that is somehow available on my domain
    now...
    This raises so many questions...like if I save the results
    XML on my server, how do I get rid of them after they are consumed
    and also how do I prevent other sessions from accessing that "saved
    copy" of XML...I know I'm thinking wrong here. That can't be how
    it's done...Hence...my question about all this.
    Where do I start?
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Simply making the database aware of the archivlogs does NOT mean rman will determine they need to be used for a specific recovery operation.  What all had you done to/with this database prior to this?   Keep firmly  in mind the effect of any OPEN RESETLOGS.

    Hi Vikram,
    I need some more help from your side.
    It would be great help if you will let me know that how to extract the data from particular XML tag.

  • How to use XML Publisher

    Hi,
    anyone knows how to use XMLP 5.5 from Oracle Forms?
    please help and share your knowledges
    regards
    igor

    Hi,
    I checked with one of the Oracle Sales Consultants working with Forms and XML Publisher and he says that you can either use web.show_document() or the Java Importer to generate Reports with XML Pulisher. Note that XML Publisher does not yet support SSO authentication ,which means that there is no implicit authentication possible when running it.

  • PL/SQL web service - how to use XML schema to define inputs/outputs?

    Hello,
    let us say I want to publish a PL/SQL web service. The package spec that I want to expose is:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE myWebService AS
      FUNCTION loadResults(
        username   IN VARCHAR2,
        password   IN VARCHAR2,
        resultData IN XMLType)
      RETURN XMLType;
    END;When I use JDeveloper's wizard to publish my PL/SQL web service, the resulting WSDL contains this:
    <schema
        xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
        xmlns:wsdl="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/wsdl/"
        xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"
        xmlns:soap11-enc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/"
        xmlns:tns="http://uk/co/weatherbys/aapws/AAPWS.wsdl/types/"
        targetNamespace="http://uk/co/weatherbys/aapws/AAPWS.wsdl/types/"
        elementFormDefault="qualified">
        <element name="loadresultsElement">
            <complexType>
                <sequence>
                    <element name="username" type="string" nillable="true"/>
                    <element name="password" type="string" nillable="true"/>
                    <element name="resultdata" nillable="true">
                        <complexType>
                           <sequence>
                                <any/>
                             </sequence>
                        </complexType>
                    </element>
                </sequence>
            </complexType>
        </element>
        <element name="loadresultsResponseElement">
            <complexType>
                <sequence>
                    <element name="result" nillable="true">
                       <complexType>
                            <sequence>
                                <any/>
                            </sequence>
                        </complexType>
                    </element>
                </sequence>
            </complexType>
        </element>
    </schema>It is specifying that anything at all can be passed in and out from the two XMLType arguments, which is fair enough: it has no way of knowing what I am expecting and what I shall return.
    My question is, how do I tell JDeveloper that actually I want either or both of those XMLTypes to conform to a particular XML schema?

    You cannot format the date as a string, unless you do the conversion on the PL-SQL side, before you use it in your WebService mapping. It should be handled as a string.
    The only way to convert the XML from SOAP, using this encoding, into literal XML is to apply XSLT to the payload. Not sure why you would like to do this, as the payload should be consumed by another SOAP-awared stack.
    Hope this helps,
    Eric
