  • How can I record a route on OVI Maps?

    I have done this before so I know it can be done. I just forgot how I did it. So here's what I did, I started driving from my house and told ovi maps to calculate my route when I reached my destination I said stop navigation(or something on those lines) and it created my route exactly the way I drove. I forgot how I did this exactly so can anyone please help me out here? Thank you.

    Is this upon 5800XM using Ovi Maps v3.06 or have you changed device?

  • How to render direction (route) on Elocation Map?

    Hi,
    I have to build a OAF page where I have the latitude and longitude for source and destination points and when I submit a request from OAF page the Elocation Map should render the driving directions and route on the Map. I have found the following request to Spatial
    <?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?>
    <route_request id="8"
    route_preference="shortest"
    road_preference="highway"
    return_driving_directions="true"
    distance_unit="mile"
    time_unit="minute"
    return_route_geometry="true">
    <start_location>

    </input_address>

    How do I send the same request through my OAF page? Are there APis exposed and what the process?

  • How to Save & Transfer Route/Favorites from Maps ...

    First of all I think that there is a lot confusing with the names of the  things in OVI:
     1) OviSuite is a program to synchronizing some things and download Maps.
     2) Ovi Maps is a program that  runs in the 5230 to do navigation and synchronization of maps
     3) MapsOvi is a site in the Internet, to create and synchronize favorites and Routes.
    I make a little basic  test with the Maps for OVI Site and my 5230  and after creating some favorites places and routes in the Internet Site, I can not find a button to save and  make the transfer of  routes and favorites from the Map Ovi suite to my phone, using Bluetooth or  USB cable.
    There is a way to make the transfer directly from my PC to the 5230, using a USB cable or Bluetooth? Or the only way to transfer the favorites and routes created on the Maps Ovi to the phone is the real time synchronization of both, using the  Internet connection on the way of my phone and spending a lot of $$$ to do this?
    I think that the overall  design of OVI things must be totally remade

    Thank You for your help. But the problem with my Nokia 5230 is that it does not have WiFi,so I would need to use the 3G connection,  wasting some Megabytes. I do not understand why the OVI software does not have an option to download the favorites and routes created in the Internet Site, directly on my phone using the  USB cable or Bluetooth  connection.   The OviSuite could do this  with the Maps,why not with the wpts and routes? • How to delete Search History in Ovi Maps 3.06 (Nok...

    Disappointing to say the least.
    Data is stored in:
    C:\private\20001f63\searchhistory.s2d
    C:\private\20001f63\settings\recent.s2d
    Maybe there are other files involved like all.s2d but deleting those files emptied my map and drive mode search, enough.
    Aren't there bettery ways to do it?

    @m80116
    Congratulations on tracking these files down as previously N8 either needed updating to v3.08Beta or firmware re-flashed to purge maps history!

  • How do I clear routes stored in maps on I phone 4s?

    Can anyone help with the above

    Hi cor-el. Thanks for this. I have followed your directions I think. In the navigation bar that has "about:home" written in it, and the yellow star to the right - I have highlighted the web site address I want to delete, and pressed delete. It disappears. The deletion is only temporary. The website does disappear from the list, but reappears when the the first letter of the web site is entered into the navigation bar. I have closed and restarted Firefox, and the address is still there. So your advice does remove it, but it is still there, and still there next time I use Firefox.
    Hope that makes sense.

  • N8 Ovi maps - Places

    I drive quite a bit and rely on GPS for destinations.  Ovi maps is simple and easy to use.  It is about 85% workable but I use it.  Problem - I went into a building and shut off GPS as normal.  When I came out and turned on the GPS on, all my Places were gone.  Re started - the same, no places.  Where did they go.  They would not come back!  I tried a few more times, no luck.  The next day everything was normal.  How do you backup the places to the sd card to restore on the road if this happens again?
    Love my N8!!!      Thanks

    If you set the phone to sync with ovi they are re-loaded whenever you open maps, you can also edit them and plan routes on Ovi maps on your PC, mine syncs on startup and close. Also a new beta was launched today, which is very impressive

  • How do I get routing data from the Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application.

    I have a tableView displaying a list of contacts from a Cloud Database.  After selecting a contact, I push to a programmatically created MKMapView.  Then I display the initial region (the view) that includes the users current location (starting point) and their selected destination (end point).
    Now I want to display annotations (as described in the Location Awareness Programming Guide) that displays polylines which will represent the turn-by-turn navigation IN MY OWN APPLICATION, and not in the Map App currently used in IOS6.
    Due to licensing and its becoming depricated in IOS 6, I do not want to get routing data from the Google Maps API.  How do I get routing data from the IOS 6 Map App (powered by TomTom) so I can display the point-to-point annotations (turn-by-turn navigation) without leaving my own application?
    I checked out Stack Overflow and other forums which basically left me with the impression that this is not possible. I also checked out the TomTom iPhone Mobile SDK User Guide from the TomTom Developer Portal and am still confused.  It must be possible to retrieve routes, since the Map App can display turn-by-turn directions.  How can I retrieve turn-by-turn data that I may display as a route within my own application?

    Thanks Michael. Apologies for the slow reply I was away for a bit (holiday blitz at work and visiting family madness etc.etc.) back now, I set both options you requested to "never " and retried the CMS software with no change.
    I do have progress of a sort though, as a test I took a separate test PC and put a clean install of Win7 on and loaded up the CMS software (it worked perfectly) and then took the version of ole32.dll off that machine and put it onto the computer I had built
    for her (using Linux) and...
    got a new error code. Darn I was so sure I had found a clever solution this time lol.
    Anyway now when the CMS fails it gives me a similar error but the offending module is "ntdll.dll" sooo... I tried taking the "working" version of ntdll.dll from the test box and moving it over (making sure to back up the existing ones
    first so I could put them back if needed) to her new PC and the PC would not boot.
    It seems to want the original versions of a few Dynamic Link Libraries and if I could somehow give it those while not breaking Win7 it should theoretically work seeing as it no longer errors with ole32.dll.
    ntdll.dll however seems necessary for Win7 to boot.
    So what I am wondering now is:
    Is there some way to have both versions of the DLL file in the system32 folder (bypassing the "cannot have two files with the exact same name in the same folder" thing) or rename the original DLL's something else and somehow make the CMS look for
    the new named versions so the system has the updated DLL's it needs to boot/run and the CMS has the old ones it wants to run or is there someway to have a self contained install of the CMS, say on a USB flash drive and give it it's own E:/windows/system32/needed
    dll's  path to the files it needs?
    Willing to try any other options or settings you may have come up with as well.
    Thanks again for your reply and my apologies for not answering sooner.

  • N8 - Ovi Maps & Routing Speech through Bluetooth

    Is there any way to route the voice directions from Ovi Maps to bluetooth headphones?
    I tried the other day, with music playing from my N8 through my bluetooth headphones the voice directions were still only coming out of the handset itself!
    Not much use if I'm using the satnav whilst riding a bicycle! That was one really useful thing I found about my HTC Desire - it would send the directions via the bluetooth headphones if connected, even if music was playing! It would pause the music, say the directions, then start playing again! Sadly then the battery would die before I reached my destination

    I've got the same problem... very very annoying ! Ovi maps is useless for my bluetooth crash helmet. How can it be so long to be fixe by Nokia ?
    I have posted this before but here goes again:- There is a work-around, which is not exactly elegant but at least good enough to use for this safety- relevant feature.
    Record a file with 2 mins of quiet/no sound/empty room etc. Save this to your music directory on the phone. Before using the ovi maps open the music player and set this to play the quiet.mp3 continously/repeat. THEN when connecting your blue-tooth device and using the maps you will get the sound directions. This works because idiotically the blue-tooth sound directions are only active when "music" is being played. Which normally is unusable/distracting. If the "music" is in fact at most a light backgroud "hiss..." then this is not so bad.
    p.s. One can expect a bit more battery useage this way. Good idea to have a charging facility on your vehicle. In my case with a 125cc Scooter I have built this under the seat. The BT works fine from there so I can use the maps while the N8 is charging.
    Stay safe!

    Ovi maps 3.03 was designed to be synced with your ovi account at maps.ovi.com. You can manage routes there, and delete them if you wish. Sync your maps to your account, opens maps.ovi.com, log in, go to favorites and delete your route, then sync again. The website acts as an in PC maps manager. If you wish this function to be added to next versions of the maps, head over to Nokia Beta Labs and post your feedback in the section for Ovi Maps.

    How to delete history in OVI maps on 5800 ?
    Maps >  Drive >  Set Destination > History -------???   How do you delete the entrys that you no longer need ?
    I'm obviously missing something very stupid here, but for the life of me I cant find out what

    In maps home page, select the gold star favourites, then select either places or routes, select the item you want to delete and scroll down to the option to delete !

  • Routing data from web ovi map TO my mobile device

    How can I transfer the route data from web ovi map to my cell phone (E66) an using it for navigation?

    within your phone application you can synch.
    Depends on your phone's map-version, where that is... check the menu-area "favourites"...

  • Route tracking with Ovi Maps without internet conn...

    I have been trying to find an app, which would track my  route without connecting to the  internet. This is important in two cases: 1. when there is no service (in the mountains, for instance) 2. when it is prohibitively expensive (like abroad). It is great that I can download Ovi Maps for any location in the world, but I cannot really use it as every app that I know is trying to connect. I found one app, which came close, Parking 2. It does use Ove Maps and one would think that you can track back your car looking at the pre-loaded maps, but this is not the case. It still connects and then loads the maps (which are already pre-loaded on the phone!). And if there is no connection, there are no maps.
    Does anyone know of a free or paid app, which can do exactly that: track your route based on the pre-loaded Ovi Maps without connecting to the net?
    Thank you in advance for any info

    @optiplex - I Understand where you are coming from. It sounds fairly simple. Unfortunately, the maps that ovi has for places like ladakh and other places in the Himalayas are fairly featureless. There are no contours on the map for where the terrain is mountainous. For instance, I have planned an expedition in the Tsomoriri - Peldo - Skarchyu sector. The Terrain ranges from 15000 ft to 22000 + ft. Straight line just aint gonna work. If the map were bit more detailed then I could actually set way points to the destination and then work one way point at a time. Unfortunately, while I am happy that the GPS on N8 works wonderfully well without GPRS/3G or any cellular network, the ovi maps are a let down, in that they are not very detailed. (not talking about cities and towns and not referring to drive navigation at all which according to me works beautifully.)

    1. OVI Maps and Sport Tracker does not need Internet connection if you did the setting correctly.
    2. Sport Tracker will record your trail. The trail can be shown on the Sport Tracker maps. The trail record can also be exported out as KML file and on the PC screen, display the trail on Google Earth.
    Unfortunately, I don't think you can use the trail record to guide you back to your starting position while in the mountain.
    So how about this method using OVI maps.
    1. Set your Walk navigation to "Straight Line" instead of "Street".
    2. Record your starting position as a Favorite on OVI Maps.
    3. Walk into the mountain.
    3. Use OVI Maps to navigate back to your starting position by selecting "Walk to". OVI maps will show how far and the built in compass will show you which direction is your starting position.
    Not sure whether this is what you needed.

  • How to install OVI Map navigation for N95

    Ok, getting very frustrated with this now.  I have given my dad my N95 to help him get around but just cant get the map navigation to work.  I downloaded the Nokia Map Loader (I had to go to a third party website as the Nokia links were all broken) and have the map/voices but when my dad tries to use the navigation it tells him he has to pay.
    Obviously, I know that Nokia have now made these services free to complete with other company's devices, I'm just being stupid and not going to the right place to download them.  When i go to www.nokia.com/maps on the phone it doesnt do anything.  I've been trying for over a day now and the phone has almost made contact with the wall a few times - sorry to be a numpty, but how do you install the OVI map navigation stuff on the N95! :-)

    @Cowes67
    Let's clear up any misunderstanding here, upon N95 there is no legititimate way of obtaining free voice navigation with version of Ovi Maps upon N95 as you would need to purchase a license!
    You should run Ovi Maps application with a microSD inserted in N95 which will re-create necessary folder structure for Nokia Suite > Maps to recognise it.
    Please note that standalone version of Nokia Maploader apart from version for Mac users ceased to be functional several years ago.
    I still have N95 in use so post again if any further queries over this issue.
