How to verify iTunes is overwriting or making multiple backups

I have an iPad2 with iTunes 10.7.0.21 in Win7 x64 and wanted to determine whether iTunes is simply overwriting the previous backup with the current one or whether in fact it is keeping multiple backups so that I can restore the iPad if need be to the state in which it was say 4 backups ago.
If I go to Edit | Prefeences| Devices it shows only the one backup for the iPad in the list.

Create a smart playlist to include everything you've added since whenever you last backed up.
File>New smart playlist
Match the following rule
Date Added is after "whatever date you last backed up"
Make since?

The duplication is unnecessary. Exporting creates a duplicate of the file. So now you'll have a duplicate of a duplicate. Exporting is not "working on" a file.
No it's not merging, it's exporting from one to the Finder and into another. No matter what lose something. If you export the Original you leave behind all the work you've done in iPhoto. If you export anything else, you lose the non-destructive editing and the ability to revert to the original. With merging you preserve that work. Yes, you can trash the old Library when you have completed the manoevre but no it's not the same thing as merging.

Current gets you the iPhoto Preview, used for sharing via media browsers. It's a jpg, medium quality missing metadata. Original gets the file you imported, unchanged and then you can export different version of the current version at different qualities. If you choose to export anything except the Original you do not get a Raw. There's no such thing as an "edited Raw", and you lose the connection between the original and the exported version. That means you've taken a non-destructive workflow and turned it into a destructive one.
The Tiff will certainly be higher qulaity and less likely to suffer generational loss in future editing but the file sizes are vast, often more than 10 times the size of the jpeg.
Put it this way, it would be cheaper to buy Library Manager than the disk you'll need to contain all the Tiffs. Unless you plan on a lot of editing, I'd go for a high quality jpeg as a reasonable compromise.

So, I guess my new question is, how can I edit the Raw image and keep it in a RAW format that IPhoto recognizes so that I can reprocess without any loss at a future time, or is it that once you edit a RAW image, then it is no longer a RAW image?
Once you edit a Raw it can no longer be a Raw. End of.

This same thing happened to me several times.
Finally, I tried checking my credit card info in iTunes on my computer, and when I went in to edit it, I had to enter in my Credit Card Security Code again. There was a box next to it that said something about needing to re-enter the number since my account was being accessed from a new device. So, I entered my Security Code, tried the purchase again from my Apply TV, and it worked great.

I am attempting to import selections from multiple CDs that all have the same volume and artist name. When I import another selection from a different disc iTunes automatically begins to overwrite the existing track. I've asked the creator of the discs for help and they gave me an explanation of Gracenotes, etc. and said to use the help menu to change the names. I have changed the name, artist and album of the existing track using Get Info, but iTunes still overwrites. I run Win 7 and iTunes 10.6.1.7.

It's likely that your backup is corrupt. Try deleting the backup, then right click on the name of the phone in iTunes and choose "back up". To delete go to iTunes Preferences, Devices tab. Highlight and delete the most recent backup. Note that sometimes deleting this way leaves some garbage around that can still interfere with a new backup, so you should verify that the backup folder is empty.

If you haven't tried this already, try making your password 16 characters long or LESS, with ONLY lower case letters and/or numbers, no special characters or symbols. Hotmail accounts will only support a password that is 16 characters long, you can make your password longer but hotmail shrinks the password down after the 16th character. When you try to log in through the iPad or iPhone direct icon, the apple program will read every letter of the password and assume it is incorrect, thus not allowing you to verify the account or log in. I just changed my password through hotmail on a regular web connection and I was then able to verify and add my hotmail through the iPad direct icon. Good luck!

Yes, you can theoretically restore your iPhone with any computer running the most current version of iTunes (10.6.3) unless there is some other issue.

"These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service."
Do you run any anti-virus or third-party firewalls on your computer? Try disabling them and trying the restore process again. It may be possible that one of these security applications is interfering with the iPhone's ability to authenticate with Apple's servers.
